Exodus 21:20 Heb. avenged

εαν δε τις παταξη τον παιδα αυτου η την παιδισκην αυτου εν ραβδω και αποθανη υπο τας χειρας αυτου δικη εκδικηθητω

“If a man strikes his servant’s eye, or his maid’s eye, and destroys it, he shall let him go free for his eye’s sake.

εαν δε τις παταξη τον οφθαλμον του οικετου αυτου η τον οφθαλμον της θεραπαινης αυτου και εκτυφλωση ελευθερους εξαποστελει αυτους αντι του οφθαλμου αυτων

If the thief is found breaking in, and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt of bloodshed for him.

If a thief H1590 be found H4672 (NiphImpf) breaking up, H4290 and be smitten H5221 (HophPerf) that he die, H4191 (QalPerf) there shall no blood H1818 be shed for him.

Leviticus 24:17 Heb. smiteth the life of a man

και ανθρωπος ος αν παταξη ψυχην ανθρωπου και αποθανη θανατω θανατουσθω

He who strikes an animal mortally shall make it good, life for life.

And he that killeth H5221 (HiphPtc) a beast H5315 H929 shall make it good; H7999 (PielImpf) beast H5315 for beast.^§ H5315

Leviticus 24:18 Heb. life for life

και ος αν παταξη κτηνος και αποθανη αποτεισατω ψυχην αντι ψυχης

He who kills an animal shall make it good; and he who kills a man shall be put to death.

I will strike them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of you a nation greater and mightier than they.”
