Now in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria attacked all of the fortified cities of Judah and captured them.

Now it came to pass in the fourteenth H702 H6240 year H8141 of king H4428 Hezekiah, H2396 [that] Sennacherib H5576 king H4428 of Assyria H804 came up H5927 (QalPerf) against all the defenced H1219 (QalPasPtc) cities H5892 of Judah, H3063 and took H8610 (QalImpf) them.

And it cometh to pass, in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, come up hath Sennacherib king of Asshur against all the fenced cities of Judah, and seizeth them.

“ ‘This shall be the sign to you: You will eat this year that which grows of itself, and in the second year that which springs from it; and in the third year sow and reap and plant vineyards, and eat their fruit.

And this [shall be] a sign H226 unto thee, Ye shall eat H398 (QalInf) [this] year H8141 such as groweth H5599 of itself; and the second H8145 year H8141 that which springeth H7823 of the same: and in the third H7992 year H8141 sow H2232 (QalImpv) ye, and reap, H7114 (QalImpv) and plant H5193 (QalImpv) vineyards, H3754 and eat H398 (QalImpv) the fruit H6529 thereof.

-And this to thee is the sign, Food of the year is self-sown grain, And in the second year the spontaneous growth, And in the third year, sow ye and reap, And plant vineyards, and eat their fruit.

“Go, and tell Hezekiah, ‘Yahweh, the God of David your father, says, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. Behold, I will add fifteen years to your life.

Go, and thou hast said to Hezekiah, Thus said Jehovah, God of David thy father, ‘I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tear, lo, I am adding to thy days fifteen years,

I said, “In the middle of my life I go into the gates of Sheol.° I am deprived of the residue of my years.”

Isaiah 38:10 Sheol is the place of the dead.

‘I-I said in the cutting off of my days, I go in to the gates of Sheol, I have numbered the remnant of mine years.

What will I say? He has both spoken to me, and himself has done it. I will walk carefully all my years because of the anguish of my soul.

-What do I say? seeing He said to me, And He Himself hath wrought, I go softly all my years for the bitterness of my soul.

to proclaim the year of Yahweh’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,

To proclaim the year of the good pleasure of Jehovah, And the day of vengeance of our God, To comfort all mourners.

For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year of my redeemed has come.

For the day of vengeance is in my heart, And the year of my redeemed hath come.

“No more will there be an infant who only lives a few days, nor an old man who has not filled his days; for the child will die one hundred years old, and the sinner being one hundred years old will be accursed.

There is not thence any more a suckling of days, And an aged man who doth not complete his days, For the youth a hundred years old dieth, And the sinner, a hundred years old, is lightly esteemed.

Yahweh’s^§ word came to him in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.

Jeremiah 1:2 “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “Lord” (all caps) in other translations.

unto whom the word of Jehovah hath been in the days of Josiah son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign,

It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, to the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, to the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.

and it is in the days of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, till the completion of the eleventh year of Zedekiah son of Josiah, king of Judah, till the removal of Jerusalem in the fifth month.

There will be no remnant to them, for I will bring evil on the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation.’ ”

And there shall be no remnant H7611 of them: for I will bring H935 (HiphImpf) evil H7451 upon the men H582 of Anathoth, H6068 [even] the year H8141 of their visitation. H6486

And they have no remnant, For I bring evil unto the men of Anathoth, The year of their inspection!’

For he will be as a tree planted by the waters, who spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes, but its leaf will be green, and will not be concerned in the year of drought. It won’t cease from yielding fruit.

And hath been as a tree planted by waters, And by a rivulet he sendeth forth his roots, And he doth not see when heat cometh, And his leaf hath been green, And in a year of dearth he is not sorrowful, Nor doth he cease from making fruit.

Therefore their way will be to them as slippery places in the darkness. They will be driven on, and fall therein; for I will bring evil on them, even the year of their visitation,” says Yahweh.

Therefore is their way to them as slippery places, Into thick darkness they are driven, And they have fallen in it, For I bring in against them evil, The year of their inspection, An affirmation of Jehovah.

The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah (this was the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon),

The word that hath been unto Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah,-it is the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon,-

From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, even to this day, these twenty-three years, Yahweh’s word has come to me, and I have spoken to you, rising up early and speaking; but you have not listened.

