And I do it for My name’s sake, Not to pollute it before the eyes of the nations, In whose midst they are, Before whose eyes I became known to them, To bring them out from the land of Egypt.

So I caused them to go out of the land of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness.

Nevertheless I withdrew my hand and worked for my name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them out.

And I have turned back My hand, And I do it for My name’s sake, Not to pollute it before the eyes of the nations, Before whose eyes I brought them out.

I will bring you out from the peoples, and will gather you out of the countries in which you are scattered with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out.

I will purge out from among you the rebels and those who disobey me. I will bring them out of the land where they live, but they shall not enter into the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.”

I will accept you as a pleasant aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries in which you have been scattered. I will be sanctified in you in the sight of the nations.

With sweet fragrance I do accept you, In My bringing you out from the peoples, And I have assembled you from the lands In which ye have been scattered, And I have been sanctified in you Before the eyes of the nations.

Tell the land of Israel, ‘Yahweh says: “Behold, I am against you, and will draw my sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked.

and thou hast said unto the ground of Israel: Thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am against thee, And have brought out My sword from its scabbard, And have cut off from thee righteous and wicked.

Seeing then that I will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked, therefore my sword will go out of its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north.

Because that I have cut off from thee righteous and wicked, Therefore go out doth My sword from its scabbard, Unto all flesh, from south to north.

All flesh will know that I, Yahweh, have drawn my sword out of its sheath. It will not return any more.” ’

And known have all flesh that I, Jehovah, Have brought out My sword from its scabbard, It doth not turn back any more.

“Also, you son of man, appoint two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come. They both will come out of one land, and mark out a place. Mark it out at the head of the way to the city.

Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Woe to the city of blood, A pot whose scum is in it, And its scum hath not come out of it, By piece of it, by piece of it bring it out, Not fallen on it hath a lot.

She is weary with toil; yet her great rust, rust by fire, doesn’t leave her.

Now they tremble, is it not the day of thy fall? Troubled have been the isles that are in the sea, at thine outgoing.

When your wares came from the seas, you filled many peoples. You enriched the kings of the earth with the multitude of your riches and of your merchandise.

When thy wares H5801 went forth H3318 (QalInf) out of the seas, H3220 thou filledst H7646 (HiphPerf) many H7227 people; H5971 thou didst enrich H6238 (HiphPerf) the kings H4428 of the earth H776 with the multitude H7230 of thy riches H1952 and of thy merchandise. H4627

With the outgoing of thy remnants from the seas, Thou hast filled many peoples, With the abundance of thy riches, and thy merchandise, Thou hast made rich things of earth.

By the multitude of your iniquities, in the unrighteousness of your commerce, you have profaned your sanctuaries. Therefore I have brought out a fire from the middle of you. It has devoured you. I have turned you to ashes on the earth in the sight of all those who see you.

From the abundance of thy iniquity, By the perversity of thy traffic, Thou hast polluted thy sanctuaries, And I bring forth fire from thy midst, It hath devoured thee, And I make thee become ashes on the earth, Before the eyes of all beholding thee.

“ ‘ “In that day messengers will go out from before me in ships to make the careless Ethiopians afraid. There will be anguish on them, as in the day of Egypt; for, behold, it comes.”

And thou, son of man, the sons of thy people who are speaking about thee, By the walls, and in openings of the houses, Have spoken one with another, each with his brother, Saying: Come in, I pray you, And hear what is the word that cometh out from Jehovah.

I will bring them out from the peoples, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them into their own land. I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the watercourses, and in all the inhabited places of the country.

When they came to the nations where they went, they profaned my holy name, in that men said of them, ‘These are Yahweh’s people, and have left his land.’

And when they entered H935 (QalImpf) unto the heathen, H1471 whither they went, H935 (QalPerf) they profaned H2490 (PielImpf) my holy H6944 name, H8034 when they said H559 (QalInf) to them, These [are] the people H5971 of the Lord, H3068 and are gone forth H3318 (QalPerf) out of his land. H776

And one goeth in unto the nations whither they have gone, And they pollute My holy name by saying to them, The people of Jehovah are these, And from His land they have gone forth.

