[1] Then Job answered Yahweh:
[2] “I know that you can do all things,
and that no purpose of yours can be restrained.
[3] You asked, ‘Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?’
therefore I have uttered that which I didn’t understand,
things too wonderful for me, which I didn’t know.
[4] You said, ‘Listen, now, and I will speak;
I will question you, and you will answer me.’
[5] I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear,
but now my eye sees you.
[6] Therefore I abhor myself,
and repent in dust and ashes.” [7] It was so, that after Yahweh had spoken these words to Job, Yahweh said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is kindled against you, and against your two friends; for you have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job has. [8] Now therefore, take to yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you, for I will accept him, that I not deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job has.” [9] So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did what Yahweh commanded them, and Yahweh accepted Job. [10] Yahweh restored Job’s prosperity when he prayed for his friends. Yahweh gave Job twice as much as he had before. [11] Then all his brothers, all his sisters, and all those who had been of his acquaintance before, came to him and ate bread with him in his house. They comforted him, and consoled him concerning all the evil that Yahweh had brought on him. Everyone also gave him a piece of money,§ and everyone a ring of gold. [12] So Yahweh blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand female donkeys. [13] He had also seven sons and three daughters. [14] He called the name of the first, Jemimah; and the name of the second, Keziah; and the name of the third, Keren Happuch. [15] In all the land were no women found so beautiful as the daughters of Job. Their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers. [16] After this Job lived one hundred forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons’ sons, to four generations. [17] So Job died, being old and full of days.

[1] Then JobH347 answeredH6030(QalImpf) the Lord,H3068 and said,H559(QalImpf) [2] I knowH3045(QalPerf) that thou canst doH3201(QalImpf) every [thing], and [that] no thoughtH4209 can be withholdenH1219(NiphImpf) from thee. [3] Who [is] he that hidethH5956(HiphPtc) counselH6098 without knowledge?H1847 therefore have I utteredH5046(HiphPerf) that I understoodH995(QalImpf) not; things too wonderfulH6381(NiphPtc) for me, which I knewH3045(QalImpf) not. [4] Hear,H8085(QalImpv) I beseech thee, and I will speak:H1696(PielImpf) I will demandH7592(QalImpf) of thee, and declareH3045(HiphImpv) thou unto me. [5] I have heardH8085(QalPerf) of thee by the hearingH8088 of the ear:H241 but now mine eyeH5869 seethH7200(QalPerf) thee. [6] Wherefore I abhorH3988(QalImpf) [myself], and repentH5162(NiphPerf) in dustH6083 and ashes.H665 [7] And it was [so], that afterH310 the LordH3068 had spokenH1696(PielPerf) these wordsH1697 unto Job,H347 the LordH3068 saidH559(QalImpf) to EliphazH464 the Temanite,H8489 My wrathH639 is kindledH2734(QalPerf) against thee, and against thy twoH8147 friends:H7453 for ye have not spokenH1696(PielPerf) of me [the thing that is] right,H3559(NiphPtc) as my servantH5650 JobH347 [hath]. [8] Therefore takeH3947(QalImpv) unto you now sevenH7651 bullocksH6499 and sevenH7651 rams,H352 and goH3212(QalImpv) to my servantH5650 Job,H347 and offer upH5927(HiphPerf) for yourselves a burnt offering;H5930 and my servantH5650 JobH347 shall prayH6419(HithImpf) for you: for himH6440 will I accept:H5375(QalImpf) lest I dealH6213(QalInf) with you [after your] folly,H5039 in that ye have not spokenH1696(PielPerf) of me [the thing which is] right,H3559(NiphPtc) like my servantH5650 Job.H347 [9] So EliphazH464 the TemaniteH8489 and BildadH1085 the ShuhiteH7747 [and] ZopharH6691 the NaamathiteH5284 went,H3212(QalImpf) and didH6213(QalImpf) according as the LordH3068 commandedH1696(PielPerf) them: the LordH3068 also acceptedH5375(QalImpf) Job.H6440 [10] And the LordH3068 turnedH7725(QalPerf) the captivityH7622(Qere) of Job,H347 when he prayedH6419(HithInf) for his friends:H7453 also the LordH3068 gaveH3254(HiphImpf) JobH347 twice as muchH4932 as he had before. [11] Then cameH935(QalImpf) there unto him all his brethren,H251 and all his sisters,H269 and all they that had been of his acquaintanceH3045(QalActPtc) before,H6440 and did eatH398(QalImpf) breadH3899 with him in his house:H1004 and they bemoanedH5110(QalImpf) him, and comfortedH5162(PielImpf) him over all the evilH7451 that the LordH3068 had broughtH935(HiphPerf) upon him: every manH376 also gaveH5414(QalImpf) him aH259 piece of money,H7192 and every oneH376 an earringH5141 of gold.H2091 [12] So the LordH3068 blessedH1288(PielPerf) the latter endH319 of JobH347 more than his beginning:H7225 for he had fourteenH702 thousandH505 sheep,H6629 and sixH8337 thousandH505 camels,H1581 and a thousandH505 yokeH6776 of oxen,H1241 and a thousandH505 she asses.H860 [13] He had also sevenH7658 sonsH1121 and threeH7969 daughters.H1323 [14] And he calledH7121(QalImpf) the nameH8034 of the first,H259 Jemima;H3224 and the nameH8034 of the second,H8145 Kezia;H7103 and the nameH8034 of the third,H7992 Kerenhappuch.H7163 [15] And in all the landH776 were no womenH802 foundH4672(NiphPerf) [so] fairH3303 as the daughtersH1323 of Job:H347 and their fatherH1 gaveH5414(QalImpf) them inheritanceH5159 amongH8432 their brethren.H251 [16] AfterH310 this livedH2421(QalImpf) JobH347 an hundredH3967 and fortyH705 years,H8141 and sawH7200(QalImpf) his sons,H1121 and his sons’H1121 sons,H1121 [even] fourH702 generations.H1755 [17] So JobH347 died,H4191(QalImpf) [being] oldH2205 and fullH7649 of days.H3117