‘From the thirteenth year of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah, and unto this day-this three and twentieth year-hath the word of Jehovah been unto me, and I speak unto you, rising early and speaking, and ye have not hearkened;

This whole land will be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

And this whole land H776 shall be a desolation, H2723 [and] an astonishment; H8047 and these nations H1471 shall serve H5647 (QalPerf) the king H4428 of Babylon H894 seventy H7657 years. H8141

And all this land hath been for a waste, for an astonishment, and these nations have served the king of Babylon seventy years.

“It will happen, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation,” says Yahweh, “for their iniquity. I will make the land of the Chaldeans desolate forever.

And it shall come to pass, when seventy H7657 years H8141 are accomplished, H4390 (QalInf) [that] I will punish H6485 (QalImpf) the king H4428 of Babylon, H894 and that nation, H1471 saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord, H3068 for their iniquity, H5771 and the land H776 of the Chaldeans, H3778 and will make H7760 (QalPerf) it perpetual H5769 desolations. ‘And it hath come to pass, at the fulness of seventy years, I charge against the king of Babylon, and against that nation-an affirmation of Jehovah-their iniquity, and against the land of the Chaldeans, and have appointed it for desolations age-during.

That same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, Hananiah the son of Azzur, the prophet, who was of Gibeon, spoke to me in Yahweh’s house, in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying,

And it came to pass the same year, H8141 in the beginning H7225 of the reign H4467 of Zedekiah H6667 king H4428 of Judah, H3063 in the fourth H7243 year, H8141 [and] in the fifth H2549 month, H2320 [that] Hananiah H2608 the son H1121 of Azur H5809 the prophet, H5030 which [was] of Gibeon, H1391 spake H559 (QalPerf) unto me in the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 in the presence H5869 of the priests H3548 and of all the people, H5971 saying, H559 (QalInf)

And it cometh to pass, in that year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, spoken unto me hath Hananiah son of Azur the prophet, who is of Gibeon, in the house of Jehovah, before the eyes of the priests, and all the people, saying,

Within two full years I will bring again into this place all the vessels of Yahweh’s house that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place and carried to Babylon.

Within two full H3117 years H8141 will I bring again H7725 (HiphPtc) into this place H4725 all the vessels H3627 of the Lord’s H3068 house, H1004 that Nebuchadnezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon H894 took away H3947 (QalPerf) from this place, H4725 and carried H935 (HiphImpf) them to Babylon: H894

Within two years of days I am bringing back unto this place all the vessels of the house of Jehovah that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon hath taken from this place, and doth carry to Babylon,

Hananiah spoke in the presence of all the people, saying, “Yahweh says: ‘Even so I will break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from off the neck of all the nations within two full years.’ ” Then the prophet Jeremiah went his way.

And Hananiah H2608 spake H559 (QalImpf) in the presence H5869 of all the people, H5971 saying, H559 (QalInf) Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Even so will I break H7665 (QalImpf) the yoke H5923 of Nebuchadnezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon H894 from the neck H6677 of all nations H1471 within the space of two full H3117 years. H8141 And the prophet H5030 Jeremiah H3414 went H3212 (QalImpf) his way. H1870

And Hananiah speaketh before the eyes of all the people, saying, ‘Thus said Jehovah, Thus I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, within two years of days, from off the neck of all the nations;’ and Jeremiah the prophet goeth on his way.

Therefore Yahweh says, ‘Behold, I will send you away from off the surface of the earth. This year you will die, because you have spoken rebellion against Yahweh.’ ”

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Behold, I will cast H7971 (PielPtc) thee from off the face H6440 of the earth: H127 this year H8141 thou shalt die, H4191 (QalPtc) because thou hast taught H1696 (PielPerf) rebellion H5627 against the Lord. H3068

Therefore thus said Jehovah, Lo, I am casting thee from off the face of the ground; this year thou diest, for apostasy thou hast spoken concerning Jehovah.’

So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.

So Hananiah H2608 the prophet H5030 died H4191 (QalImpf) the same year H8141 in the seventh H7637 month. H2320

And Hananiah the prophet dieth in that year, in the seventh month.

For Yahweh says, “After seventy years are accomplished for Babylon, I will visit you and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.

For thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 That after H6310 seventy H7657 years H8141 be accomplished H4390 (QalInf) at Babylon H894 I will visit H6485 (QalImpf) you, and perform H6965 (HiphPerf) my good H2896 word H1697 toward you, in causing you to return H7725 (HiphInf) to this place. H4725

‘For thus said Jehovah, Surely at the fulness of Babylon-seventy years-I inspect you, and have established towards you My good word, to bring you back unto this place.

This is the word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar.

The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah-it is the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar,

At the end of seven years, every man of you shall release his brother who is a Hebrew, who has been sold to you, and has served you six years. You shall let him go free from you. But your fathers didn’t listen to me, and didn’t incline their ear.

At the end of seven years ye do send forth each his brother, the Hebrew, who is sold to thee, and hath served thee six years, yea, thou hast sent him forth free from thee: and your fathers hearkened not unto Me, nor inclined their ear.

In the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,

And it came to pass in the fourth H7243 year H8141 of Jehoiakim H3079 the son H1121 of Josiah H2977 king H4428 of Judah, H3063 [that] this word H1697 came unto Jeremiah H3414 from the Lord, H3068 saying, H559 (QalInf)

And it cometh to pass, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, this word hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying:

Now in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, all the people in Jerusalem and all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem, proclaimed a fast before Yahweh.

And it came to pass in the fifth H2549 year H8141 of Jehoiakim H3079 the son H1121 of Josiah H2977 king H4428 of Judah, H3063 in the ninth H8671 month, H2320 [that] they proclaimed H7121 (QalPerf) a fast H6685 before H6440 the Lord H3068 to all the people H5971 in Jerusalem, H3389 and to all the people H5971 that came H935 (QalActPtc) from the cities H5892 of Judah H3063 unto Jerusalem. And it cometh to pass, in the fifth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, in the ninth month, proclaimed a fast before Jehovah have all the people in Jerusalem, and all the people who are coming in from cities of Judah to Jerusalem;

In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army came against Jerusalem, and besieged it.

In the ninth H8671 year H8141 of Zedekiah H6667 king H4428 of Judah, H3063 in the tenth H6224 month, H2320 came H935 (QalPerf) Nebuchadrezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon H894 and all his army H2428 against Jerusalem, H3389 and they besieged H6696 (QalImpf) it.

In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, come hath Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his force unto Jerusalem, and they lay siege against it;

In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, a breach was made in the city.

[And] in the eleventh H6249 H6240 year H8141 of Zedekiah, H6667 in the fourth H7243 month, H2320 the ninth H8672 [day] of the month, H2320 the city H5892 was broken up. H1234 (HophPerf)

in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, in the ninth of the month, hath the city been broken up;

The message that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he wrote these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,

The word H1697 that Jeremiah H3414 the prophet H5030 spake H1696 (PielPerf) unto Baruch H1263 the son H1121 of Neriah, H5374 when he had written H3789 (QalInf) these words H1697 in a book H5612 at the mouth H6310 of Jeremiah, H3414 in the fourth H7243 year H8141 of Jehoiakim H3079 the son H1121 of Josiah H2977 king H4428 of Judah, H3063 saying, H559 (QalInf)

The word that Jeremiah the prophet hath spoken unto Baruch son of Neriah, in his writing these words on a book from the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, saying:

Of Egypt: concerning the army of Pharaoh Necoh king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates in Carchemish, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon struck in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah.

For Egypt, concerning the force of Pharaoh-Necho king of Egypt, that hath been by the river Phrat, in Carchemish, that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath smitten, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah:

“He who flees from the terror will fall into the pit; and he who gets up out of the pit will be taken in the snare, for I will bring on him, even on Moab, the year of their visitation,” says Yahweh.

He that fleeth H5127 (QalPtc) (Qere) H5211 from H6440 the fear H6343 shall fall H5307 (QalImpf) into the pit; H6354 and he that getteth up H5927 (QalActPtc) out of the pit H6354 shall be taken H3920 (NiphImpf) in the snare: H6341 for I will bring H935 (HiphImpf) upon it, [even] upon Moab, H4124 the year H8141 of their visitation, H6486 saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord. Whoso is fleeing because of the fear falleth into the snare, And whoso is coming up from the snare is captured by the gin, For I bring in unto her-unto Moab- The year of their inspection, An affirmation of Jehovah.