Yahweh’s hand was on me, and he brought me out in Yahweh’s Spirit, and set me down in the middle of the valley; and it was full of bones.

And I have turned thee back, And I have put hooks in thy jaws, And have brought thee out, and all thy force, Horses and horsemen, Clothed in perfection all of them, A numerous assembly, with buckler and shield, Handling swords-all of them.

After many days you will be visited. In the latter years you will come into the land that is brought back from the sword, that is gathered out of many peoples, on the mountains of Israel, which have been a continual waste; but it is brought out of the peoples and they will dwell securely, all of them.

After many H7227 days H3117 thou shalt be visited: H6485 (NiphImpf) in the latter H319 years H8141 thou shalt come H935 (QalImpf) into the land H776 [that is] brought back H7725 (PulaPtc) from the sword, H2719 [and is] gathered H6908 (PualPtc) out of many H7227 people, H5971 against the mountains H2022 of Israel, H3478 which have been always H8548 waste: H2723 but it is brought forth H3318 (HophPerf) out of the nations, H5971 and they shall dwell H3427 (QalPerf) safely H983 all of them.

After many days thou art appointed, In the latter end of the years thou comest in unto a land brought back from sword, A people gathered out of many peoples, Upon mountains of Israel, That have been for a perpetual waste, And it from the peoples hath been brought out, And dwelt safely have all of them.

“ ‘ “Those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go out and will make fires of the weapons and burn them, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the war clubs and the spears, and they will make fires with them for seven years;

And gone out have the inhabitants of cities of Israel, And they have burned and kindled a fire, With armour, and shield, and buckler, With bow, and with arrows, And with hand-staves, and with javelins, And they have caused a fire to burn with them seven years,

Then he brought me out into the outer court, the way toward the north. Then he brought me into the room that was opposite the separate place, and which was opposite the building toward the north.

Then he brought me forth H3318 (HiphImpf) into the utter H2435 court, H2691 the way toward H1870 the north: H6828 and he brought H935 (HiphImpf) me into the chamber H3957 that [was] over against the separate place, H1508 and which [was] before the building H1146 toward the north. H6828

When the priests enter in, then they shall not go out of the holy place into the outer court until they lay their garments in which they minister there; for they are holy. Then they shall put on other garments, and shall approach that which is for the people.”

In the priests’ going in, they come not out from the sanctuary unto the outer court, and there they place their garments with which they minister, for they are holy, and have put on other garments, and have drawn near unto that which is for the people.’

Now when he had finished measuring the inner house, he brought me out by the way of the gate which faces toward the east, and measured it all around.

As for the prince, he shall sit in it as prince to eat bread before Yahweh. He shall enter by the way of the porch of the gate, and shall go out the same way.”

When they go out into the outer court, even into the outer court to the people, they shall put off their garments in which they minister and lay them in the holy rooms. They shall put on other garments, that they not sanctify the people with their garments.

And in their going forth unto the outer court-unto the outer court unto the people-they strip off their garments, in which they are ministering, and have placed them in the holy chambers, and have put on other garments; and they do not sanctify the people in their own garments.

The prince shall enter by the way of the porch of the gate outside, and shall stand by the post of the gate; and the priests shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, and he shall worship at the threshold of the gate. Then he shall go out, but the gate shall not be shut until the evening.

and come in hath the prince the way of the porch of the gate at the outside, and he hath stood by the post of the gate, and the priests have made his burnt-offering, and his peace-offerings, and he hath bowed himself by the opening of the gate, and hath gone forth, and the gate is not shut till the evening.

When the prince enters, he shall go in by the way of the porch of the gate, and he shall go out by its way.

‘And in the coming in of the prince, the way of the porch of the gate he cometh in, and by its way he goeth out.

“ ‘ “But when the people of the land come before Yahweh in the appointed feasts, he who enters by the way of the north gate to worship shall go out by the way of the south gate; and he who enters by the way of the south gate shall go out by the way of the north gate. He shall not return by the way of the gate by which he came in, but shall go out straight before him.

