[1] In Iconium, they entered together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a great multitude both of Jews and of Greeks believed. [2] But the disbelieving§ Jews stirred up and embittered the souls of the Gentiles against the brothers. [3] Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who testified to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands. [4] But the multitude of the city was divided. Part sided with the Jews and part with the apostles. [5] When some of both the Gentiles and the Jews, with their rulers, made a violent attempt to mistreat and stone them, [6] they became aware of it and fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra, Derbe, and the surrounding region. [7] There they preached the Good News. [8] At Lystra a certain man sat, impotent in his feet, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked. [9] He was listening to Paul speaking, who, fastening eyes on him and seeing that he had faith to be made whole, [10] said with a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet!” He leaped up and walked. [11] When the multitude saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voice, saying in the language of Lycaonia, “The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!” [12] They called Barnabas “Jupiter”, and Paul “Mercury”, because he was the chief speaker. [13] The priest of Jupiter, whose temple was in front of their city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, and would have made a sacrifice along with the multitudes. [14] But when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of it, they tore their clothes and sprang into the multitude, crying out, [15] “Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men of the same nature as you, and bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to the living God, who made the sky, the earth, the sea, and all that is in them; [16] who in the generations gone by allowed all the nations to walk in their own ways. [17] Yet he didn’t leave himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you‡ rains from the sky and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.” [18] Even saying these things, they hardly stopped the multitudes from making a sacrifice to them. [19] But some Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there, and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead. [20] But as the disciples stood around him, he rose up, and entered into the city. On the next day he went out with Barnabas to Derbe. [21] When they had preached the Good News to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch, [22] strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many afflictions we must enter into God’s Kingdom. [23] When they had appointed elders for them in every assembly, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord on whom they had believed. [24] They passed through Pisidia and came to Pamphylia. [25] When they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia. [26] From there they sailed to Antioch, from where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work which they had fulfilled. [27] When they had arrived and had gathered the assembly together, they reported all the things that God had done with them, and that he had opened a door of faith to the nations. [28] They stayed there with the disciples for a long time.

[1] AndG1161 it came to passG1096(Aor2MidDepInd) inG1722 Iconium,G2430 that theyG846 wentG1525(Aor2ActInf) bothG2596 togetherG846 intoG1519 the synagogueG4864 of the Jews,G2453 andG2532 soG3779 spake,G2980(AorActInf) thatG5620 a greatG4183 multitudeG4128 bothG5037 of the JewsG2453 and alsoG2532 of the GreeksG1672 believed.G4100(AorActInf) [2] ButG1161 the unbelievingG544(PresActPtc) JewsG2453 stirred upG1892(AorActInd) the Gentiles,G1484 andG2532 madeG2559 their mindsG5590 evil affectedG2559(AorActInd) againstG2596 the brethren.G80 [3] LongG2425 timeG5550 thereforeG3303 abode theyG1304(AorActInd) speaking boldlyG3955(PresMidPasDepPtc) inG1909 the Lord,G2962 whichG3588 gave testimonyG3140(PresActPtc) unto the wordG3056 of hisG846 grace,G5485 andG2532 grantedG1325(PresActPtc) signsG4592 andG2532 wondersG5059 to be doneG1096(PresMidPasDepInf) byG1223 theirG846 hands.G5495 [4] ButG1161 the multitudeG4128 of the cityG4172 was divided:G4977(AorPasInd) andG2532 partG3303 heldG2258(ImpfInd) withG4862 the Jews,G2453 andG1161 part withG4862 the apostles.G652 [5] AndG1161 whenG5613 there wasG1096 an assaultG3730 madeG1096(Aor2MidDepInd) bothG5037 of the Gentiles,G1484 and alsoG2532 of the JewsG2453 withG4862 theirG846 rulers,G758 to use [them] despitefully,G5195(AorActInf) andG2532 to stoneG3036(AorActInf) them,G846 [6] They were wareG4894(Aor2ActPtc) of [it], and fledG2703(Aor2ActInd) untoG1519 LystraG3082 andG2532 Derbe,G1191 citiesG4172 of Lycaonia,G3071 andG2532 unto the region that lieth round about:G4066 [7] And thereG2546 they preached the gospel.G2258(ImpfInd) [8] AndG2532 there satG2521(ImpfMidPasDepInd) a certainG5100 manG435 atG1722 Lystra,G3082 impotentG102 in his