[1] As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth. [2] His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” [3] Jesus answered, “This man didn’t sin, nor did his parents, but that the works of God might be revealed in him. [4] I must work the works of him who sent me while it is day. The night is coming, when no one can work. [5] While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” [6] When he had said this, he spat on the ground, made mud with the saliva, anointed the blind man’s eyes with the mud, [7] and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means “Sent”). So he went away, washed, and came back seeing. [8] Therefore the neighbors and those who saw that he was blind before said, “Isn’t this he who sat and begged?” [9] Others were saying, “It is he.” Still others were saying, “He looks like him.”He said, “I am he.” [10] They therefore were asking him, “How were your eyes opened?” [11] He answered, “A man called Jesus made mud, anointed my eyes, and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went away and washed, and I received sight.” [12] Then they asked him, “Where is he?”He said, “I don’t know.” [13] They brought him who had been blind to the Pharisees. [14] It was a Sabbath when Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes. [15] Again therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he received his sight. He said to them, “He put mud on my eyes, I washed, and I see.” [16] Some therefore of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, because he doesn’t keep the Sabbath.”Others said, “How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” So there was division among them. [17] Therefore they asked the blind man again, “What do you say about him, because he opened your eyes?”He said, “He is a prophet.” [18] The Jews therefore didn’t believe concerning him, that he had been blind and had received his sight, until they called the parents of him who had received his sight, [19] and asked them, “Is this your son, whom you say was born blind? How then does he now see?” [20] His parents answered them, “We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind; [21] but how he now sees, we don’t know; or who opened his eyes, we don’t know. He is of age. Ask him. He will speak for himself.” [22] His parents said these things because they feared the Jews; for the Jews had already agreed that if any man would confess him as Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue. [23] Therefore his parents said, “He is of age. Ask him.” [24] So they called the man who was blind a second time, and said to him, “Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner.” [25] He therefore answered, “I don’t know if he is a sinner. One thing I do know: that though I was blind, now I see.” [26] They said to him again, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?” [27] He answered them, “I told you already, and you didn’t listen. Why do you want to hear it again? You don’t also want to become his disciples, do you?” [28] They insulted him and said, “You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses. [29] We know that God has spoken to Moses. But as for this man, we don’t know where he comes from.” [30] The man answered them, “How amazing! You don’t know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes. [31] We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, he listens to him.