[1] They came to the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. [2] When he had come out of the boat, immediately a man with an unclean spirit met him out of the tombs. [3] He lived in the tombs. Nobody could bind him any more, not even with chains, [4] because he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been torn apart by him, and the fetters broken in pieces. Nobody had the strength to tame him. [5] Always, night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying out, and cutting himself with stones. [6] When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and bowed down to him, [7] and crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What have I to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, don’t torment me.” [8] For he said to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” [9] He asked him, “What is your name?”He said to him, “My name is Legion, for we are many.” [10] He begged him much that he would not send them away out of the country. [11] Now on the mountainside there was a great herd of pigs feeding. [12] All the demons begged him, saying, “Send us into the pigs, that we may enter into them.” [13] At once Jesus gave them permission. The unclean spirits came out and entered into the pigs. The herd of about two thousand rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and they were drowned in the sea. [14] Those who fed the pigs fled, and told it in the city and in the country. The people came to see what it was that had happened. [15] They came to Jesus, and saw him who had been possessed by demons sitting, clothed, and in his right mind, even him who had the legion; and they were afraid. [16] Those who saw it declared to them what happened to him who was possessed by demons, and about the pigs. [17] They began to beg him to depart from their region. [18] As he was entering into the boat, he who had been possessed by demons begged him that he might be with him. [19] He didn’t allow him, but said to him, “Go to your house, to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you and how he had mercy on you.” [20] He went his way, and began to proclaim in Decapolis how Jesus had done great things for him, and everyone marveled. [21] When Jesus had crossed back over in the boat to the other side, a great multitude was gathered to him; and he was by the sea. [22] Behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, came; and seeing him, he fell at his feet [23] and begged him much, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death. Please come and lay your hands on her, that she may be made healthy, and live.” [24] He went with him, and a great multitude followed him, and they pressed upon him on all sides. [25] A certain woman who had a discharge of blood for twelve years, [26] and had suffered many things by many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better, but rather grew worse, [27] having heard the things concerning Jesus, came up behind him in the crowd and touched his clothes. [28] For she said, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be made well.” [29] Immediately the flow of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction. [30] Immediately Jesus, perceiving in himself that the power had gone out from him, turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?” [31] His disciples said to him, “You see the multitude pressing against you, and you say, ‘Who touched me?’ ” [32] He looked around to see her who had done this thing. [33] But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had been done to her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. [34] He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be cured of your disease.” [35] While he was still speaking, people came from the synagogue ruler’s house, saying, “Your daughter is dead. Why bother the Teacher any more?” [36] But Jesus, when he heard the message spoken, immediately said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Don’t be afraid, only believe.” [37] He allowed no one to follow him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James. [38] He came to the synagogue ruler’s house, and he saw an uproar, weeping, and great wailing. [39] When he had entered in, he said to them, “Why do you make an uproar and weep? The child is not dead, but is asleep.” [40] They ridiculed him. But he, having put them all out, took the father of the child, her mother, and those who were with him, and went in where the child was lying. [41] Taking the child by the hand, he said to her, “Talitha cumi!” which means, being interpreted, “Girl, I tell you, get up!” [42] Immediately the girl rose up and walked, for she was twelve years old. They were amazed with great amazement. [43] He strictly ordered them that no one should know this, and commanded that something should be given to her to eat.

boundG1210(PerfPasInf) with fettersG3976 andG2532 chains,G254 andG2532 the chainsG254 had been plucked asunderG1288(PerfPasInf) byG5259 him,G846 andG2532 the fettersG3976 broken in pieces:G4937(PerfPasInf) neitherG2532 couldG2480(ImpfActInd) any [man] tameG1150(AorActInf) him.G846 [5] AndG2532 always,G1275 nightG3571 andG2532 day,G2250 he wasG2258(ImpfInd) inG1722 the mountains,G3735 andG2532 inG1722 the tombs,G3418 crying,G2896(PresActPtc) andG2532 cuttingG2629(PresActPtc) himselfG1438 with stones.G3037 [6] ButG1161 when he sawG1492(Aor2ActPtc) JesusG2424 afar off,G575 he ranG5143(Aor2ActInd) andG2532 worshippedG4352(AorActInd) him,G846 [7] AndG2532 criedG2896(AorActPtc) with a loudG3173 voice,G5456 and said,G2036(Aor2ActInd) WhatG5101 have IG1698 to doG2532 with thee,G4671 Jesus,G2424 [thou] SonG5207 of the most highG5310 God?G2316 I adjureG3726(PresActInd) theeG4571 by God,G2316 that thou tormentG928(AorActSubj) meG3165 not.G3361 [8] ForG1063 he saidG3004(ImpfActInd) unto him,G846 ComeG1831(Aor2ActImpr) out ofG1537 the man,G444 [thou] uncleanG169 spirit.G4151 [9] AndG2532 he askedG1905(ImpfActInd) him,G846 WhatG5101 [is] thyG4671 name?G3686 AndG2532 he answered,G611(AorMidDepInd) saying,G3004(PresActPtc) MyG3427 nameG3686 [is] Legion:G3003 forG3754 we areG2070(PresInd) many.G4183 [10] AndG2532 he besoughtG3870(ImpfActInd) himG846 muchG4183 thatG3363 he wouldG649 notG3363 sendG649 themG846 awayG649(AorActSubj) out ofG1854 the country.G5561 [11] NowG1161 there wasG2258(ImpfInd) thereG1563 nighG4314 unto the mountainsG3735 a greatG3173 herdG34 of swineG5519 feeding.G1006(PresPasPtc) [12] AndG2532 allG3956 the devilsG1142 besoughtG3870(AorActInd) him,G846 saying,G3004(PresActPtc) SendG3992(AorActImpr) usG2248 intoG1519 the swine,G5519 thatG2443 we may enterG1525(Aor2ActSubj) intoG1519 them.G846 [13] AndG2532 forthwithG2112 JesusG2424 gaveG2010 themG846 leave.G2010(AorActInd) AndG2532 the uncleanG169 spiritsG4151 went out,G1831(Aor2ActPtc) and enteredG1525(Aor2ActInd) intoG1519 the swine:G5519 andG2532 the herdG34 ranG3729(AorActInd) violently downG2596 a steep placeG2911 intoG1519 the sea,G2281 (they wereG2258(ImpfInd) aboutG5613 two thousand;G1367) andG2532 were chokedG4155(ImpfPasInd) inG1722 the sea.G2281 [14] AndG1161 they that fedG1006(PresActPtc) the swineG5519 fled,G5343(Aor2ActInd) andG2532 toldG312(AorActInd) [it] inG1519 the