and you have seen their abominations and their idols of wood, stone, silver, and gold, which were among them);

and ye see their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which are with them,

The generation to come—your children who will rise up after you, and the foreigner who will come from a far land—will say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses with which Yahweh has made it sick,

So that the generation H1755 to come H314 of your children H1121 that shall rise up H6965 (QalImpf) after H310 you, and the stranger H5237 that shall come H935 (QalImpf) from a far H7350 land, H776 shall say, H559 (QalPerf) when they see H7200 (QalPerf) the plagues H4347 of that land, H776 and the sicknesses H8463 which the Lord H3068 hath laid H2470 (PielPerf) upon it;

‘And the latter generation of your sons who rise after you, and the stranger who cometh in from a land afar off, have said when they have seen the strokes of that land, and its sicknesses which Jehovah hath sent into it,-

Behold, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and evil.

See, H7200 (QalImpv) I have set H5414 (QalPerf) before H6440 thee this day H3117 life H2416 and good, H2896 and death H4194 and evil; H7451

‘See, I have set before thee to-day life and good, and death and evil,

when all Israel has come to appear before Yahweh your God in the place which he will choose, you shall read this law before all Israel in their hearing.

When all Israel H3478 is come H935 (QalInf) to appear H7200 (NiphInf) before H6440 the Lord H3068 thy God H430 in the place H4725 which he shall choose, H977 (QalImpf) thou shalt read H7121 (QalImpf) this law H8451 before all Israel H3478 in their hearing. H241

in the coming in of all Israel to see the face of Jehovah in the place which He chooseth, thou dost proclaim this law before all Israel, in their ears.

Yahweh appeared in the Tent in a pillar of cloud, and the pillar of cloud stood over the Tent’s door.

And the Lord H3068 appeared H7200 (NiphImpf) in the tabernacle H168 in a pillar H5982 of a cloud: H6051 and the pillar H5982 of the cloud H6051 stood H5975 (QalImpf) over the door H6607 of the tabernacle. H168

and Jehovah is seen in the tent, in a pillar of a cloud; and the pillar of the cloud standeth at the opening of the tent.

Yahweh saw and abhorred, because of the provocation of his sons and his daughters.

And when the Lord H3068 saw H7200 (QalImpf) [it], he abhorred H5006 (QalImpf) [them], because of the provoking H3708 of his sons, H1121 and of his daughters. H1323

And Jehovah seeth and despiseth- For the provocation of His sons and His daughters.

He said, “I will hide my face from them. I will see what their end will be; for they are a very perverse generation, children in whom is no faithfulness.

And he said, H559 (QalImpf) I will hide H5641 (HiphImpf) my face H6440 from them, I will see H7200 (QalImpf) what their end H319 [shall be]: for they [are] a very froward H8419 generation, H1755 children H1121 in whom [is] no faith. H529

And He saith: I hide My face from them, I see what is their latter end; For a froward generation are they, Sons in whom is no stedfastness.

For Yahweh will judge his people, and have compassion on his servants, when he sees that their power is gone, that there is no one remaining, shut up or left at large.

For the Lord H3068 shall judge H1777 (QalImpf) his people, H5971 and repent H5162 (HithImpf) himself for his servants, H5650 when he seeth H7200 (QalImpf) that [their] power H3027 is gone, H235 (QalPerf) and [there is] none H657 shut up, H6113 (QalPasPtc) or left. H5800 (QalPasPtc)

For Jehovah doth judge His people, And for His servants doth repent Himself. For He seeth-the going away of power, And none is restrained and left.

“See now that I myself am he. There is no god with me. I kill and I make alive. I wound and I heal. There is no one who can deliver out of my hand.

See ye, now, that I-I am He, And there is no god with Me: I put to death, and I keep alive; I have smitten, and I heal; And there is not from My hand a deliverer,

“Go up into this mountain of Abarim, to Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is across from Jericho; and see the land of Canaan, which I give to the children of Israel for a possession.

‘Go up unto this mount Abarim, mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, which is on the front of Jericho, and see the land of Canaan which I am giving to the sons of Israel for a possession;

For you shall see the land from a distance; but you shall not go there into the land which I give the children of Israel.”

but over-against thou seest the land, and thither thou dost not go in, unto the land which I am giving to the sons of Israel.’

He said of his father, and of his mother, ‘I have not seen him.’ He didn’t acknowledge his brothers, nor did he know his own children; for they have observed your word, and keep your covenant.

Who is saying of his father and his mother, I have not seen him; And his brethren he hath not discerned, And his sons he hath not known; For they have observed Thy saying, And Thy covenant they keep.

He provided the first part for himself, for the lawgiver’s portion was reserved for him. He came with the heads of the people. He executed the righteousness of Yahweh, His ordinances with Israel.”