† [32] Since the world began it has never been heard of that anyone opened the eyes of someone born blind. [33] If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.” [34] They answered him, “You were altogether born in sins, and do you teach us?” Then they threw him out. [35] Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and finding him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of God?” [36] He answered, “Who is he, Lord, that I may believe in him?” [37] Jesus said to him, “You have both seen him, and it is he who speaks with you.” [38] He said, “Lord, I believe!” and he worshiped him. [39] Jesus said, “I came into this world for judgment, that those who don’t see may see; and that those who see may become blind.” [40] Those of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things, and said to him, “Are we also blind?” [41] Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.

King James Version
[1] AndG2532 as [Jesus] passed by,G3855(PresActPtc) he sawG1492(Aor2ActInd) a manG444 which was blindG5185 fromG1537 [his] birth.G1079 [2] AndG2532 hisG846 disciplesG3101 askedG2065(AorActInd) him,G846 saying,G3004(PresActPtc) Master,G4461 whoG5101 did sin,G264(Aor2ActInd) this man,G3778 orG2228 hisG846 parents,G1118 thatG2443 he was bornG1080(AorPasSubj) blind?G5185 [3] JesusG2424 answered,G611(AorMidDepInd) NeitherG3777 hathG264 this manG3778 sinned,G264(Aor2ActInd) norG3777 hisG846 parents:G1118 butG235 thatG2443 the worksG2041 of GodG2316 should be made manifestG5319(AorPasSubj) inG1722 him.G846 [4] IG1691 mustG1163(PresInd) workG2038(PresMidPasDepInf) the worksG2041 of him that sentG3992(AorActPtc) me,G3165 whileG2193 it isG2076(PresInd) day:G2250 the nightG3571 cometh,G2064(PresMidPasDepInd) whenG3753 no manG3762 canG1410(PresMidPasDepInd) work.G2038(PresMidPasDepInf) [5] As long asG3752 I amG5600(PresSubj) inG1722 the world,G2889 I amG1510(PresInd) the lightG5457 of the world.G2889 [6] When he had thusG5023 spoken,G2036(Aor2ActPtc) he spatG4429(AorActInd) on the ground,G5476 andG2532 madeG4160(AorActInd) clayG4081 ofG1537 the spittle,G4427 andG2532 he anointedG2025(AorActInd) the eyesG3788 of the blind manG5185 with the clay,G4081 [7] AndG2532 saidG2036(Aor2ActInd) unto him,G846 Go,G5217(PresActImpr) washG3538(AorMidImpr) inG1519 the poolG2861 of Siloam,G4611 (whichG3739 is by interpretation,G2059(PresPasInd) Sent.G649(PerfPasPtc)) He went his wayG565(Aor2ActInd) therefore,G3767 andG2532 washed,G3538(AorMidInd) andG2532 cameG2064(Aor2ActInd) seeing.G991(PresActPtc) [8] The neighboursG1069 therefore,G3767 andG2532 they which beforeG4386 had seenG2334(PresActPtc) himG846 thatG3754 he wasG2258(ImpfInd) blind,G5185 said,G3004(ImpfActInd) IsG2076(PresInd) notG3756 thisG3778 he that satG2521(PresMidPasDepPtc) andG2532 begged?G4319(PresActPtc) [9] SomeG243 said,G3004(ImpfActInd) ThisG3778 is he:G2076(PresInd) othersG243 [said],G3754 He isG2076(PresInd) likeG3664 him:G846 [but] heG1565 said,G3004(ImpfActInd) IG1473 amG1510(PresInd) [he]. [10] ThereforeG3767 said theyG3004(ImpfActInd) unto him,G846 HowG4459 wereG455 thineG4675 eyesG3788 opened?G455(AorPasInd) [11] HeG1565 answeredG611(AorMidDepInd) andG2532 said,G2036(Aor2ActInd) A manG444 that is calledG3004(PresPasPtc) JesusG2424 madeG4160(AorActInd) clay,G4081 andG2532 anointedG2025(AorActInd) mineG3450 eyes,G3788 andG2532 saidG2036(Aor2ActInd) unto me,G3427 GoG5217(PresActImpr) toG1519 the poolG2861 of Siloam,G4611 andG2532 wash:G3538(AorMidImpr) andG1161 I wentG565(Aor2ActPtc) andG2532 washed,G3538(AorMidPtc) and I received sight.G308(AorActInd) [12] ThenG3767 said theyG2036(Aor2ActInd) unto him,G846 WhereG4226 isG2076(PresInd) he?G1565 