Don’t let your heart faint. Don’t fear for the news that will be heard in the land. For news will come one year, and after that in another year news will come, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.

And lest your heart H3824 faint, H7401 (NiphImpf) and ye fear H3372 (QalImpf) for the rumour H8052 that shall be heard H8085 (NiphPtc) in the land; H776 a rumour H8052 shall both come H935 (QalPerf) [one] year, H8141 and after H310 that in [another] year H8141 [shall come] a rumour, H8052 and violence H2555 in the land, H776 ruler H4910 (QalActPtc) against ruler. And lest your heart be tender, And ye be afraid of the report that is heard in the land, And come in a year hath the report, And after it in a year the report, And violence is in the land, ruler against ruler;

The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah to Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. Now Seraiah was chief quartermaster.

The word H1697 which Jeremiah H3414 the prophet H5030 commanded H6680 (PielPerf) Seraiah H8304 the son H1121 of Neriah, H5374 the son H1121 of Maaseiah, H4271 when he went H3212 (QalInf) with Zedekiah H6667 the king H4428 of Judah H3063 into Babylon H894 in the fourth H7243 year H8141 of his reign. The word that Jeremiah the prophet hath commanded Seraiah son of Neriah, son of Maaseiah, in his going with Zedekiah king of Judah to Babylon, in the fourth year of his reign-and Seraiah is a quiet prince;

Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign. He reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

Zedekiah H6667 [was] one H259 and twenty H6242 years H8141 old H1121 when he began to reign, H4427 (QalInf) and he reigned H4427 (QalPerf) eleven H259 H6240 years H8141 in Jerusalem. H3389 And his mother’s H517 name H8034 [was] Hamutal H2537 the daughter H1323 of Jeremiah H3414 of Libnah. H3841

A son of twenty and one years is Zedekiah in his reigning, and eleven years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother is Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

In the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and encamped against it; and they built forts against it round about.

And it came to pass in the ninth H8671 year H8141 of his reign, H4427 (QalInf) in the tenth H6224 month, H2320 in the tenth H6218 [day] of the month, H2320 [that] Nebuchadrezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon H894 came, H935 (QalPerf) he and all his army, H2428 against Jerusalem, H3389 and pitched H2583 (QalImpf) against it, and built H1129 (QalImpf) forts H1785 against it round about. H5439

And it cometh to pass, in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth of the month, come hath Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon-he and all his force-against Jerusalem, and they encamp against it, and build against it a fortification round about;

So the city was besieged to the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.

and the city cometh into siege till the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.

Now in the fifth month, in the tenth day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, who stood before the king of Babylon, came into Jerusalem.

And in the fifth month, in the tenth of the month-it is the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon-come hath Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners; he hath stood before the king of Babylon in Jerusalem,

In the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the twenty-fifth day of the month, Evilmerodach king of Babylon, in the first year of his reign, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and released him from prison.

And it cometh to pass, in the thirty and seventh year of the removal of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the twenty and fifth of the month, hath Evil-Merodach king of Babylon lifted up, in the year of his reign, the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and bringeth him out from the house of restraint,

Now in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river Chebar, the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.^§

In the fifth of the month, which was the fifth year of King Jehoiachin’s captivity,

In the fifth of the month-it is the fifth year of the removal of the king Jehoiachin-

For I have appointed the years of their iniquity to be to you a number of days, even three hundred ninety days. So you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.

“Again, when you have accomplished these, you shall lie on your right side, and shall bear the iniquity of the house of Judah. I have appointed forty days, each day for a year, to you.

In the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, the Lord Yahweh’s hand fell on me there.

In the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, some of the elders of Israel came to inquire of Yahweh, and sat before me.

And it cometh to pass, in the seventh year, in the fifth month, in the tenth of the month, come in have certain of the elders of Israel to seek Jehovah, and they sit before me;

You have become guilty in your blood that you have shed, and are defiled in your idols which you have made! You have caused your days to draw near, and have come to the end of your years. Therefore I have made you a reproach to the nations, and a mocking to all the countries.

By thy blood that thou hast shed thou hast been guilty, And by thine idols that thou hast made thou hast been defiled, And thou causest thy days to draw near, And art come in unto thine years, Therefore I have given thee a reproach to nations, And a derision to all the lands.

Again, in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,
