The king of Egypt didn’t come out of his land any more; for the king of Babylon had taken, from the brook of Egypt to the river Euphrates, all that belonged to the king of Egypt.

και επαταξεν δαυιδ τον αδρααζαρ βασιλεα σουβα ημαθ πορευομενου αυτου επιστησαι χειρα αυτου επι ποταμον ευφρατην

When the Syrians saw that they were defeated by Israel, they sent messengers and called out the Syrians who were beyond the River,^§ with Shophach the captain of the army of Hadadezer leading them.

και συνηξα αυτους προς τον ποταμον τον ερχομενον προς τον ευι και παρενεβαλομεν εκει ημερας τρεις και συνηκα εν τω λαω και εν τοις ιερευσιν και απο υιων λευι ουχ ευρον εκει

Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from him a straight way for us, for our little ones, and for all our possessions.

Then I proclaimed H7121 (QalImpf) a fast H6685 there, at the river H5104 of Ahava, H163 that we might afflict H6031 (HithInf) ourselves before H6440 our God, H430 to seek H1245 (PielInf) of him a right H3477 way H1870 for us, and for our little ones, H2945 and for all our substance. H7399

και εκαλεσα εκει νηστειαν επι τον ποταμον αουε του ταπεινωθηναι ενωπιον θεου ημων ζητησαι παρ αυτου οδον ευθειαν ημιν και τοις τεκνοις ημων και παση τη κτησει ημων

Then we departed from the river Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go to Jerusalem. The hand of our God was on us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy and the bandits by the way.

και εξηραμεν απο του ποταμου αουε εν τη δωδεκατη του μηνος του πρωτου του ελθειν εις ιερουσαλημ και χειρ θεου ημων ην εφ ημιν και ερρυσατο ημας απο χειρος εχθρου και πολεμιου εν τη οδω

They delivered the king’s commissions to the king’s local governors and to the governors beyond the River. So they supported the people and God’s house.

And they delivered H5414 (QalImpf) the king’s H4428 commissions H1881 unto the king’s H4428 lieutenants, H323 and to the governors H6346 on this side H5676 the river: H5104 and they furthered H5375 (PielPerf) the people, H5971 and the house H1004 of God. H430

και εδωκαν το νομισμα του βασιλεως τοις διοικηταις του βασιλεως και επαρχοις περαν του ποταμου και εδοξασαν τον λαον και τον οικον του θεου

Moreover I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the River, that they may let me pass through until I come to Judah;

και ειπα τω βασιλει ει επι τον βασιλεα αγαθον δοτω μοι επιστολας προς τους επαρχους περαν του ποταμου ωστε παραγαγειν με εως ελθω επι ιουδαν

Then I came to the governors beyond the River, and gave them the king’s letters. Now the king had sent captains of the army and horsemen with me.

Then I came H935 (QalImpf) to the governors H6346 beyond H5676 the river, H5104 and gave H5414 (QalImpf) them the king’s H4428 letters. H107 Now the king H4428 had sent H7971 (QalImpf) captains H8269 of the army H2428 and horsemen H6571 with me.

και ηλθον προς τους επαρχους περαν του ποταμου και εδωκα αυτοις τας επιστολας του βασιλεως και απεστειλεν μετ εμου ο βασιλευς αρχηγους δυναμεως και ιππεις

Next to them, Melatiah the Gibeonite and Jadon the Meronothite, the men of Gibeon and of Mizpah, repaired the residence of the governor beyond the River.

And next unto them H3027 repaired H2388 (HiphPerf) Melatiah H4424 the Gibeonite, H1393 and Jadon H3036 the Meronothite, H4824 the men H582 of Gibeon, H1391 and of Mizpah, H4709 unto the throne H3678 of the governor H6346 on this side H5676 the river. H5104

As the waters fail from the sea, and the river wastes and dries up,

[As] the waters H4325 fail H235 (QalPerf) from the sea, H3220 and the flood H5104 decayeth H2717 (QalImpf) and drieth up: H3001 (QalPerf)

χρονω γαρ σπανιζεται θαλασσα ποταμος δε ερημωθεις εξηρανθη

He will not look at the rivers, the flowing streams of honey and butter.

He shall not see H7200 (QalImpf) the rivers, H6390 the floods, H5104 the brooks H5158 of honey H1706 and butter. H2529

μη ιδοι αμελξιν νομαδων μηδε νομας μελιτος και βουτυρου

who were snatched away before their time, whose foundation was poured out as a stream,

οι συνελημφθησαν αωροι ποταμος επιρρεων οι θεμελιοι αυτων

He binds the streams that they don’t trickle. The thing that is hidden he brings out to light.

He bindeth H2280 (PielPerf) the floods H5104 from overflowing; H1065 and [the thing that is] hid H8587 bringeth he forth H3318 (HiphImpf) to light. H216

βαθη δε ποταμων ανεκαλυψεν εδειξεν δε εαυτου δυναμιν εις φως

Behold, if a river overflows, he doesn’t tremble. He is confident, though the Jordan swells even to his mouth.

Behold, he drinketh up H6231 (QalImpf) a river, H5104 [and] hasteth H2648 (QalImpf) not: he trusteth H982 (QalImpf) that he can draw up H1518 (QalImpf) Jordan H3383 into his mouth. H6310

εαν γενηται πλημμυρα ου μη αισθηθη πεποιθεν οτι προσκρουσει ο ιορδανης εις το στομα αυτου

For he has founded it on the seas, and established it on the floods.

For he hath founded H3245 (QalPerf) it upon the seas, H3220 and established H3559 (PoleImpf) it upon the floods. H5104

^[23:2] αυτος επι θαλασσων εθεμελιωσεν αυτην και επι ποταμων ητοιμασεν αυτην

There is a river, the streams of which make the city of God glad, the holy place of the tents of the Most High.

He turned the sea into dry land. They went through the river on foot. There, we rejoiced in him.