feet,G4228 beingG5225(PresActPtc) a crippleG5560 fromG1537 hisG846 mother’sG3384 womb,G2836 whoG3739 neverG3763 had walked:G4043(PlupfActInd) [9] The sameG3778 heardG191(ImpfActInd) PaulG3972 speak:G2980(PresActPtc) whoG3739 stedfastly beholdingG816(AorActPtc) him,G846 andG2532 perceivingG1492(Aor2ActPtc) thatG3754 he hadG2192(PresActInd) faithG4102 to be healed,G4982(AorPasInf) [10] SaidG2036(Aor2ActInd) with a loudG3173 voice,G5456 StandG450(Aor2ActImpr) uprightG3717 onG1909 thyG4675 feet.G4228 AndG2532 he leapedG242(ImpfMidPasDepInd) andG2532 walked.G4043(ImpfActInd) [11] AndG1161 when the peopleG3793 sawG1492(Aor2ActPtc) whatG3739 PaulG3972 had done,G4160(AorActInd) they lifted upG1869(AorActInd) theirG846 voices,G5456 sayingG3004(PresActPtc) in the speech of Lycaonia,G3072 The godsG2316 are come downG2597(Aor2ActInd) toG4314 usG2248 in the likenessG3666(AorPasPtc) of men.G444 [12] AndG5037 they calledG2564(ImpfActInd) Barnabas,G921 Jupiter;G2203 andG1161 Paul,G3972 Mercurius,G2060 becauseG1894 heG846 wasG2258(ImpfInd) the chiefG2233(PresMidPasDepPtc) speaker.G3056 [13] ThenG1161 the priestG2409 of Jupiter,G2203 whichG3588 wasG5607(PresPtc) beforeG4253 theirG846 city,G4172 broughtG5342(AorActPtc) oxenG5022 andG2532 garlandsG4725 untoG1909 the gates,G4440 and wouldG2309(ImpfActInd) have done sacrificeG2380(PresActInf) withG4862 the people.G3793 [14] [Which] whenG1161 the apostles,G652 BarnabasG921 andG2532 Paul,G3972 heardG191(AorActPtc) [of], they rentG1284(AorActPtc) theirG846 clothes,G2440 and ranG1530(AorActInd) in amongG1519 the people,G3793 crying out,G2896(PresActPtc) [15] AndG2532 saying,G3004(PresActPtc) Sirs,G435 whyG5101 do yeG4160(PresActInd) these things?G5130 WeG2249 alsoG2532 areG2070(PresInd) menG444 of like passionsG3663 with you,G5213 and preachG2097(PresMidPtc) unto youG5209 that ye should turnG1994(PresActInf) fromG575 theseG5023 vanitiesG3152 untoG1909 the livingG2198(PresActPtc) God,G2316 whichG3739 madeG4160(AorActInd) heaven,G3772 andG2532 earth,G1093 andG2532 the sea,G2281 andG2532 all thingsG3956 that are therein:G1722 [16] WhoG3739 inG1722 timesG1074 pastG3944(PerfMidPasDepPtc) sufferedG1439(AorActInd) allG3956 nationsG1484 to walkG4198(PresMidPasDepInf) in their ownG846 ways.G3598 [17] NeverthelessG2544 he leftG863(AorActInd) notG3756 himselfG1438 without witness,G267 in that he did good,G15(PresActPtc) and gaveG1325(PresActPtc) usG2254 rainG5205 from heaven,G3771 andG2532 fruitfulG2593 seasons,G2540 fillingG1705(PresActPtc) ourG2257 heartsG2588 with foodG5160 andG2532 gladness.G2167 [18] AndG2532 with theseG5023 sayingsG3004(PresActPtc) scarceG3433 restrained theyG2664(AorActInd) the people,G3793 that they hadG2380 notG3361 done sacrificeG2380(PresActInf) unto them.G846 [19] AndG1161 there came thitherG1904(Aor2ActInd) [certain] JewsG2453 fromG575 AntiochG490 andG2532 Iconium,G2430 whoG2532 persuadedG3982(AorActPtc) the people,G3793 and,G2532 having stonedG3034(AorActPtc) Paul,G3972 drewG4951(ImpfActInd) [him] out ofG1854 the city,G4172 supposingG3543(AorActPtc) heG846 had been dead.G2348(Perf2ActInf) [20] Howbeit,G1161 as the disciplesG3101 stood round aboutG2944(AorActPtc) him,G846 he rose up,G450(Aor2ActPtc) and cameG1525(Aor2ActInd) intoG1519 the city:G4172 andG2532 the next dayG1887 he departedG1831(Aor2ActInd) withG4862 BarnabasG921 toG1519 Derbe.G1191 [21] AndG5037 when they had preached the gospelG2097(AorMidPtc) to thatG1565 city,G4172 andG2532 had taughtG3100(AorActPtc) many,G2425 they returned againG5290(AorActInd) toG1519 Lystra,G3082 andG2532 [to] Iconium,G2430 andG2532 Antioch,G490 [22] ConfirmingG1991(PresActPtc) the soulsG5590 of the disciples,G3101 [and] exhorting themG3870(PresActPtc) to continueG1696(PresActInf) in the faith,G4102 andG2532 thatG3754 weG2248 mustG1163(PresInd) throughG1223 muchG4183 tribulationG2347 enterG1525(Aor2ActInf) intoG1519 the kingdomG932 of God.G2316 [23] AndG1161 when they had ordainedG5500(AorActPtc) themG846 eldersG4245 in everyG2596 church,G1577 and had prayedG4336(AorMidDepPtc) withG3326 fasting,G3521 they commendedG3908(Aor2MidInd) themG846 to the Lord,G2962 onG1519 whomG3739 they believed.G4100(PlupfActInd) [24] AndG2532 after they had passed throughoutG1330(Aor2ActPtc) Pisidia,G4099 they cameG2064(Aor2ActInd) toG1519 Pamphylia.G3828 [25] AndG2532 when they had preachedG2980(AorActPtc) the wordG3056 inG1722 Perga,G4011 they went downG2597(Aor2ActInd) intoG1519 Attalia:G825 [26] And thenceG2547 sailedG636(AorActInd) toG1519 Antioch,G490 from whenceG3606 they had beenG2258(ImpfInd) recommendedG3860(PerfPasPtc) to the graceG5485 of GodG2316 forG1519 the workG2041 whichG3739 they fulfilled.G4137(AorActInd) [27] AndG1161 when they were come,G3854(Aor2MidDepPtc) andG2532 had gatheredG4863 the churchG1577 together,G4863(Aor2ActPtc) they rehearsedG312(AorActInd) allG3745 that GodG2316 had doneG4160(AorActInd) withG3326 them,G846 andG2532 howG3754 he had openedG455(AorActInd) the doorG2374 of faithG4102 unto the Gentiles.G1484 [28] AndG1161 thereG1563 they abodeG1304(ImpfActInd) longG3756 timeG5550 withG4862 the disciples.G3101