And he provideth the first part for himself, For there the portion of the lawgiver is covered, And he cometh with the heads of the people; The righteousness of Jehovah he hath done, And His judgments with Israel.

Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is opposite Jericho. Yahweh showed him all the land of Gilead to Dan,

And Moses goeth up from the plains of Moab unto mount Nebo, the top of Pisgah, which is on the front of Jericho, and Jehovah sheweth him all the land-Gilead unto Dan,

Yahweh said to him, “This is the land which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your offspring.’ I have caused you to see it with your eyes, but you shall not go over there.”

Joshua the son of Nun secretly sent two men out of Shittim as spies, saying, “Go, view the land, including Jericho.” They went and came into the house of a prostitute whose name was Rahab, and slept there.

And Joshua H3091 the son H1121 of Nun H5126 sent H7971 (QalImpf) out of Shittim H7851 two H8147 men H582 to spy H7270 (PielPtc) secretly, H2791 saying, H559 (QalInf) Go H3212 (QalImpv) view H7200 (QalImpv) the land, H776 even Jericho. H3405 And they went, H3212 (QalImpf) and came H935 (QalImpf) into an harlot’s H2181 (QalActPtc) house, H802 H1004 named H8034 Rahab, H7343 and lodged H7901 (QalImpf) there.

And Joshua son of Nun sendeth from Shittim, two men, spies, silently, saying, ‘Go, see the land-and Jericho;’ and they go and come into the house of a woman, a harlot, and her name is Rahab, and they lie down there.

and they commanded the people, saying, “When you see the ark of Yahweh your God’s covenant, and the Levitical priests bearing it, then leave your place and follow it.

and command the people, saying, ‘When ye see the ark of the covenant of Jehovah your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then ye journey from your place, and have gone after it;

For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness until all the nation, even the men of war who came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they didn’t listen to Yahweh’s voice. Yahweh swore to them that he wouldn’t let them see the land which Yahweh swore to their fathers that he would give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.

For the children H1121 of Israel H3478 walked H1980 (QalPerf) forty H705 years H8141 in the wilderness, H4057 till all the people H1471 [that were] men H582 of war, H4421 which came out H3318 (QalActPtc) of Egypt, H4714 were consumed, H8552 (QalInf) because they obeyed H8085 (QalPerf) not the voice H6963 of the Lord: H3068 unto whom the Lord H3068 sware H7650 (NiphPerf) that he would not shew H7200 (HiphInf) them the land, H776 which the Lord H3068 sware H7650 (NiphPerf) unto their fathers H1 that he would give H5414 (QalInf) us, a land H776 that floweth H2100 (QalActPtc) with milk H2461 and honey. for forty years have the sons of Israel gone in the wilderness, till all the nation of the men of war who are coming out of Egypt, who hearkened not to the voice of Jehovah, to whom Jehovah hath sworn not to show them the land which Jehovah sware to their fathers to give to us, a land flowing with milk and honey, are consumed;

When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man stood in front of him with his sword drawn in his hand. Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us, or for our enemies?”

And it came to pass, when Joshua H3091 was by Jericho, H3405 that he lifted up H5375 (QalImpf) his eyes H5869 and looked, H7200 (QalImpf) and, behold, there stood H5975 (QalActPtc) a man H376 over against him with his sword H2719 drawn H8025 (QalPasPtc) in his hand: H3027 and Joshua H3091 went H3212 (QalImpf) unto him, and said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, [Art] thou for us, or for our adversaries? And it cometh to pass in Joshua’s being by Jericho, that he lifteth up his eyes, and looketh, and lo, one standing over-against him, and his drawn sword in his hand, and Joshua goeth unto him, and saith to him, ‘Art thou for us or for our adversaries?’

Yahweh said to Joshua, “Behold, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and the mighty men of valor.

And the Lord H3068 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Joshua, H3091 See, H7200 (QalImpv) I have given H5414 (QalPerf) into thine hand H3027 Jericho, H3405 and the king H4428 thereof, [and] the mighty men H1368 of valour. H2428

And Jehovah saith unto Joshua, ‘See, I have given into thy hand Jericho and its king-mighty ones of valour,

When I saw among the plunder a beautiful Babylonian robe, two hundred shekels° of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, then I coveted them and took them. Behold, they are hidden in the ground in the middle of my tent, with the silver under it.”

and I see among the spoil a goodly robe of Shinar, and two hundred shekels of silver, and one wedge of gold, whose weight is fifty shekels, and I desire them, and take them; and lo, they are hid in the earth, in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.’

Yahweh said to Joshua, “Don’t be afraid, and don’t be dismayed. Take all the warriors with you, and arise, go up to Ai. Behold, I have given into your hand the king of Ai, with his people, his city, and his land.

