^[10:37] και τα πρωτοτοκα υιων ημων και κτηνων ημων ως γεγραπται εν τω νομω και τα πρωτοτοκα βοων ημων και ποιμνιων ημων ενεγκαι εις οικον θεου ημων τοις ιερευσιν τοις λειτουργουσιν εν οικω θεου ημων

and that we should bring the first fruits of our dough, our wave offerings, the fruit of all kinds of trees, and the new wine and the oil, to the priests, to the rooms of the house of our God; and the tithes of our ground to the Levites; for they, the Levites, take the tithes in all our farming villages.

^[10:38] και την απαρχην σιτων ημων και τον καρπον παντος ξυλου οινου και ελαιου οισομεν τοις ιερευσιν εις γαζοφυλακιον οικου του θεου και δεκατην γης ημων τοις λευιταις και αυτοι οι λευιται δεκατουντες εν πασαις πολεσιν δουλειας ημων

The priest, the descendent of Aaron, shall be with the Levites when the Levites take tithes. The Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes to the house of our God, to the rooms, into the treasure house.

For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the wave offering of the grain, of the new wine, and of the oil, to the rooms where the vessels of the sanctuary are, and the priests who minister, with the gatekeepers and the singers. We will not forsake the house of our God.

By the spring gate, and straight before them, they went up by the stairs of David’s city, at the ascent of the wall, above David’s house, even to the water gate eastward.

So the two companies of those who gave thanks in God’s house stood, and I and the half of the rulers with me;

Now before this, Eliashib the priest, who was appointed over the rooms of the house of our God, being allied to Tobiah,

και προ τουτου ελιασιβ ο ιερευς οικων εν γαζοφυλακιω οικου θεου ημων εγγιων τωβια

and I came to Jerusalem, and understood the evil that Eliashib had done for Tobiah, in preparing him a room in the courts of God’s house.

και ηλθον εις ιερουσαλημ και συνηκα εν τη πονηρια η εποιησεν ελισουβ τω τωβια ποιησαι αυτω γαζοφυλακιον εν αυλη οικου του θεου

It grieved me severely. Therefore I threw all Tobiah’s household stuff out of the room.

και πονηρον μοι εφανη σφοδρα και ερριψα παντα τα σκευη οικου τωβια εξω απο του γαζοφυλακιου

Then I commanded, and they cleansed the rooms. I brought into them the vessels of God’s house, with the meal offerings and the frankincense again.

Then I contended with the rulers, and said, “Why is God’s house forsaken?” I gathered them together, and set them in their place.

και εμαχεσαμην τοις στρατηγοις και ειπα δια τι εγκατελειφθη ο οικος του θεου και συνηγαγον αυτους και εστησα αυτους επι τη στασει αυτων

Remember me, my God, concerning this, and don’t wipe out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for its observances.

Remember H2142 (QalImpv) me, O my God, H430 concerning this, and wipe not out H4229 (HiphImpf) my good H2617 deeds that I have done H6213 (QalPerf) for the house H1004 of my God, H430 and for the offices H4929 thereof.

μνησθητι μου ο θεος εν ταυτη και μη εξαλειφθητω ελεος μου ο εποιησα εν οικω κυριου του θεου

In accordance with the law, the drinking was not compulsory; for so the king had instructed all the officials of his house, that they should do according to every man’s pleasure.

Also Vashti the queen made a feast for the women in the royal house which belonged to King Ahasuerus.

και αστιν η βασιλισσα εποιησε ποτον ταις γυναιξιν εν τοις βασιλειοις οπου ο βασιλευς αρταξερξης

for he sent letters into all the king’s provinces, into every province according to its writing, and to every people in their language, that every man should rule his own house, speaking in the language of his own people.

Let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather together all the beautiful young virgins to the citadel of Susa, to the women’s house, to the custody of Hegai the king’s eunuch, keeper of the women. Let cosmetics be given them;

So, when the king’s commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together to the citadel of Susa, to the custody of Hegai, Esther was taken into the king’s house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.