He said,G3004(PresActInd) I knowG1492(PerfActInd) not.G3756 [13] They broughtG71(PresActInd) toG4314 the PhariseesG5330 himG846 that aforetimeG4218 was blind.G5185 [14] AndG1161 it wasG2258(ImpfInd) the sabbath dayG4521 whenG3753 JesusG2424 madeG4160(AorActInd) the clay,G4081 andG2532 openedG455(AorActInd) hisG846 eyes.G3788 [15] ThenG3767 againG3825 the PhariseesG5330 alsoG2532 askedG2065(ImpfActInd) himG846 howG4459 he had received his sight.G308(AorActInd) He saidG2036(Aor2ActInd) unto them,G846 He putG2007(AorActInd) clayG4081 uponG1909 mineG3450 eyes,G3788 andG2532 I washed,G3538(AorMidInd) andG2532 do see.G991(PresActInd) [16] ThereforeG3767 saidG3004(ImpfActInd) someG5100 ofG1537 the Pharisees,G5330 ThisG3778 manG444 isG2076(PresInd) notG3756 ofG3844 God,G2316 becauseG3754 he keepethG5083(PresActInd) notG3756 the sabbath day.G4521 OthersG243 said,G3004(ImpfActInd) HowG4459 canG1410(PresMidPasDepInd) a manG444 that is a sinnerG268 doG4160(PresActInf) suchG5108 miracles?G4592 AndG2532 there wasG2258(ImpfInd) a divisionG4978 amongG1722 them.G846 [17] They sayG3004(PresActInd) unto the blind manG5185 again,G3825 WhatG5101 sayestG3004(PresActInd) thouG4771 ofG4012 him,G846 thatG3754 he hath openedG455(AorActInd) thineG4675 eyes?G3788 He said,G2036(Aor2ActInd) He isG2076(PresInd) a prophet.G4396 [18] ButG3767 the JewsG2453 didG4100 notG3756 believeG4100(AorActInd) concerningG4012 him,G846 thatG3754 he had beenG2258(ImpfInd) blind,G5185 andG2532 received his sight,G308(AorActInd) untilG2193 they calledG5455(AorActInd) the parentsG1118 of himG846 that had received his sight.G308(AorActPtc) [19] AndG2532 they askedG2065(AorActInd) them,G846 saying,G3004(PresActPtc) IsG2076(PresInd) thisG3778 yourG5216 son,G5207 whoG3739 yeG5210 sayG3004(PresActInd) was bornG1080(AorPasInd) blind?G5185 howG4459 thenG3767 doth heG991 nowG737 see?G991(PresActInd) [20] HisG846 parentsG1118 answeredG611(AorMidDepInd) themG846 andG2532 said,G2036(Aor2ActInd) We knowG1492(PerfActInd) thatG3754 thisG3778 isG2076(PresInd) ourG2257 son,G5207 andG2532 thatG3754 he was bornG1080(AorPasInd) blind:G5185 [21] ButG1161 by what meansG4459 heG991 nowG3568 seeth,G991(PresActInd) we knowG1492(PerfActInd) not;G3756 orG2228 whoG5101 hath openedG455(AorActInd) hisG846 eyes,G3788 weG2249 knowG1492(PerfActInd) not:G3756 heG846 isG2192(PresActInd) of age;G2244 askG2065(AorActImpr) him:G846 heG846 shall speakG2980(FutActInd) forG4012 himself.G848 [22] TheseG5023 [words] spakeG2036(Aor2ActInd) hisG846 parents,G1118 becauseG3754 they fearedG5399(ImpfMidPasDepInd) the Jews:G2453 forG1063 the JewsG2453 had agreedG4934(PlupfMidInd) already,G2235 thatG2443 ifG1437 any manG5100 did confessG3670(AorActSubj) that heG846 was Christ,G5547 he should beG1096(Aor2MidDepSubj) put out of the synagogue.G656 [23] ThereforeG1223 saidG2036(Aor2ActInd) hisG846 parents,G1118 He isG2192(PresActInd) of age;G2244 askG2065(AorActImpr) him.G846 [24] ThenG3767 againG1208 called theyG5455(AorActInd) the manG444 thatG3739 wasG2258(ImpfInd) blind,G5185 andG2532 saidG2036(Aor2ActInd) unto him,G846 GiveG1325(Aor2ActImpr) GodG2316 the praise:G1391 weG2249 knowG1492(PerfActInd) thatG3754 thisG3778 manG444 isG2076(PresInd) a sinner.G268 [25] HeG1565 answeredG611(AorMidDepInd) andG2532 said,G2036(Aor2ActInd) WhetherG1487 he beG2076(PresInd) a sinnerG268 [or no], I knowG1492(PerfActInd) not:G3756 one thingG1520 I know,G1492(PerfActInd) that,G3754 whereas I wasG5607(PresPtc) blind,G5185 nowG737 I see.G991(PresActInd) [26] ThenG1161 said theyG2036(Aor2ActInd) to