εν δε τη ημερα τη εβδομη ηδεως γενομενος ο βασιλευς ειπεν τω αμαν και βαζαν και θαρρα και βωραζη και ζαθολθα και αβαταζα και θαραβα τοις επτα ευνουχοις τοις διακονοις του βασιλεως αρταξερξου

But the queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s commandment by the eunuchs. Therefore the king was very angry, and his anger burned in him.

“What shall we do to Queen Vashti according to law, because she has not done the bidding of the King Ahasuerus by the eunuchs?”

και απηγγειλαν αυτω κατα τους νομους ως δει ποιησαι αστιν τη βασιλισση οτι ουκ εποιησεν τα υπο του βασιλεως προσταχθεντα δια των ευνουχων

Let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather together all the beautiful young virgins to the citadel of Susa, to the women’s house, to the custody of Hegai the king’s eunuch, keeper of the women. Let cosmetics be given them;

In those days, while Mordecai was sitting in the king’s gate, two of the king’s eunuchs, Bigthan and Teresh, who were doorkeepers, were angry, and sought to lay hands on the King Ahasuerus.

Esther’s maidens and her eunuchs came and told her this, and the queen was exceedingly grieved. She sent clothing to Mordecai, to replace his sackcloth, but he didn’t receive it.

Then Esther called for Hathach, one of the king’s eunuchs, whom he had appointed to attend her, and commanded him to go to Mordecai, to find out what this was, and why it was.

ευρεν δε τα γραμματα τα γραφεντα περι μαρδοχαιου ως απηγγειλεν τω βασιλει περι των δυο ευνουχων του βασιλεως εν τω φυλασσειν αυτους και ζητησαι επιβαλειν τας χειρας αρταξερξη

While they were yet talking with him, the king’s eunuchs came, and hurried to bring Haman to the banquet that Esther had prepared.

Then Harbonah, one of the eunuchs who were with the king, said, “Behold, the gallows fifty cubits° high, which Haman has made for Mordecai, who spoke good for the king, is standing at Haman’s house.” The king said, “Hang him on it!”

Then Johanan the son of Kareah and all the captains of the forces who were with him took all the remnant of the people whom he had recovered from Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, from Mizpah, after he had killed Gedaliah the son of Ahikam—the men of war, with the women, the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought back from Gibeon.

Then took H3947 (QalImpf) Johanan H3110 the son H1121 of Kareah, H7143 and all the captains H8269 of the forces H2428 that [were] with him, all the remnant H7611 of the people H5971 whom he had recovered H7725 (HiphPerf) from Ishmael H3458 the son H1121 of Nethaniah, H5418 from Mizpah, H4709 after H310 [that] he had slain H5221 (HiphPerf) Gedaliah H1436 the son H1121 of Ahikam, H296 [even] mighty H1397 men H582 of war, H4421 and the women, H802 and the children, H2945 and the eunuchs, H5631 whom he had brought again H7725 (HiphPerf) from Gibeon: H1391

^[48:16] και ελαβεν ιωαναν και παντες οι ηγεμονες της δυναμεως οι μετ αυτου παντας τους καταλοιπους του λαου ους απεστρεψεν απο ισμαηλ δυνατους ανδρας εν πολεμω και τας γυναικας και τα λοιπα και τους ευνουχους ους απεστρεψεν απο γαβαων

and out of the city he took an officer who was set over the men of war; and seven men of those who saw the king’s face, who were found in the city; and the scribe of the captain of the army, who mustered the people of the land; and sixty men of the people of the land, who were found in the middle of the city.

He took H3947 (QalPerf) also out of the city H5892 an H259 eunuch, H5631 which had the charge H6496 of the men H582 of war; H4421 and seven H7651 men H582 of them that were near H7200 (QalActPtc) the king’s H4428 person, H6440 which were found H4672 (NiphPerf) in the city; H5892 and the principal H8269 scribe H5608 (QalActPtc) of the host, H6635 who mustered H6633 (HiphPtc) the people H5971 of the land; H776 and threescore H8346 men H376 of the people H5971 of the land, H776 that were found H4672 (NiphPtc) in the midst H8432 of the city. H5892

και ευνουχον ενα ος ην επιστατης των ανδρων των πολεμιστων και επτα ανδρας ονομαστους τους εν προσωπω του βασιλεως τους ευρεθεντας εν τη πολει και τον γραμματεα των δυναμεων τον γραμματευοντα τω λαω της γης και εξηκοντα ανθρωπους εκ του λαου της γης τους ευρεθεντας εν μεσω της πολεως