So it came to pass, when the king’s H4428 commandment H1697 and his decree H1881 was heard, H8085 (NiphInf) and when many H7227 maidens H5291 were gathered together H6908 (NiphInf) unto Shushan H7800 the palace, H1002 to the custody H3027 of Hegai, H1896 that Esther H635 was brought H3947 (NiphImpf) also unto the king’s H4428 house, H1004 to the custody H3027 of Hegai, H1896 keeper H8104 (QalActPtc) of the women. και οτε ηκουσθη το του βασιλεως προσταγμα συνηχθησαν κορασια πολλα εις σουσαν την πολιν υπο χειρα γαι και ηχθη εσθηρ προς γαι τον φυλακα των γυναικων

The maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness from him. He quickly gave her cosmetics and her portions of food, and the seven choice maidens who were to be given her out of the king’s house. He moved her and her maidens to the best place in the women’s house.

And the maiden H5291 pleased H3190 (QalImpf) H5869 him, and she obtained H5375 (QalImpf) kindness H2617 of him; H6440 and he speedily H926 (PielImpf) gave H5414 (QalInf) her her things for purification, H8562 with such things as belonged H4490 to her, and seven H7651 maidens, H5291 [which were] meet H7200 (QalPasPtc) to be given H5414 (QalInf) her, out of the king’s H4428 house: H1004 and he preferred H8138 (PielImpf) her and her maids H5291 unto the best H2896 [place] of the house H1004 of the women. και ηρεσεν αυτω το κορασιον και ευρεν χαριν ενωπιον αυτου και εσπευσεν αυτη δουναι το σμηγμα και την μεριδα και τα επτα κορασια τα αποδεδειγμενα αυτη εκ βασιλικου και εχρησατο αυτη καλως και ταις αβραις αυτης εν τω γυναικωνι

Mordecai walked every day in front of the court of the women’s house, to find out how Esther was doing, and what would become of her.

And Mordecai H4782 walked H1980 (HithPtc) every day H3117 before H6440 the court H2691 of the women’s H802 house, H1004 to know H3045 (QalInf) how Esther H635 did, H7965 and what should become H6213 (NiphImpf) of her.

καθ εκαστην δε ημεραν ο μαρδοχαιος περιεπατει κατα την αυλην την γυναικειαν επισκοπων τι εσθηρ συμβησεται

The young woman then came to the king like this: whatever she desired was given her to go with her out of the women’s house to the king’s house.

Then thus came H935 (QalActPtc) [every] maiden H5291 unto the king; H4428 whatsoever she desired H559 (QalImpf) was given H5414 (NiphImpf) her to go H935 (QalInf) with her out of the house H1004 of the women H802 unto the king’s H4428 house. H1004

και τοτε εισπορευεται προς τον βασιλεα και ο εαν ειπη παραδωσει αυτη συνεισερχεσθαι αυτη απο του γυναικωνος εως των βασιλειων

In the evening she went, and on the next day she returned into the second women’s house, to the custody of Shaashgaz, the king’s eunuch, who kept the concubines. She came in to the king no more, unless the king delighted in her, and she was called by name.

δειλης εισπορευεται και προς ημεραν αποτρεχει εις τον γυναικωνα τον δευτερον ου γαι ο ευνουχος του βασιλεως ο φυλαξ των γυναικων και ουκετι εισπορευεται προς τον βασιλεα εαν μη κληθη ονοματι

So Esther was taken to King Ahasuerus into his royal house in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.

So Esther H635 was taken H3947 (NiphImpf) unto king H4428 Ahasuerus H325 into his house H1004 royal H4438 in the tenth H6224 month, H2320 which [is] the month H2320 Tebeth, H2887 in the seventh H7651 year H8141 of his reign. H4438

και εισηλθεν εσθηρ προς αρταξερξην τον βασιλεα τω δωδεκατω μηνι ος εστιν αδαρ τω εβδομω ετει της βασιλειας αυτου

Then Mordecai asked them to return this answer to Esther: “Don’t think to yourself that you will escape in the king’s house any more than all the Jews.