And in the coming in of the people of the land before Jehovah at appointed times, he who hath come in the way of the north gate to bow himself, goeth out the way of the south gate, and he who hath come in the way of the south gate, goeth out by the way of the north gate: he doth not turn back the way of the gate by which he came in, but over-against it he goeth out.

The prince shall go in with them when they go in. When they go out, he shall go out.

And the prince H5387 in the midst H8432 of them, when they go in, H935 (QalInf) shall go in; H935 (QalImpf) and when they go forth, H3318 (QalInf) shall go forth. H3318 (QalImpf)

And the prince in their midst in their coming in cometh in, and in their going out he goeth out.

When the prince prepares a free will offering, a burnt offering or peace offerings as a free will offering to Yahweh, one shall open for him the gate that looks toward the east; and he shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, as he does on the Sabbath day. Then he shall go out; and after his going out one shall shut the gate.

Now when the prince H5387 shall prepare H6213 (QalImpf) a voluntary H5071 burnt offering H5930 or peace offerings H8002 voluntarily H5071 unto the Lord, H3068 [one] shall then open H6605 (QalPerf) him the gate H8179 that looketh H6437 (QalActPtc) toward the east, H6921 and he shall prepare H6213 (QalPerf) his burnt offering H5930 and his peace offerings, H8002 as he did H6213 (QalImpf) on the sabbath H7676 day: H3117 then he shall go forth; H3318 (QalPerf) and after H310 his going forth H3318 (QalInf) [one] shall shut H5462 (QalPerf) the gate. And when the prince maketh a free-will burnt-offering, or free-will peace-offerings, to Jehovah, then he hath opened for himself the gate that is looking eastward, and he hath made his burnt-offering and his peace-offerings as he doth in the day of rest, and he hath gone out, and he hath shut the gate after his going out.

He said to me, “This is the place where the priests shall boil the trespass offering and the sin offering, and where they shall bake the meal offering, that they not bring them out into the outer court, to sanctify the people.”

And he saith unto me, ‘This is the place where the priests do boil the guilt-offering and the sin-offering, where they bake the present, so as not to bring it out unto the outer court, to sanctify the people.’

Then he brought me out into the outer court and caused me to pass by the four corners of the court; and behold, in every corner of the court there was a court.

And he bringeth me out unto the outer court, and causeth me to pass over unto the four corners of the court, and lo, a court in a corner of the court, a court in a corner of the corner.

He brought me back to the door of the temple; and behold, waters flowed out from under the threshold of the temple eastward, for the front of the temple faced toward the east. The waters came down from underneath, from the right side of the temple, on the south of the altar.

Afterward he brought me again H7725 (HiphImpf) unto the door H6607 of the house; H1004 and, behold, waters H4325 issued out H3318 (QalActPtc) from under the threshold H4670 of the house H1004 eastward: H6921 for the forefront H6440 of the house H1004 [stood toward] the east, H6921 and the waters H4325 came down H3381 (QalActPtc) from under from the right H3233 side H3802 of the house, H1004 at the south H5045 [side] of the altar. H4196

And he causeth me to turn back unto the opening of the house; and lo, water is coming forth from under the threshold of the house eastward, for the front of the house is eastward, and the water is coming down from beneath, from the right side of the house, from the south of the altar.

Then he brought me out by the way of the gate northward, and led me around by the way outside to the outer gate, by the way of the gate that looks toward the east. Behold, waters ran out on the right side.

Then brought he me out H3318 (HiphImpf) of the way H1870 of the gate H8179 northward, H6828 and led me about H5437 (HiphImpf) the way H1870 without unto the utter H2351 gate H8179 by the way H1870 that looketh H6437 (QalActPtc) eastward; H6921 and, behold, there ran out H6379 (PielPtc) waters H4325 on the right H3233 side. And he causeth me to go out the way of the gate northward, and causeth me to turn round the way without, unto the gate that is without, the way that is looking eastward, and lo, water is coming forth from the right side.

