ει δε μη αρεσκει υμιν λατρευειν κυριω ελεσθε υμιν εαυτοις σημερον τινι λατρευσητε ειτε τοις θεοις των πατερων υμων τοις εν τω περαν του ποταμου ειτε τοις θεοις των αμορραιων εν οις υμεις κατοικειτε επι της γης αυτων εγω δε και η οικια μου λατρευσομεν κυριω οτι αγιος εστιν

for it is Yahweh our God who brought us and our fathers up out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and who did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way in which we went, and among all the peoples through the middle of whom we passed.

The house of Joseph also went up against Bethel, and Yahweh was with them.

They gave him seventy pieces of silver out of the house of Baal Berith, with which Abimelech hired vain and reckless fellows who followed him.

“Now therefore, if you have dealt truly and righteously, in that you have made Abimelech king, and if you have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house, and have done to him according to the deserving of his hands

and you have risen up against my father’s house today and have slain his sons, seventy persons, on one stone, and have made Abimelech, the son of his female servant, king over the men of Shechem, because he is your brother);

but if not, let fire come out from Abimelech and devour the men of Shechem and the house of Millo; and let fire come out from the men of Shechem and from the house of Millo and devour Abimelech.”

Gilead’s wife bore him sons. When his wife’s sons grew up, they drove Jephthah out and said to him, “You will not inherit in our father’s house, for you are the son of another woman.”

Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, “Didn’t you hate me, and drive me out of my father’s house? Why have you come to me now when you are in distress?”

then it shall be, that whatever comes out of the doors of my house to meet me when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, it shall be Yahweh’s, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering.”

Jephthah came to Mizpah to his house; and behold, his daughter came out to meet him with tambourines and with dances. She was his only child. Besides her he had neither son nor daughter.

The men of Ephraim were gathered together, and passed northward; and they said to Jephthah, “Why did you pass over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didn’t call us to go with you? We will burn your house around you with fire!”

On the seventh day, they said to Samson’s wife, “Entice your husband, that he may declare to us the riddle, lest we burn you and your father’s house with fire. Have you called us to impoverish us? Isn’t that so?”

Yahweh’s Spirit came mightily on him, and he went down to Ashkelon and struck thirty men of them. He took their plunder, then gave the changes of clothing to those who declared the riddle. His anger burned, and he went up to his father’s house.

The Philistines laid hold on him and put out his eyes; and they brought him down to Gaza and bound him with fetters of bronze; and he ground at the mill in the prison.

and Samson said to the boy who held him by the hand, “Allow me to feel the pillars on which the house rests, that I may lean on them.”

και ειπεν σαμψων προς το παιδαριον τον χειραγωγουντα αυτον επαναπαυσον με δη και ποιησον ψηλαφησαι με επι τους στυλους εφ ων ο οικος επεστηρικται επ αυτων και επιστηρισομαι επ αυτους ο δε παις εποιησεν ουτως

Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were on the roof about three thousand men and women, who saw while Samson performed.

ο δε οικος ην πληρης ανδρων και γυναικων και εκει παντες οι σατραπαι των αλλοφυλων και επι του δωματος ωσει τρισχιλιοι ανδρες και γυναικες εμβλεποντες εμπαιζομενον τον σαμψων

Samson took hold of the two middle pillars on which the house rested and leaned on them, the one with his right hand and the other with his left.

And Samson H8123 took hold H3943 (QalImpf) of the two H8147 middle H8432 pillars H5982 upon which the house H1004 stood, H3559 (NiphPtc) and on which it was borne up, H5564 (NiphImpf) of the one H259 with his right hand, H3225 and of the other H259 with his left. H8040

και περιελαβεν σαμψων τους δυο στυλους τους μεσους εφ ων ο οικος επεστηρικτο επ αυτων και επεστηρισατο επ αυτοις ενα εν τη δεξια αυτου και ενα εν τη αριστερα αυτου

Samson said, “Let me die with the Philistines!” He bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell on the lords, and on all the people who were in it. So the dead that he killed at his death were more than those who he killed in his life.

And Samson H8123 said, H559 (QalImpf) Let me die H4191 (QalImpf) H5315 with the Philistines. H6430 And he bowed H5186 (QalImpf) himself with [all his] might; H3581 and the house H1004 fell H5307 (QalImpf) upon the lords, H5633 and upon all the people H5971 that [were] therein. και ειπεν σαμψων αποθανετω η ψυχη μου μετα των αλλοφυλων και εκλινεν εν ισχυι και επεσεν ο οικος επι τους σατραπας και επι παντα τον λαον τον εν αυτω και εγενοντο οι τεθνηκοτες ους εθανατωσεν σαμψων εν τω θανατω αυτου πλειους υπερ ους εθανατωσεν εν τη ζωη αυτου

Then his brothers and all the house of his father came down and took him, and brought him up and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the burial site of Manoah his father. He judged Israel twenty years.