Then Mordecai H4782 commanded H559 (QalImpf) to answer H7725 (HiphInf) Esther, H635 Think H1819 (PielImpf) not with thyself H5315 that thou shalt escape H4422 (NiphInf) in the king’s H4428 house, H1004 more than all the Jews. H3064

και ειπεν μαρδοχαιος προς αχραθαιον πορευθητι και ειπον αυτη εσθηρ μη ειπης σεαυτη οτι σωθηση μονη εν τη βασιλεια παρα παντας τους ιουδαιους

For if you remain silent now, then relief and deliverance will come to the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Who knows if you haven’t come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

For if thou altogether H2790 (HiphInf) holdest thy peace H2790 (HiphImpf) at this time, H6256 [then] shall there enlargement H7305 and deliverance H2020 arise H5975 (QalImpf) to the Jews H3064 from another H312 place; H4725 but thou and thy father’s H1 house H1004 shall be destroyed: H6 (QalImpf) and who knoweth H3045 (QalActPtc) whether thou art come H5060 (HiphPerf) to the kingdom H4438 for [such] a time H6256 as this?

ως οτι εαν παρακουσης εν τουτω τω καιρω αλλοθεν βοηθεια και σκεπη εσται τοις ιουδαιοις συ δε και ο οικος του πατρος σου απολεισθε και τις οιδεν ει εις τον καιρον τουτον εβασιλευσας

Now on the third day, Esther put on her royal clothing and stood in the inner court of the king’s house, next to the king’s house. The king sat on his royal throne in the royal house, next to the entrance of the house.

Now it came to pass on the third H7992 day, H3117 that Esther H635 put on H3847 (QalImpf) [her] royal H4438 [apparel], and stood H5975 (QalImpf) in the inner H6442 court H2691 of the king’s H4428 house, H1004 over against H5227 the king’s H4428 house: H1004 and the king H4428 sat H3427 (QalActPtc) upon his royal H4438 throne H3678 in the royal H4438 house, H1004 over against H5227 the gate H6607 of the house. και εγενηθη εν τη ημερα τη τριτη ως επαυσατο προσευχομενη εξεδυσατο τα ιματια της θεραπειας και περιεβαλετο την δοξαν αυτης (5:1Α) και γενηθεισα επιφανης επικαλεσαμενη τον παντων εποπτην θεον και σωτηρα παρελαβεν τας δυο αβρας και τη μεν μια επηρειδετο ως τρυφερευομενη η δε ετερα επηκολουθει κουφιζουσα την ενδυσιν αυτης (5:1Β) και αυτη ερυθριωσα ακμη καλλους αυτης και το προσωπον αυτης ιλαρον ως προσφιλες η δε καρδια αυτης απεστενωμενη απο του φοβου (5:1Χ) και εισελθουσα πασας τας θυρας κατεστη ενωπιον του βασιλεως και αυτος εκαθητο επι του θρονου της βασιλειας αυτου και πασαν στολην της επιφανειας αυτου ενεδεδυκει ολος δια χρυσου και λιθων πολυτελων και ην φοβερος σφοδρα (5:1Δ) και αρας το προσωπον αυτου πεπυρωμενον δοξη εν ακμη θυμου εβλεψεν και επεσεν η βασιλισσα και μετεβαλεν το χρωμα αυτης εν εκλυσει και κατεπεκυψεν επι την κεφαλην της αβρας της προπορευομενης (5:1Ε) και μετεβαλεν ο θεος το πνευμα του βασιλεως εις πραυτητα και αγωνιασας ανεπηδησεν απο του θρονου αυτου κανελαβεν αυτην επι τας αγκαλας αυτου μεχρις ου κατεστη και παρεκαλει αυτην λογοις ειρηνικοις και ειπεν αυτη (5:1Φ) τι εστιν εσθηρ εγω ο αδελφος σου θαρσει ου μη αποθανης οτι κοινον το προσταγμα ημων εστιν προσελθε

Nevertheless Haman restrained himself, and went home. There, he sent and called for his friends and Zeresh his wife.