himG846 again,G3825 WhatG5101 did heG4160(AorActInd) to thee?G4671 howG4459 opened heG455(AorActInd) thineG4675 eyes?G3788 [27] He answeredG611(AorMidDepInd) them,G846 I have toldG2036(Aor2ActInd) youG5213 already,G2235 andG2532 ye didG191 notG3756 hear:G191(AorActInd) whereforeG5101 wouldG2309(PresActInd) ye hearG191(PresActInf) [it] again?G3825 willG3361 yeG5210 alsoG2532 beG1096(Aor2MidDepInf) hisG846 disciples?G3101 [28] ThenG3767 they reviledG3058(AorActInd) him,G846 andG2532 said,G2036(Aor2ActInd) ThouG4771 artG1488(PresInd) hisG1565 disciple;G3101 butG1161 weG2249 areG2070(PresInd) Moses’G3475 disciples.G3101 [29] WeG2249 knowG1492(PerfActInd) thatG3754 GodG2316 spakeG2980(PerfActInd) unto Moses:G3475 [as for] thisG1161 [fellow], we knowG1492(PerfActInd) notG3756 from whenceG4159 he is.G2076(PresInd) [30] The manG444 answeredG611(AorMidDepInd) andG2532 saidG2036(Aor2ActInd) unto them,G846 WhyG1063 hereinG1722 isG2076(PresInd) a marvellous thing,G2298 thatG3754 yeG5210 knowG1492(PerfActInd) notG3756 from whenceG4159 he is,G2076(PresInd) andG2532 [yet] he hath openedG455(AorActInd) mineG3450 eyes.G3788 [31] NowG1161 we knowG1492(PerfActInd) thatG3754 GodG2316 hearethG191(PresActInd) notG3756 sinners:G268 butG235 ifG1437 any manG5100 beG5600(PresSubj) a worshipper of God,G2318 andG2532 doethG4160(PresActSubj) hisG846 will,G2307 himG5127 he heareth.G191(PresActInd) [32] SinceG1537 the world beganG165 was itG191 notG3756 heardG191(AorPasInd) thatG3754 any manG5100 openedG455(AorActInd) the eyesG3788 of one that was bornG1080(PerfPasPtc) blind.G5185 [33] IfG1508 this manG3778 wereG2258(ImpfInd) notG1508 ofG3844 God,G2316 he couldG1410(ImpfMidPasDepInd) doG4160(PresActInf) nothing.G3762 [34] They answeredG611(AorMidDepInd) andG2532 saidG2036(Aor2ActInd) unto him,G846 ThouG4771 wastG1080 altogetherG3650 bornG1080(AorPasInd) inG1722 sins,G266 andG2532 dost thouG4771 teachG1321(PresActInd) us?G2248 AndG2532 they castG1544(Aor2ActInd) himG846 out.G1854 [35] JesusG2424 heardG191(AorActInd) thatG3754 they had castG1544(Aor2ActInd) himG846 out;G1854 andG2532 when he had foundG2147(Aor2ActPtc) him,G846 he saidG2036(Aor2ActInd) unto him,G846 DostG4100 thouG4771 believeG4100(PresActInd) onG1519 the SonG5207 of God?G2316 [36] HeG1565 answeredG611(AorMidDepInd) andG2532 said,G2036(Aor2ActInd) WhoG5101 is he,G2076(PresInd) Lord,G2962 thatG2443 I might believeG4100(AorActSubj) onG1519 him?G846 [37] AndG1161 JesusG2424 saidG2036(Aor2ActInd) unto him,G846 Thou hastG3708 bothG2532 seenG3708(PerfActInd) him,G846 andG2532 it isG2076(PresInd) heG1565 that talkethG2980(PresActPtc) withG3326 thee.G4675 [38] AndG1161 he said,G5346(ImpfInd) Lord,G2962 I believe.G4100(PresActInd) AndG2532 he worshippedG4352(AorActInd) him.G846 [39] AndG2532 JesusG2424 said,G2036(Aor2ActInd) ForG1519 judgmentG2917 IG1473 am comeG2064(Aor2ActInd) intoG1519 thisG5126 world,G2889 thatG2443 they which seeG991(PresActPtc) notG3361 might see;G991(PresActSubj) andG2532 that they which seeG991(PresActPtc) might be madeG1096(Aor2MidDepSubj) blind.G5185 [40] AndG2532 [some] ofG1537 the PhariseesG5330 whichG3588 wereG5607(PresPtc) withG3326 himG846 heardG191(AorActInd) these words,G5023 andG2532 saidG2036(Aor2ActInd) unto him,G846 AreG3361 weG2249 blindG5185 also?G2532 [41] JesusG2424 saidG2036(Aor2ActInd) unto them,G846 IfG1487 ye wereG2258(ImpfInd) blind,G5185 ye shouldG302 haveG2192(ImpfActInd) noG3756 sin:G266 butG1161 nowG3568 ye say,G3004(PresActInd) We see;G991(PresActInd) thereforeG3767 yourG5216 sinG266 remaineth.G3306(PresActInd)