Then his brethren H251 and all the house H1004 of his father H1 came down, H3381 (QalImpf) and took H5375 (QalImpf) him, and brought [him] up, H5927 (QalImpf) and buried H6912 (QalImpf) him between Zorah H6881 and Eshtaol H847 in the buryingplace H6913 of Manoah H4495 his father. και κατεβησαν οι αδελφοι αυτου και πας ο οικος του πατρος αυτου και ελαβον αυτον και ανεβησαν και εθαψαν αυτον ανα μεσον σαραα και ανα μεσον εσθαολ εν τω ταφω μανωε του πατρος αυτου και αυτος εκρινεν τον ισραηλ εικοσι ετη

When he restored the money to his mother, his mother took two hundred pieces of silver, and gave them to a silversmith, who made a carved image and a molten image out of it. It was in the house of Micah.

Yet he restored H7725 (HiphImpf) the money H3701 unto his mother; H517 and his mother H517 took H3947 (QalImpf) two hundred H3967 [shekels] of silver, H3701 and gave H5414 (QalImpf) them to the founder, H6884 (QalActPtc) who made H6213 (QalImpf) thereof a graven image H6459 and a molten image: H4541 and they were in the house H1004 of Micah. H4321

και απεδωκεν το αργυριον τη μητρι αυτου και ελαβεν η μητηρ αυτου διακοσιους του αργυριου και εδωκεν αυτο τω χωνευτη και εποιησεν αυτο γλυπτον και χωνευτον και εγενετο εν τω οικω μιχα

The man Micah had a house of gods, and he made an ephod, and teraphim,° and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.

Judges 17:5 teraphim were household idols that may have been associated with inheritance rights to the household property.

And the man H376 Micah H4318 had an house H1004 of gods, H430 and made H6213 (QalImpf) an ephod, H646 and teraphim, H8655 and consecrated H4390 (PielImpf) H3027 one H259 of his sons, H1121 who became his priest. H3548

και ο ανηρ μιχα αυτω οικος θεου και εποιησεν εφουδ και θεραφιν και ενεπλησεν την χειρα ενος των υιων αυτου και εγενηθη αυτω εις ιερεα

The man departed out of the city, out of Bethlehem Judah, to live where he could find a place, and he came to the hill country of Ephraim, to the house of Micah, as he traveled.

And the man H376 departed H3212 (QalImpf) out of the city H5892 from Bethlehemjudah H1035 H3063 to sojourn H1481 (QalInf) where he could find H4672 (QalImpf) [a place]: and he came H935 (QalImpf) to mount H2022 Ephraim H669 to the house H1004 of Micah, H4318 as he journeyed. H6213 (QalInf) H1870

και επορευθη ο ανηρ εκ της πολεως ιουδα εκ βηθλεεμ παροικειν ου εαν ευρη και εγενηθη εις ορος εφραιμ εως οικου μιχα του ποιησαι την οδον αυτου

Micah consecrated the Levite, and the young man became his priest, and was in the house of Micah.

And Micah H4318 consecrated H4390 (PielImpf) H3027 the Levite; H3881 and the young man H5288 became his priest, H3548 and was in the house H1004 of Micah. H4318

και ενεπλησεν μιχα την χειρα του λευιτου και εγενηθη αυτω το παιδαριον εις ιερεα και ην εν τω οικω μιχα

The children of Dan sent five men of their family from their whole number, men of valor, from Zorah and from Eshtaol, to spy out the land and to search it. They said to them, “Go, explore the land!” They came to the hill country of Ephraim, to the house of Micah, and lodged there.

And the children H1121 of Dan H1835 sent H7971 (QalImpf) of their family H4940 five H2568 men H582 from their coasts, H7098 men H1121 of valour, H2428 from Zorah, H6881 and from Eshtaol, H847 to spy H7270 (PielInf) out the land, H776 and to search H2713 (QalInf) it; and they said H559 (QalImpf) unto them, Go, H3212 (QalImpv) search H2713 (QalImpv) the land: H776 who when they came H935 (QalImpf) to mount H2022 Ephraim, H669 to the house H1004 of Micah, H4318 they lodged H3885 (QalImpf) there.

και εξαπεστειλαν οι υιοι δαν εκ των συγγενειων αυτων πεντε ανδρας απο μερους αυτων υιους δυναμεως εκ σαραα και εσθαολ του κατασκεψασθαι την γην και εξιχνιασαι αυτην και ειπαν προς αυτους πορευεσθε και εξεραυνησατε την γην και παρεγενοντο εις ορος εφραιμ εως οικου μιχα και κατεπαυσαν εκει

When they were by the house of Micah, they knew the voice of the young man the Levite; so they went over there and said to him, “Who brought you here? What do you do in this place? What do you have here?”