Nevertheless Haman H2001 refrained H662 (HithImpf) himself: and when he came H935 (QalImpf) home, H1004 he sent H7971 (QalImpf) and called H935 (HiphImpf) for his friends, H157 (QalActPtc) and Zeresh H2238 his wife. H802

και εισελθων εις τα ιδια εκαλεσεν τους φιλους και ζωσαραν την γυναικα αυτου

The king said, “Who is in the court?” Now Haman had come into the outer court of the king’s house, to speak to the king about hanging Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.

H2691 Now Haman H2001 was come H935 (QalPerf) into the outward H2435 court H2691 of the king’s H4428 house, H1004 to speak H559 (QalInf) unto the king H4428 to hang H8518 (QalInf) Mordecai H4782 on the gallows H6086 that he had prepared H3559 (HiphPerf) for him.

εν δε τω πυνθανεσθαι τον βασιλεα περι της ευνοιας μαρδοχαιου ιδου αμαν εν τη αυλη ειπεν δε ο βασιλευς τις εν τη αυλη ο δε αμαν εισηλθεν ειπειν τω βασιλει κρεμασαι τον μαρδοχαιον επι τω ξυλω ω ητοιμασεν

Mordecai came back to the king’s gate, but Haman hurried to his house, mourning and having his head covered.

And Mordecai H4782 came again H7725 (QalImpf) to the king’s H4428 gate. H8179 But Haman H2001 hasted H1765 (NiphPerf) to his house H1004 mourning, H57 and having his head H7218 covered. H2645 (QalActPtc)

επεστρεψεν δε ο μαρδοχαιος εις την αυλην αμαν δε υπεστρεψεν εις τα ιδια λυπουμενος κατα κεφαλης

Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman had fallen on the couch where Esther was. Then the king said, “Will he even assault the queen in front of me in the house?” As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face.

επεστρεψεν δε ο βασιλευς εκ του κηπου αμαν δε επιπεπτωκει επι την κλινην αξιων την βασιλισσαν ειπεν δε ο βασιλευς ωστε και την γυναικα βιαζη εν τη οικια μου αμαν δε ακουσας διετραπη τω προσωπω

Then Harbonah, one of the eunuchs who were with the king, said, “Behold, the gallows fifty cubits° high, which Haman has made for Mordecai, who spoke good for the king, is standing at Haman’s house.” The king said, “Hang him on it!”

Esther 7:9 A cubit is the length from the tip of the middle finger to the elbow on a man’s arm, or about 18 inches or 46 centimeters.

On that day, King Ahasuerus gave the house of Haman, the Jews’ enemy, to Esther the queen. Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he was to her.

The king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai. Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.

Then King Ahasuerus said to Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, “See, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and they have hanged him on the gallows because he laid his hand on the Jews.

For Mordecai was great in the king’s house, and his fame went out throughout all the provinces, for the man Mordecai grew greater and greater.

συμπορευομενοι δε οι υιοι αυτου προς αλληλους εποιουσαν ποτον καθ εκαστην ημεραν συμπαραλαμβανοντες αμα και τας τρεις αδελφας αυτων εσθιειν και πινειν μετ αυτων

Haven’t you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

and behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young men, and they are dead. I alone have escaped to tell you.”

εξαιφνης πνευμα μεγα επηλθεν εκ της ερημου και ηψατο των τεσσαρων γωνιων της οικιας και επεσεν η οικια επι τα παιδια σου και ετελευτησαν εσωθην δε εγω μονος και ηλθον του απαγγειλαι σοι

or with princes who had gold, who filled their houses with silver;

η μετα αρχοντων ων πολυς ο χρυσος οι επλησαν τους οικους αυτων αργυριου

How much more those who dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed before the moth!

τους δε κατοικουντας οικιας πηλινας εξ ων και αυτοι εκ του αυτου πηλου εσμεν επαισεν αυτους σητος τροπον

He will return no more to his house, neither will his place know him any more.

ουδ ου μη επιστρεψη ετι εις τον ιδιον οικον ουδε μη επιγνω αυτον ετι ο τοπος αυτου

He will lean on his house, but it will not stand. He will cling to it, but it will not endure.