When the man went out eastward with the line in his hand, he measured one thousand cubits,° and he caused me to pass through the waters, waters that were to the ankles.

Ezekiel 47:3 A cubit is the length from the tip of the middle finger to the elbow on a man’s arm, or about 18 inches or 46 centimeters.

And when the man H376 that had the line H6957 in his hand H3027 went forth H3318 (QalInf) eastward, H6921 he measured H4058 (QalImpf) a thousand H505 cubits, H520 and he brought me through H5674 (HiphImpf) the waters; H4325 the waters H4325 [were] to the ankles. H657

In the going out of the man eastward, and a line in his hand, then he measureth a thousand by the cubit, and he causeth me to pass over into water-water to the ankles.

Then he said to me, “These waters flow out toward the eastern region and will go down into the Arabah. Then they will go toward the sea and flow into the sea which will be made to flow out; and the waters will be healed.

And he saith unto me, ‘These waters are going forth unto the east circuit, and have gone down unto the desert, and have entered the sea; unto the sea they are brought forth, and the waters have been healed.

By the river banks, on both sides, will grow every tree for food, whose leaf won’t wither, neither will its fruit fail. It will produce new fruit every month, because its waters issue out of the sanctuary. Its fruit will be for food, and its leaf for healing.”

And by the river H5158 upon the bank H8193 thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow H5927 (QalImpf) all trees H6086 for meat, H3978 whose leaf H5929 shall not fade, H5034 (QalImpf) neither shall the fruit H6529 thereof be consumed: H8552 (QalImpf) it shall bring forth new fruit H1069 (PielImpf) according to his months, H2320 because their waters H4325 they issued out H3318 (QalActPtc) of the sanctuary: H4720 and the fruit H6529 thereof shall be for meat, H3978 and the leaf H5929 thereof for medicine. And by the stream there cometh up on its edge, on this side and on that side, every kind of fruit-tree whose leaf fadeth not, and not consumed is its fruit, according to its months it yieldeth first-fruits, because its waters from the sanctuary are coming forth; and its fruits hath been for food, and its leaf for medicine.

Out of one of them came out a little horn which grew exceedingly great—toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the glorious land.

And now, O Lord our God, who hast brought forth Thy people from the land of Egypt by a strong hand, and dost make for Thee a name as at this day, we have sinned, we have done wickedly.

He instructed me and talked with me, and said, “Daniel, I have now come to give you wisdom and understanding.

And he giveth understanding, and speaketh with me, and saith, ‘O Daniel, now I have come forth to cause thee to consider understanding wisely;

At the beginning of your petitions the commandment went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are greatly beloved. Therefore consider the matter and understand the vision.

At the beginning H8462 of thy supplications H8469 the commandment H1697 came forth, H3318 (QalPerf) and I am come H935 (QalPerf) to shew H5046 (HiphInf) [thee]; for thou [art] greatly beloved: H2532 therefore understand H995 (QalImpv) the matter, H1697 and consider H995 (HiphImpv) the vision. at the commencement of thy supplications hath the word come forth, and I have come to declare it, for thou art greatly desired, and understand thou concerning the matter, and consider concerning the appearance.

Then he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? Now I will return to fight with the prince of Persia. When I go out, behold, the prince of Greece will come.

And he saith, Hast thou known why I have come unto thee? and now I turn back to fight with the head of Persia; yea, I am going forth, and lo, the head of Javan hath come;

“The king of the south will be moved with anger and will come out and fight with him, even with the king of the north. He will send out a great multitude, and the multitude will be given into his hand.

And the king of the south doth become embittered, and hath gone forth and fought with him, with the king of the north, and hath caused a great multitude to stand, and the multitude hath been given into his hand,

But news out of the east and out of the north will trouble him; and he will go out with great fury to destroy and utterly to sweep away many.

‘And reports trouble him out of the east and out of the north, and he hath gone forth in great fury to destroy, and to devote many to destruction;