city,G4172 andG2532 inG1519 the country.G68 AndG2532 they went outG1831(Aor2ActInd) to seeG1492(Aor2ActInf) whatG5101 it wasG2076(PresInd) that was done.G1096(Perf2ActPtc) [15] AndG2532 they comeG2064(PresMidPasDepInd) toG4314 Jesus,G2424 andG2532 seeG2334(PresActInd) him that was possessed with the devil,G1139(PresMidPasDepPtc) and hadG2192(PerfActPtc) the legion,G3003 sitting,G2521(PresMidPasDepPtc) andG2532 clothed,G2439(PerfPasPtc) andG2532 in his right mind:G4993(PresActPtc) andG2532 they were afraid.G5399(AorPasDepInd) [16] AndG2532 they that sawG1492(Aor2ActPtc) [it] toldG1334(AorMidDepInd) themG846 howG4459 it befellG1096(Aor2MidDepInd) to him that was possessed with the devil,G1139(PresMidPasDepPtc) andG2532 [also] concerningG4012 the swine.G5519 [17] AndG2532 they beganG756(AorMidDepInd) to prayG3870(PresActInf) himG846 to departG565(Aor2ActInf) out ofG575 theirG846 coasts.G3725 [18] AndG2532 when heG846 was comeG1684(Aor2ActPtc) intoG1519 the ship,G4143 he that had been possessed with the devilG1139(AorPasDepPtc) prayedG3870(ImpfActInd) himG846 thatG2443 he might beG5600(PresSubj) withG3326 him.G846 [19] HowbeitG1161 JesusG2424 sufferedG863(AorActInd) himG846 not,G3756 butG235 saithG3004(PresActInd) unto him,G846 GoG5217(PresActImpr) homeG1519 toG4314 thy friends,G4674 andG2532 tellG312(AorActImpr) themG846 how great thingsG3745 the LordG2962 hath doneG4160(AorActInd) for thee,G4671 andG2532 hath had compassionG1653(AorActInd) on thee.G4571 [20] AndG2532 he departed,G565(Aor2ActInd) andG2532 beganG756(AorMidDepInd) to publishG2784(PresActInf) inG1722 DecapolisG1179 how great thingsG3745 JesusG2424 had doneG4160(AorActInd) for him:G846 andG2532 allG3956 [men] did marvel.G2296(ImpfActInd) [21] AndG2532 when JesusG2424 was passed overG1276(AorActPtc) againG3825 byG1722 shipG4143 untoG1519 the other side,G4008 muchG4183 peopleG3793 gatheredG4863(AorPasInd) untoG1909 him:G846 andG2532 he wasG2258(ImpfInd) nighG3844 unto the sea.G2281 [22] And,G2532 behold,G2400(Aor2ActImpr) there comethG2064(PresMidPasDepInd) oneG1520 of the rulers of the synagogue,G752 JairusG2383 by name;G3686 andG2532 when he sawG1492(Aor2ActPtc) him,G846 he fellG4098(PresActInd) atG4314 hisG846 feet,G4228 [23] AndG2532 besoughtG3870(ImpfActInd) himG846 greatly,G4183 saying,G3004(PresActPtc) MyG3450 little daughterG2365 liethG2079 at the point of death:G2192(PresActInd) [I pray thee], comeG2064(Aor2ActPtc) andG2443 layG2007(Aor2ActSubj) thy handsG5495 on her,G846 thatG3704 she may be healed;G4982(AorPasSubj) andG2532 she shall live.G2198(FutMidDepInd) [24] AndG2532 [Jesus] wentG565(Aor2ActInd) withG3326 him;G846 andG2532 muchG4183 peopleG3793 followedG190(ImpfActInd) him,G846 andG2532 throngedG4918(ImpfActInd) him.G846 [25] AndG2532 a certainG5100 woman,G1135 which had anG1722 issueG4511 of bloodG129 twelveG1427 years,G2094 [26] AndG2532 had sufferedG3958(Aor2ActPtc) many thingsG4183 ofG5259 manyG4183 physicians,G2395 andG2532 had spentG1159(AorActPtc) allG3956 that sheG1438 had,G3844 andG2532 wasG5623 nothingG3367 bettered,G5623(AorPasPtc) butG235 ratherG3123 grewG2064(Aor2ActPtc) worse,G1519 [27] When she had heardG191(AorActPtc) ofG4012 Jesus,G2424 cameG2064(Aor2ActPtc) inG1722 the pressG3793 behind,G3693 and touchedG680(AorMidDepInd) hisG846 garment.G2440 [28] ForG1063 she said,G3004(ImpfActInd) IfG3754 I may touchG680(AorMidSubj) butG2579 hisG846 clothes,G2440 I shall be whole.G4982(FutPasInd) [29] AndG2532 straightwayG2112 the fountainG4077 of herG846 bloodG129 was dried up;G3583(AorPasInd) andG2532 she feltG1097(Aor2ActInd) in [her] bodyG4983 thatG3754 she was healedG2390(PerfPasInd) ofG575 