When they [were] by the house H1004 of Micah, H4318 they knew H5234 (HiphPerf) the voice H6963 of the young man H5288 the Levite: H3881 and they turned in H5493 (QalImpf) thither, and said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, Who brought H935 (HiphPerf) thee hither? H1988 and what makest H6213 (QalActPtc) thou in this [place]? and what hast thou here?

αυτων οντων παρα τω οικω μιχα και αυτοι επεγνωσαν την φωνην του παιδαριου του νεωτερου του λευιτου και εξεκλιναν εκει και ειπαν αυτω τις ηγαγεν σε ωδε και τι ποιεις ενταυθα και τι σοι εστιν ωδε

They passed from there to the hill country of Ephraim, and came to the house of Micah.

And they passed H5674 (QalImpf) thence unto mount H2022 Ephraim, H669 and came H935 (QalImpf) unto the house H1004 of Micah. H4318

παρηλθαν εκειθεν και ηλθαν εως του ορους εφραιμ και ηλθον εως οικου μιχα

Then the five men who went to spy out the country of Laish answered and said to their brothers, “Do you know that there is in these houses an ephod, and teraphim,° and a carved image, and a molten image? Now therefore consider what you have to do.”

και απεκριθησαν οι πεντε ανδρες οι πορευομενοι κατασκεψασθαι την γην και ειπαν προς τους αδελφους αυτων ει οιδατε οτι εν τοις οικοις τουτοις εφουδ και θεραφιν και γλυπτον και χωνευτον και νυν γνωτε τι ποιησετε

They went over there and came to the house of the young Levite man, even to the house of Micah, and asked him how he was doing.

And they turned H5493 (QalImpf) thitherward, and came H935 (QalImpf) to the house H1004 of the young man H5288 the Levite, H3881 [even] unto the house H1004 of Micah, H4318 and saluted H7592 (QalImpf) H7965 him.

και εξεκλιναν εκει και εισηλθοσαν εις τον οικον του παιδαριου του λευιτου εις τον οικον μιχα και ησπασαντο αυτον

When these went into Micah’s house, and took the engraved image, the ephod, the teraphim, and the molten image, the priest said to them, “What are you doing?”

And these went H935 (QalPerf) into Micah’s H4318 house, H1004 and fetched H3947 (QalImpf) the carved image, H6459 the ephod, H646 and the teraphim, H8655 and the molten image. H4541 Then said H559 (QalImpf) the priest H3548 unto them, What do H6213 (QalActPtc) ye?

και ουτοι εισηλθον εις οικον μιχα και ελαβον το γλυπτον και το εφουδ και το θεραφιν και το χωνευτον και ειπεν προς αυτους ο ιερευς τι υμεις ποιειτε

They said to him, “Hold your peace, put your hand on your mouth, and go with us. Be a father and a priest to us. Is it better for you to be priest to the house of one man, or to be priest to a tribe and a family in Israel?”

And they said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, Hold thy peace, H2790 (HiphImpv) lay H7760 (QalImpv) thine hand H3027 upon thy mouth, H6310 and go H3212 (QalImpv) with us, and be to us H1961 (QalInf) a father H1 and a priest: H3548 [is it] better H2896 for thee to be a priest H3548 unto the house H1004 of one H259 man, H376 or that thou be a priest H3548 unto a tribe H7626 and a family H4940 in Israel? H3478

και ειπαν προς αυτον κωφευσον επιθες την χειρα σου επι το στομα σου και ελθε μεθ ημων και εση ημιν εις πατερα και εις ιερεα μη βελτιον ειναι σε ιερεα οικου ανδρος ενος η γινεσθαι σε ιερεα φυλης και συγγενειας εν ισραηλ

When they were a good way from the house of Micah, the men who were in the houses near Micah’s house gathered together and overtook the children of Dan.

[And] when they were a good way H7368 (HiphPerf) from the house H1004 of Micah, H4318 the men H582 that [were] in the houses H1004 near to Micah’s H4318 house H1004 were gathered together, H2199 (NiphPerf) and overtook H1692 (HiphImpf) the children H1121 of Dan. H1835

αυτων δε μεμακρυγκοτων απο του οικου μιχα και ιδου μιχα και οι ανδρες οι συν τω οικω μετα μιχα εκραζον κατοπισω υιων δαν

The children of Dan said to him, “Don’t let your voice be heard among us, lest angry fellows fall on you, and you lose your life, with the lives of your household.”

And the children H1121 of Dan H1835 said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, Let not thy voice H6963 be heard H8085 (HiphImpf) among us, lest angry H4751 H5315 fellows H582 run H6293 (QalImpf) upon thee, and thou lose H622 (QalPerf) thy life, H5315 with the lives H5315 of thy household. H1004

και ειπον προς αυτον οι υιοι δαν μη ακουσθητω δη η φωνη σου μεθ ημων μηποτε απαντησωσιν υμιν ανδρες κατωδυνοι ψυχη και προσθησεις την ψυχην σου και την ψυχην του οικου σου
