The first of all the first fruits of every thing, and every offering of everything, of all your offerings, shall be for the priest. You shall also give to the priests the first of your dough, to cause a blessing to rest on your house.

It is a holy portion of the land; it shall be for the priests, the ministers of the sanctuary, who come near to minister to Yahweh. It shall be a place for their houses and a holy place for the sanctuary.

In the land it shall be to him for a possession in Israel. My princes shall no more oppress my people, but they shall give the land to the house of Israel according to their tribes.”

The priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering and put it on the door posts of the house, and on the four corners of the ledge of the altar, and on the posts of the gate of the inner court.

και ουτως ποιησεις εν τω εβδομω μηνι μια του μηνος λημψη παρ εκαστου απομοιραν και εξιλασεσθε τον οικον

Then he said to me, “These are the boiling houses, where the ministers of the house shall boil the sacrifice of the people.”

“The remainder shall be for the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy offering and of the possession of the city; in front of the twenty-five thousand of the offering toward the east border, and westward in front of the twenty-five thousand toward the west border, alongside the portions, it shall be for the prince. The holy offering and the sanctuary of the house shall be in the middle of it.

το δε περισσον τω αφηγουμενω εκ τουτου και εκ τουτου απο των απαρχων του αγιου και εις την κατασχεσιν της πολεως επι πεντε και εικοσι χιλιαδας μηκος εως των οριων των προς ανατολας και προς θαλασσαν επι πεντε και εικοσι χιλιαδας εως των οριων των προς θαλασσαν εχομενα των μεριδων του αφηγουμενου και εσται η απαρχη των αγιων και το αγιασμα του οικου εν μεσω αυτης

The Lord^§ gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with some of the vessels of the house of God;^§ and he carried them into the land of Shinar to the house of his god. He brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.

Hosea 1:6 Lo-Ruhamah means “not loved”.

Therefore I am to Ephraim like a moth, and to the house of Judah like rottenness.

For I will be to Ephraim like a lion, and like a young lion to the house of Judah. I myself will tear in pieces and go away. I will carry off, and there will be no one to deliver.

In the house of Israel I have seen a horrible thing. There is prostitution in Ephraim. Israel is defiled.

εν τω οικω ισραηλ ειδον φρικωδη εκει πορνειαν του εφραιμ εμιανθη ισραηλ και ιουδα

“Put the trumpet to your lips! Something like an eagle is over Yahweh’s house, because they have broken my covenant and rebelled against my law.

[Set] the trumpet H7782 to thy mouth. H2441 [He shall come] as an eagle H5404 against the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 because they have transgressed H5674 (QalPerf) my covenant, H1285 and trespassed H6586 (QalPerf) against my law. H8451

They won’t pour out wine offerings to Yahweh, neither will they be pleasing to him. Their sacrifices will be to them like the bread of mourners; all who eat of it will be polluted; for their bread will be for their appetite. It will not come into Yahweh’s house.

A prophet watches over Ephraim with my God. A fowler’s snare is on all of his paths, and hostility in the house of his God.

“All their wickedness is in Gilgal; for there I hated them. Because of the wickedness of their deeds, I will drive them out of my house! I will love them no more. All their princes are rebels.

πασαι αι κακιαι αυτων εις γαλγαλ οτι εκει αυτους εμισησα δια τας κακιας των επιτηδευματων αυτων εκ του οικου μου εκβαλω αυτους ου μη προσθησω του αγαπησαι αυτους παντες οι αρχοντες αυτων απειθουντες

They will come trembling like a bird out of Egypt, and like a dove out of the land of Assyria; and I will settle them in their houses,” says Yahweh.

Ephraim surrounds me with falsehood, and the house of Israel with deceit. Judah still strays from God, and is unfaithful to the Holy One.

The meal offering and the drink offering are cut off from Yahweh’s house. The priests, Yahweh’s ministers, mourn.

εξηρται θυσια και σπονδη εξ οικου κυριου πενθειτε οι ιερεις οι λειτουργουντες θυσιαστηριω

Put on sackcloth and mourn, you priests! Wail, you ministers of the altar. Come, lie all night in sackcloth, you ministers of my God,^§ for the meal offering and the drink offering are withheld from your God’s house.

περιζωσασθε και κοπτεσθε οι ιερεις θρηνειτε οι λειτουργουντες θυσιαστηριω εισελθατε υπνωσατε εν σακκοις λειτουργουντες θεω οτι απεσχηκεν εξ οικου θεου υμων θυσια και σπονδη

Sanctify a fast. Call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of Yahweh, your God, and cry to Yahweh.

Isn’t the food cut off before our eyes, joy and gladness from the house of our God?

κατεναντι των οφθαλμων υμων βρωματα εξωλεθρευθη εξ οικου θεου υμων ευφροσυνη και χαρα

They rush on the city. They run on the wall. They climb up into the houses. They enter in at the windows like thieves.

και συντριψω μοχλους δαμασκου και εξολεθρευσω κατοικουντας εκ πεδιου ων και κατακοψω φυλην εξ ανδρων χαρραν και αιχμαλωτευθησεται λαος συριας επικλητος λεγει κυριος

They lay themselves down beside every altar on clothes taken in pledge. In the house of their God^§ they drink the wine of those who have been fined.

Seek Yahweh, and you will live, lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and it devour, and there be no one to quench it in Bethel.

εκζητησατε τον κυριον και ζησατε οπως μη αναλαμψη ως πυρ ο οικος ιωσηφ και καταφαγεται αυτον και ουκ εσται ο σβεσων τω οικω ισραηλ

Therefore, because you trample on the poor and take taxes from him of wheat, you have built houses of cut stone, but you will not dwell in them. You have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink their wine.

δια τουτο ανθ ων κατεκονδυλιζετε πτωχους και δωρα εκλεκτα εδεξασθε παρ αυτων οικους ξυστους ωκοδομησατε και ου μη κατοικησητε εν αυτοις αμπελωνας επιθυμητους εφυτευσατε και ου μη πιητε τον οινον εξ αυτων

As if a man fled from a lion, and a bear met him; or he went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a snake bit him.

Woe to those who are at ease in Zion, and to those who are secure on the mountain of Samaria, the notable men of the chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel come!

ουαι τοις εξουθενουσιν σιων και τοις πεποιθοσιν επι το ορος σαμαρειας απετρυγησαν αρχας εθνων και εισηλθον αυτοι οικος του ισραηλ

It will happen that if ten men remain in one house, they will die.