that plague.G3148 [30] AndG2532 Jesus,G2424 immediatelyG2112 knowingG1921(Aor2ActPtc) inG1722 himselfG1438 that virtueG1411 had goneG1831(Aor2ActPtc) out ofG1537 him,G846 turned him aboutG1994(Aor2PasPtc) inG1722 the press,G3793 and said,G3004(ImpfActInd) WhoG5101 touchedG680(AorMidDepInd) myG3450 clothes?G2440 [31] AndG2532 hisG846 disciplesG3101 saidG3004(ImpfActInd) unto him,G846 Thou seestG991(PresActInd) the multitudeG3793 throngingG4918(PresActPtc) thee,G4571 andG2532 sayest thou,G3004(PresActInd) WhoG5101 touchedG680(AorMidDepInd) me?G3450 [32] AndG2532 he looked round aboutG4017(ImpfMidInd) to seeG1492(Aor2ActInf) her that had doneG4160(AorActPtc) this thing.G5124 [33] ButG1161 the womanG1135 fearingG5399(AorPasDepPtc) andG2532 trembling,G5141(PresActPtc) knowingG1492(PerfActPtc) whatG3739 was doneG1096(Perf2ActInd) inG1909 her,G846 cameG2064(Aor2ActInd) andG2532 fell down beforeG4363(Aor2ActInd) him,G846 andG2532 toldG2036(Aor2ActInd) himG846 allG3956 the truth.G225 [34] AndG1161 he saidG2036(Aor2ActInd) unto her,G846 Daughter,G2364 thyG4675 faithG4102 hath madeG4982 theeG4571 whole;G4982(PerfActInd) goG5217(PresActImpr) inG1519 peace,G1515 andG2532 beG2468(PresImpr) wholeG5199 ofG575 thyG4675 plague.G3148 [35] WhileG2089 heG846 yetG2089 spake,G2980(PresActPtc) there cameG2064(PresMidPasDepInd) fromG575 the ruler of the synagogue’sG752 [house certain] which said,G3004(PresActPtc) ThyG4675 daughterG2364 is dead:G599(Aor2ActInd) whyG5101 troublest thouG4660(PresActInd) the MasterG1320 any further?G2089 [36] As soon asG1161 JesusG2424 heardG191(AorActPtc) the wordG3056 that was spoken,G2980(PresPasPtc) he saithG3004(PresActInd) unto the ruler of the synagogue,G752 BeG5399 notG3361 afraid,G5399(PresMidPasDepImpr) onlyG3440 believe.G4100(PresActImpr) [37] AndG2532 he sufferedG863(AorActInd) no manG3762 to followG4870(AorActInf) him,G846 saveG1508 Peter,G4074 andG2532 James,G2385 andG2532 JohnG2491 the brotherG80 of James.G2385 [38] AndG2532 he comethG2064(PresMidPasDepInd) toG1519 the houseG3624 of the ruler of the synagogue,G752 andG2532 seethG2334(PresActInd) the tumult,G2351 and them that weptG2799(PresActPtc) andG2532 wailedG214(PresActPtc) greatly.G4183 [39] AndG2532 when he was come in,G1525(Aor2ActPtc) he saithG3004(PresActInd) unto them,G846 WhyG5101 make ye this ado,G2350(PresPasInd) andG2532 weep?G2799(PresActInd) the damselG3813 isG599 notG3756 dead,G599(Aor2ActInd) butG235 sleepeth.G2518(PresActInd) [40] AndG2532 they laughedG2606 himG846 to scorn.G2606(ImpfActInd) ButG1161 when he had putG1544 them allG537 out,G1544(Aor2ActPtc) he takethG3880(PresActInd) the fatherG3962 andG2532 the motherG3384 of the damsel,G3813 andG2532 them that were withG3326 him,G846 andG2532 entereth inG1531(PresMidPasDepInd) whereG3699 the damselG3813 wasG2258(ImpfInd) lying.G345(PresMidPasDepPtc) [41] AndG2532 he tookG2902(AorActPtc) the damselG3813 by the hand,G5495 and saidG3004(PresActInd) unto her,G846 TalithaG5008 cumi;G2891 whichG3739 is,G2076(PresInd) being interpreted,G3177(PresPasPtc) Damsel,G2877 I sayG3004(PresActInd) unto thee,G4671 arise.G1453(AorMidImpr) [42] AndG2532 straightwayG2112 the damselG2877 arose,G450(Aor2ActInd) andG2532 walked;G4043(ImpfActInd) forG1063 she wasG2258(ImpfInd) [of the age] of twelveG1427 years.G2094 AndG2532 they were astonishedG1839(Aor2ActInd) with a greatG3173 astonishment.G1611 [43] AndG2532 he chargedG1291(AorMidInd) themG846 straitlyG4183 thatG2443 no manG3367 should knowG1097(Aor2ActSubj) it;G5124 andG2532 commandedG2036(Aor2ActInd) that something should be givenG1325(AorPasInf) herG846 to eat.G5315(Aor2ActInf)
