“You, son of man, the Lord Yahweh says: ‘Speak to the birds of every sort, and to every animal of the field, “Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice on the mountains of Israel, that you may eat meat and drink blood.

They will know that I am Yahweh their God, in that I caused them to go into captivity among the nations, and have gathered them to their own land. Then I will leave none of them captive any more.

In the third year of the reign of King Belshazzar, a vision appeared to me, even to me, Daniel, after that which appeared to me at the first.

εν ετει τριτω της βασιλειας βαλτασαρ του βασιλεως ορασις ωφθη προς με εγω δανιηλ μετα την οφθεισαν μοι την αρχην

I saw the vision. Now it was so, that when I saw, I was in the citadel of Susa, which is in the province of Elam. I saw in the vision, and I was by the river Ulai.

And I saw H7200 (QalImpf) in a vision; H2377 and it came to pass, when I saw, H7200 (QalInf) that I was at Shushan H7800 in the palace, H1002 which is in the province H4082 of Elam; H5867 and I saw H7200 (QalImpf) in a vision, H2377 and I was by the river H180 of Ulai. H195

και ημην εν σουσοις τη βαρει η εστιν εν χωρα αιλαμ και ειδον εν οραματι και ημην επι του ουβαλ

As I was considering, behold, a male goat came from the west over the surface of the whole earth, and didn’t touch the ground. The goat had a notable horn between his eyes.

And as I was considering, H995 (HiphPtc) behold, an he H5795 goat H6842 came H935 (QalActPtc) from the west H4628 on the face H6440 of the whole earth, H776 and touched H5060 (QalActPtc) not the ground:^§ H776 and the goat H6842 had a notable H2380 horn^§ H7161 between his eyes. H5869

και εγω ημην συνιων και ιδου τραγος αιγων ηρχετο απο λιβος επι προσωπον πασης της γης και ουκ ην απτομενος της γης και τω τραγω κερας θεωρητον ανα μεσον των οφθαλμων αυτου

When I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, I sought to understand it. Then behold, there stood before me someone with the appearance of a man.

And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, H1840 had seen H7200 (QalInf) the vision, H2377 and sought H1245 (PielImpf) for the meaning, H998 then, behold, there stood H5975 (QalActPtc) before me as the appearance H4758 of a man. H1397

και εγενετο εν τω ιδειν με εγω δανιηλ την ορασιν και εζητουν συνεσιν και ιδου εστη ενωπιον εμου ως ορασις ανδρος

I, Daniel, fainted, and was sick for some days. Then I rose up and did the king’s business. I wondered at the vision, but no one understood it.

και εγω δανιηλ εκοιμηθην και εμαλακισθην ημερας και ανεστην και εποιουν τα εργα του βασιλεως και εθαυμαζον την ορασιν και ουκ ην ο συνιων

in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood by the books the number of the years about which Yahweh’s^§ word came to Jeremiah the prophet for the accomplishing of the desolations of Jerusalem, even seventy years.

yes, while I was speaking in prayer—the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening offering.

At the beginning of your petitions the commandment went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are greatly beloved. Therefore consider the matter and understand the vision.

I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men who were with me didn’t see the vision, but a great quaking fell on them, and they fled to hide themselves.

And I Daniel H1840 alone saw H7200 (QalPerf) the vision: H4759 for the men H582 that were with me saw H7200 (QalPerf) not the vision; H4759 but H61 a great H1419 quaking H2731 fell H5307 (QalPerf) upon them, so that they fled H1272 (QalImpf) to hide H2244 (NiphInf) themselves.

So I was left alone and saw this great vision. No strength remained in me; for my face grew deathly pale, and I retained no strength.

Yet I heard the voice of his words. When I heard the voice of his words, then I fell into a deep sleep on my face, with my face toward the ground.