The king spoke to Ashpenaz, the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring in some of the children of Israel, even of the royal offspring^§ and of the nobles:

And the king H4428 spake H559 (QalImpf) unto Ashpenaz H828 the master H7227 of his eunuchs, H5631 that he should bring H935 (HiphInf) [certain] of the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 and of the king’s H4410 seed, H2233 and of the princes; H6579

και ειπεν ο βασιλευς τω ασφανεζ τω αρχιευνουχω αυτου εισαγαγειν απο των υιων της αιχμαλωσιας ισραηλ και απο του σπερματος της βασιλειας και απο των φορθομμιν

The prince of the eunuchs gave names to them: to Daniel he gave the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.

Unto whom the prince H8269 of the eunuchs H5631 gave H7760 (QalImpf) names: H8034 for he gave H7760 (QalImpf) unto Daniel H1840 [the name] of Belteshazzar; H1095 and to Hananiah, H2608 of Shadrach; H7714 and to Mishael, H4332 of Meshach; H4335 and to Azariah, H5838 of Abednego. H5664

και επεθηκεν αυτοις ο αρχιευνουχος ονοματα τω δανιηλ βαλτασαρ και τω ανανια σεδραχ και τω μισαηλ μισαχ και τω αζαρια αβδεναγω

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank. Therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

But Daniel H1840 purposed H7760 (QalImpf) in his heart H3820 that he would not defile H1351 (HithImpf) himself with the portion H6598 of the king’s H4428 meat, H6598 nor with the wine H3196 which he drank: H4960 therefore he requested H1245 (PielImpf) of the prince H8269 of the eunuchs H5631 that he might not defile H1351 (HithImpf) himself.

και εθετο δανιηλ επι την καρδιαν αυτου ως ου μη αλισγηθη εν τη τραπεζη του βασιλεως και εν τω οινω του ποτου αυτου και ηξιωσε τον αρχιευνουχον ως ου μη αλισγηθη

Now God made Daniel find kindness and compassion in the sight of the prince of the eunuchs.

Now God H430 had brought H5414 (QalImpf) Daniel H1840 into favour H2617 and tender love H7356 with H6440 the prince H8269 of the eunuchs. H5631

και εδωκεν ο θεος τον δανιηλ εις ελεον και εις οικτιρμον ενωπιον του αρχιευνουχου

The prince of the eunuchs said to Daniel, “I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your food and your drink. For why should he see your faces worse looking than the youths who are of your own age? Then you would endanger my head with the king.”

And the prince H8269 of the eunuchs H5631 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Daniel, H1840 I fear H3373 my lord H113 the king, H4428 who hath appointed H4487 (PielPerf) your meat H3978 and your drink: H4960 for why should he see H7200 (QalImpf) your faces H6440 worse liking H2196 (QalActPtc) than the children H3206 which [are] of your sort? H1524 then shall ye make [me] endanger H2325 (PielPerf) my head H7218 to the king. H4428

και ειπεν ο αρχιευνουχος τω δανιηλ φοβουμαι εγω τον κυριον μου τον βασιλεα τον εκταξαντα την βρωσιν υμων και την ποσιν υμων μηποτε ιδη τα προσωπα υμων σκυθρωπα παρα τα παιδαρια τα συνηλικα υμων και καταδικασητε την κεφαλην μου τω βασιλει

Then Daniel said to the steward whom the prince of the eunuchs had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:

Then said H559 (QalImpf) Daniel H1840 to Melzar, H4453 whom the prince H8269 of the eunuchs H5631 had set H4487 (PielPerf) over Daniel, H1840 Hananiah, H2608 Mishael, H4332 and Azariah, H5838

και ειπεν δανιηλ προς αμελσαδ ον κατεστησεν οαρχιευνουχος επι δανιηλ ανανιαν μισαηλ αζαριαν

At the end of the days which the king had appointed for bringing them in, the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.

Now at the end H7117 of the days H3117 that the king H4428 had said H559 (QalPerf) he should bring H935 (HiphInf) them in, then the prince H8269 of the eunuchs H5631 brought H935 (HiphImpf) them in before H6440 Nebuchadnezzar. H5019

και μετα το τελος των ημερων ων ειπεν ο βασιλευς εισαγαγειν αυτους και εισηγαγεν αυτους ο αρχιευνουχος εναντιον ναβουχοδονοσορ
