Yahweh^§ spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying,

As Yahweh commanded Moses, so he counted them in the wilderness of Sinai.

εναρχομενου τη τεσσαρεσκαιδεκατη ημερα του μηνος εν τη ερημω του σινα καθα συνεταξεν κυριος τω μωυση ουτως εποιησαν οι υιοι ισραηλ

The children of Israel went forward on their journeys out of the wilderness of Sinai; and the cloud stayed in the wilderness of Paran.

Moses said, “Don’t leave us, please; because you know how we are to encamp in the wilderness, and you can be our eyes.

και ειπεν μη εγκαταλιπης ημας ου εινεκεν ησθα μεθ ημων εν τη ερημω και εση εν ημιν πρεσβυτης

Afterward the people traveled from Hazeroth, and encamped in the wilderness of Paran.

And afterward H310 the people H5971 removed H5265 (QalPerf) from Hazeroth, H2698 and pitched H2583 (QalImpf) in the wilderness H4057 of Paran. H6290

και μετα ταυτα εξηρεν ο λαος εξ ασηρωθ και παρενεβαλον εν τη ερημω του φαραν

Moses sent them from the wilderness of Paran according to the commandment of Yahweh. All of them were men who were heads of the children of Israel.

They went and came to Moses, to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, to the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word to them and to all the congregation. They showed them the fruit of the land.

και πορευθεντες ηλθον προς μωυσην και ααρων και προς πασαν συναγωγην υιων ισραηλ εις την ερημον φαραν καδης και απεκριθησαν αυτοις ρημα και παση τη συναγωγη και εδειξαν τον καρπον της γης

All the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron. The whole congregation said to them, “We wish that we had died in the land of Egypt, or that we had died in this wilderness!

And all the children H1121 of Israel H3478 murmured H3885 (NiphImpf) against Moses H4872 and against Aaron: H175 and the whole congregation H5712 said H559 (QalImpf) unto them, Would God H3863 that we had died H4191 (QalPerf) in the land H776 of Egypt! και διεγογγυζον επι μωυσην και ααρων παντες οι υιοι ισραηλ και ειπαν προς αυτους πασα η συναγωγη οφελον απεθανομεν εν γη αιγυπτω η εν τη ερημω ταυτη ει απεθανομεν

‘Because Yahweh was not able to bring this people into the land which he swore to them, therefore he has slain them in the wilderness.’

Because the Lord H3068 was not H1115 able H3201 (QalInf) to bring H935 (HiphInf) this people H5971 into the land H776 which he sware H7650 (NiphPerf) unto them, therefore he hath slain H7819 (QalImpf) them in the wilderness. H4057
