Because they have forsaken me, and have defiled this place, and have burned incense in it to other gods that they didn’t know—they, their fathers, and the kings of Judah—and have filled this place with the blood of innocents,

Is this man Coniah a despised broken vessel? Is he a vessel in which no one delights? Why are they cast out, he and his offspring, and cast into a land which they don’t know?

ητιμωθη ιεχονιας ως σκευος ου ουκ εστιν χρεια αυτου οτι εξερριφη και εξεβληθη εις γην ην ουκ ηδει

I will give them a heart to know me, that I am Yahweh. They will be my people, and I will be their God; for they will return to me with their whole heart.

Jeremiah 40:14 Heb. to strike thee in soul?

^[47:14] και ειπαν αυτω ει γνωσει γινωσκεις οτι βελισα βασιλευς υιων αμμων απεστειλεν προς σε τον ισμαηλ παταξαι σου ψυχην και ουκ επιστευσεν αυτοις γοδολιας

Then Johanan the son of Kareah spoke to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, “Please let me go, and I will kill Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man will know it. Why should he take your life, that all the Jews who are gathered to you should be scattered, and the remnant of Judah perish?”

Now therefore know certainly that you will die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence in the place where you desire to go to live.”

Then all the men who knew that their wives burned incense to other gods, and all the women who stood by, a great assembly, even all the people who lived in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,

Those who escape the sword will return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah few in number. All the remnant of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt to live there, will know whose word will stand, mine or theirs.

“ ‘This will be the sign to you,’ says Yahweh, ‘that I will punish you in this place, that you may know that my words will surely stand against you for evil.’

And this shall be a sign H226 unto you, saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord, H3068 that I will punish H6485 (QalActPtc) you in this place, H4725 that ye may know H3045 (QalImpf) that my words H1697 shall surely H6965 (QalInf) stand H6965 (QalImpf) against you for evil: H7451

^[51:29] και τουτο υμιν το σημειον οτι επισκεψομαι εγω εφ υμας εις πονηρα

All you who are around him, bemoan him; and all you who know his name, say, ‘How the strong staff is broken, the beautiful rod!’

^[31:17] κινησατε αυτω παντες κυκλοθεν αυτου παντες ειδοτες ονομα αυτου ειπατε πως συνετριβη βακτηρια ευκλεης ραβδος μεγαλωματος

I know his wrath,” says Yahweh, “that it is nothing; his boastings have done nothing.

I have laid a snare for you, and you are also taken, Babylon, and you weren’t aware. You are found, and also caught, because you have fought against Yahweh.

^[27:24] επιθησονται σοι και αλωση ω βαβυλων και ου γνωση ευρεθης και ελημφθης οτι τω κυριω αντεστης

They, whether they will hear, or whether they will refuse—for they are a rebellious house—yet they will know that there has been a prophet among them.

And they, whether they will hear, H8085 (QalImpf) or whether they will forbear, H2308 (QalImpf) (for they are a rebellious H4805 house,) H1004 yet shall know H3045 (QalPerf) that there hath been a prophet H5030 among H8432 them.

εαν αρα ακουσωσιν η πτοηθωσιν διοτι οικος παραπικραινων εστιν και γνωσονται οτι προφητης ει συ εν μεσω αυτων

“ ‘Thus my anger will be accomplished, and I will cause my wrath toward them to rest, and I will be comforted. They will know that I, Yahweh, have spoken in my zeal, when I have accomplished my wrath on them.

Thus shall mine anger H639 be accomplished, H3615 (QalPerf) and I will cause my fury H2534 to rest H5117 (HiphPerf) upon them, and I will be comforted: H5162 (HithPerf) and they shall know H3045 (QalPerf) that I the Lord H3068 have spoken H1696 (PielPerf) it in my zeal, H7068 when I have accomplished H3615 (PielInf) my fury H2534 in them.

και συντελεσθησεται ο θυμος μου και η οργη μου επ αυτους και επιγνωση διοτι εγω κυριος λελαληκα εν ζηλω μου εν τω συντελεσαι με την οργην μου επ αυτους

The slain will fall among you, and you will know that I am Yahweh.

And the slain H2491 shall fall H5307 (QalPerf) in the midst H8432 of you, and ye shall know H3045 (QalPerf) that I am the Lord. H3068

και πεσουνται τραυματιαι εν μεσω υμων και επιγνωσεσθε οτι εγω κυριος

They will know that I am Yahweh. I have not said in vain that I would do this evil to them.” ’

And they shall know H3045 (QalPerf) that I am the Lord, H3068 and that I have not said H1696 (PielPerf) in vain H2600 that I would do H6213 (QalInf) this evil H7451 unto them.

και επιγνωσονται διοτι εγω κυριος λελαληκα

You will know that I am Yahweh when their slain men are among their idols around their altars, on every high hill, on all the tops of the mountains, under every green tree, and under every thick oak—the places where they offered pleasant aroma to all their idols.

και γνωσεσθε διοτι εγω κυριος εν τω ειναι τους τραυματιας υμων εν μεσω των ειδωλων υμων κυκλω των θυσιαστηριων υμων επι παντα βουνον υψηλον και υποκατω δενδρου συσκιου ου εδωκαν εκει οσμην ευωδιας πασι τοις ειδωλοις αυτων

I will stretch out my hand on them and make the land desolate and waste, from the wilderness toward Diblah, throughout all their habitations. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.’ ”

και εκτενω την χειρα μου επ αυτους και θησομαι την γην εις αφανισμον και εις ολεθρον απο της ερημου δεβλαθα εκ πασης της κατοικιας και επιγνωσεσθε οτι εγω κυριος

My eye will not spare you, neither will I have pity; but I will bring your ways on you, and your abominations will be among you. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.’

And mine eye H5869 shall not spare H2347 (QalImpf) thee, neither will I have pity: H2550 (QalImpf) but I will recompense H5414 (QalImpf) thy ways H1870 upon thee, and thine abominations H8441 shall be in the midst H8432 of thee: and ye shall know H3045 (QalPerf) that I am the Lord. H3068

My eye won’t spare, neither will I have pity. I will punish you according to your ways. Your abominations will be among you. Then you will know that I, Yahweh, strike.

Ezekiel 7:9 Heb. upon thee

^[7:6] ου φεισεται ο οφθαλμος μου ουδε μη ελεησω διοτι τας οδους σου επι σε δωσω και τα βδελυγματα σου εν μεσω σου εσονται και επιγνωση διοτι εγω ειμι κυριος ο τυπτων

The king will mourn, and the prince will be clothed with desolation. The hands of the people of the land will be troubled. I will do to them after their way, and according to their own judgments I will judge them. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.’ ”

I will set my face against that man and will make him an astonishment, for a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from among my people. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.

They will comfort you, when you see their way and their doings; then you will know that I have not done all that I have done in it without cause,” says the Lord Yahweh.

I will set my face against them. They will go out from the fire, but the fire will still devour them. Then you will know that I am Yahweh, when I set my face against them.