And the Lord H3068 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Joshua, H3091 Fear H3372 (QalImpf) not, neither be thou dismayed: H2865 (NiphImpf) take H3947 (QalImpv) all the people H5971 of war H4421 with thee, and arise, H6965 (QalImpv) go up H5927 (QalImpv) to Ai: H5857 see, H7200 (QalImpv) I have given H5414 (QalPerf) into thy hand H3027 the king H4428 of Ai, H5857 and his people, H5971 and his city, H5892 and his land: H776

And Jehovah saith unto Joshua, ‘Fear not, nor be affrighted, take with thee all the people of war, and rise, go up to Ai; see, I have given into thy hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land,

He commanded them, saying, “Behold, you shall lie in ambush against the city, behind the city. Don’t go very far from the city, but all of you be ready.

and commandeth them, saying, ‘See, ye are liers in wait against the city, at the rear of the city, ye go not very far off from the city, and all of you have been prepared,

It shall be, when you have seized the city, that you shall set the city on fire. You shall do this according to Yahweh’s word. Behold, I have commanded you.”

And it shall be, when ye have taken H8610 (QalInf) the city, H5892 [that] ye shall set H3341 (HiphImpf) the city H5892 on fire: H784 according to the commandment H1697 of the Lord H3068 shall ye do. H6213 (QalImpf) See, H7200 (QalImpv) I have commanded H6680 (PielPerf) you.

and it hath been, when ye capture the city, ye burn the city with fire, according to the word of Jehovah ye do, see, I have commanded you.’

When the king of Ai saw it, they hurried and rose up early, and the men of the city went out against Israel to battle, he and all his people, at the time appointed, before the Arabah; but he didn’t know that there was an ambush against him behind the city.

And it came to pass, when the king H4428 of Ai H5857 saw H7200 (QalInf) [it], that they hasted H4116 (PielImpf) and rose up early, H7925 (HiphImpf) and the men H582 of the city H5892 went out H3318 (QalImpf) against H7125 (QalInf) Israel H3478 to battle, H4421 he and all his people, H5971 at a time appointed, H4150 before H6440 the plain; H6160 but he wist H3045 (QalPerf) not that [there were] liers in ambush H693 (QalActPtc) against him behind H310 the city. H5892

And it cometh to pass, when the king of Ai seeth it, that hasten, and rise early, and go out do the men of the city to meet Israel for battle, he and all his people, at the appointed season, at the front of the plain, and he hath not known that an ambush is against him, on the rear of the city.

When the men of Ai looked behind them, they saw, and behold, the smoke of the city ascended up to heaven, and they had no power to flee this way or that way. The people who fled to the wilderness turned back on the pursuers.

And when the men H582 of Ai H5857 looked H6437 (QalImpf) behind H310 them, they saw, H7200 (QalImpf) and, behold, the smoke H6227 of the city H5892 ascended up H5927 (QalPerf) to heaven, H8064 and they had no power H3027 to flee H5127 (QalInf) this way or that way: H2008 and the people H5971 that fled H5127 (QalPtc) to the wilderness H4057 turned back H2015 (NiphPerf) upon the pursuers. And the men of Ai look behind them, and see, and lo, the smoke of the city hath gone up unto the heavens, and there hath not been in them power to flee hither and thither-and the people who are fleeing to the wilderness have turned against the pursuer,-

When Joshua and all Israel saw that the ambush had taken the city, and that the smoke of the city ascended, then they turned back and killed the men of Ai.

And when Joshua H3091 and all Israel H3478 saw H7200 (QalPerf) that the ambush H693 (QalActPtc) had taken H3920 (QalPerf) the city, H5892 and that the smoke H6227 of the city H5892 ascended, H5927 (QalPerf) then they turned again, H7725 (QalImpf) and slew H5221 (HiphImpf) the men H582 of Ai. H5857

and Joshua and all Israel have seen that the ambush hath captured the city, and that the smoke of the city hath gone up, and they turn back and smite the men of Ai;

“Therefore we said, ‘It shall be, when they tell us or our generations this in time to come, that we shall say, “Behold the pattern of Yahweh’s altar, which our fathers made, not for burnt offering, nor for sacrifice; but it is a witness between us and you.” ’

Therefore said H559 (QalImpf) we, that it shall be, when they should [so] say H559 (QalImpf) to us or to our generations H1755 in time to come, H4279 that we may say H559 (QalPerf) [again], Behold H7200 (QalImpv) the pattern H8403 of the altar H4196 of the Lord, H3068 which our fathers H1 made, H6213 (QalPerf) not for burnt offerings, H5930 nor for sacrifices; H2077 but it [is] a witness H5707 between us and you.

‘And we say, And it hath been, when they say so unto us, and unto our generations hereafter, that we have said, See the pattern of the altar of Jehovah, which our fathers made-not for burnt-offering nor for sacrifice-but a witness it is between us and you.

You have seen all that Yahweh your God has done to all these nations because of you; for it is Yahweh your God who has fought for you.

And ye have seen H7200 (QalPerf) all that the Lord H3068 your God H430 hath done H6213 (QalPerf) unto all these nations H1471 because H6440 of you; for the Lord H3068 your God H430 [is] he that hath fought H3898 (NiphPtc) for you.

and ye-ye have seen all that Jehovah your God hath done to all these nations because of you, for Jehovah your God is He who is fighting for you;

Behold, I have allotted to you these nations that remain, to be an inheritance for your tribes, from the Jordan, with all the nations that I have cut off, even to the great sea toward the going down of the sun.

Behold, H7200 (QalImpv) I have divided H5307 (HiphPerf) unto you by lot these nations H1471 that remain, H7604 (NiphPtc) to be an inheritance H5159 for your tribes, H7626 from Jordan, H3383 with all the nations H1471 that I have cut off, H3772 (HiphPerf) even unto the great H1419 sea H3220 westward. see, I have caused to fall to you these nations who are left for an inheritance to your tribes, from the Jordan, (and all the nations which I cut off), and the great sea, the going in of the sun.

When they cried out to Yahweh, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea on them, and covered them; and your eyes saw what I did in Egypt. You lived in the wilderness many days.

And when they cried H6817 (QalImpf) unto the Lord, H3068 he put H7760 (QalImpf) darkness H3990 between you and the Egyptians, H4713 and brought H935 (HiphImpf) the sea H3220 upon them, and covered H3680 (PielImpf) them; and your eyes H5869 have seen H7200 (QalImpf) what I have done H6213 (QalPerf) in Egypt: H4714 and ye dwelt H3427 (QalImpf) in the wilderness H4057 a long H7227 season. and they cry unto Jehovah, and He setteth thick darkness between you and the Egyptians, and bringeth on them the sea, and covereth them, and your eyes see that which I have done in Egypt; and ye dwell in a wilderness many days.

The watchers saw a man come out of the city, and they said to him, “Please show us the entrance into the city, and we will deal kindly with you.”

And the spies H8104 (QalActPtc) saw H7200 (QalImpf) a man H376 come forth H3318 (QalActPtc) out of the city, H5892 and they said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, Shew H7200 (HiphImpv) us, we pray thee, the entrance H3996 into the city, H5892 and we will shew H6213 (QalPerf) thee mercy. H2617

and the watchers see a man coming out from the city, and say to him, ‘Shew us, we pray thee, the entrance of the city, and we have done with thee kindness.’

He showed them the entrance into the city, and they struck the city with the edge of the sword; but they let the man and all his family go.

And when he shewed H7200 (HiphImpf) them the entrance H3996 into the city, H5892 they smote H5221 (HiphImpf) the city H5892 with the edge H6310 of the sword; H2719 but they let go H7971 (PielPerf) the man H376 and all his family. H4940

And he sheweth them the entrance of the city, and they smite the city by the mouth of the sword, and the man and all his family they have sent away;

The people served Yahweh all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great work of Yahweh that he had worked for Israel.

And the people H5971 served H5647 (QalImpf) the Lord H3068 all the days H3117 of Joshua, H3091 and all the days H3117 of the elders H2205 that outlived H748 (HiphPerf) H3117 H310 Joshua, H3091 who had seen H7200 (QalPerf) all the great H1419 works H4639 of the Lord, H3068 that he did H6213 (QalPerf) for Israel. and the people serve Jehovah all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who prolonged days after Joshua, who saw all the great work of Jehovah which He did to Israel.

After he had gone, his servants came and saw that the doors of the upper room were locked. They said, “Surely he is covering his feet^§ in the upper room.”

Behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, and said to him, “Come, and I will show you the man whom you seek.” He came to her; and behold, Sisera lay dead, and the tent peg was in his temples.

And lo, Barak is pursuing Sisera, and Jael cometh out to meet him, and saith to him, ‘Come, and I shew thee the man whom thou art seeking;’ and he cometh in unto her, and lo, Sisera is fallen-dead, and the pin in his temples.

They chose new gods. Then war was in the gates. Was there a shield or spear seen among forty thousand in Israel?

He chooseth new gods, Then war is at the gates! A shield is not seen-and a spear Among forty thousand in Israel.

Yahweh’s angel appeared to him, and said to him, “Yahweh is with you, you mighty man of valor!”

Yahweh’s angel appeared to the woman, and said to her, “See now, you are barren and childless; but you shall conceive and bear a son.
