When you came to this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon and Og the king of Bashan came out against us to battle, and we struck them.

‘And ye come in unto this place, and Sihon king of Heshbon-also Og king of Bashan-doth come out to meet us, to battle, and we smite them,

The generation to come—your children who will rise up after you, and the foreigner who will come from a far land—will say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses with which Yahweh has made it sick,

So that the generation H1755 to come H314 of your children H1121 that shall rise up H6965 (QalImpf) after H310 you, and the stranger H5237 that shall come H935 (QalImpf) from a far H7350 land, H776 shall say, H559 (QalPerf) when they see H7200 (QalPerf) the plagues H4347 of that land, H776 and the sicknesses H8463 which the Lord H3068 hath laid H2470 (PielPerf) upon it;

‘And the latter generation of your sons who rise after you, and the stranger who cometh in from a land afar off, have said when they have seen the strokes of that land, and its sicknesses which Jehovah hath sent into it,-

Therefore Yahweh’s anger burned against this land, to bring on it all the curses that are written in this book.

And the anger H639 of the Lord H3068 was kindled H2734 (QalImpf) against this land, H776 to bring H935 (HiphInf) upon it all the curses H7045 that are written H3789 (QalPasPtc) in this book: H5612

and the anger of Jehovah burneth against that land, to bring in on it all the reviling that is written in this book,

It shall happen, when all these things have come on you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you, and you shall call them to mind among all the nations where Yahweh your God has driven you,

And it shall come to pass, when all these things H1697 are come H935 (QalImpf) upon thee, the blessing H1293 and the curse, H7045 which I have set H5414 (QalPerf) before H6440 thee, and thou shalt call H7725 (HiphPerf) [them] to mind H3824 among all the nations, H1471 whither the Lord H3068 thy God H430 hath driven H5080 (HiphPerf) thee,

‘And it hath been, when all these things come upon thee, the blessing and the reviling, which I have set before thee, and thou hast brought them back unto thy heart, among all the nations whither Jehovah thy God hath driven thee away,

Yahweh your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you will possess it. He will do you good, and increase your numbers more than your fathers.

And the Lord H3068 thy God H430 will bring H935 (HiphPerf) thee into the land H776 which thy fathers H1 possessed, H3423 (QalPerf) and thou shalt possess H3423 (QalPerf) it; and he will do thee good, H3190 (HiphPerf) and multiply H7235 (HiphPerf) thee above thy fathers. H1

and Jehovah thy God hath brought thee in unto the land which thy fathers have possessed, and thou hast inherited it, and He hath done thee good, and multiplied thee above thy fathers.

For I command you today to love Yahweh your God, to walk in his ways and to keep his commandments, his statutes, and his ordinances, that you may live and multiply, and that Yahweh your God may bless you in the land where you go in to possess it.

In that I command H6680 (PielPtc) thee this day H3117 to love H157 (QalInf) the Lord H3068 thy God, H430 to walk H3212 (QalInf) in his ways, H1870 and to keep H8104 (QalInf) his commandments H4687 and his statutes H2708 and his judgments, H4941 that thou mayest live H2421 (QalPerf) and multiply: H7235 (QalPerf) and the Lord H3068 thy God H430 shall bless H1288 (PielPerf) thee in the land H776 whither thou goest H935 (QalActPtc) to possess H3423 (QalInf) it.

in that I am commanding thee to-day to love Jehovah thy God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commands, and His statutes, and His judgments; and thou hast lived and multiplied, and Jehovah thy God hath blessed thee in the land whither thou art going in to possess it.

I declare to you today that you will surely perish. You will not prolong your days in the land where you pass over the Jordan to go in to possess it.

I have declared to you this day, that ye do certainly perish, ye do not prolong days on the ground which thou art passing over the Jordan to go in thither to possess it.

He said to them, “I am one hundred twenty years old today. I can no more go out and come in. Yahweh has said to me, ‘You shall not go over this Jordan.’

and he saith unto them, ‘A son of a hundred and twenty years am I to-day; I am not able any more to go out and to come in, and Jehovah hath said unto me, Thou dost not pass over this Jordan,

Moses called to Joshua, and said to him in the sight of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for you shall go with this people into the land which Yahweh has sworn to their fathers to give them; and you shall cause them to inherit it.

And Moses calleth for Joshua, and saith unto him before the eyes of all Israel, ‘Be strong and courageous, for thou-thou dost go in with this people unto the land which Jehovah hath sworn to their fathers to give to them, and thou-thou dost cause them to inherit it;

when all Israel has come to appear before Yahweh your God in the place which he will choose, you shall read this law before all Israel in their hearing.

in the coming in of all Israel to see the face of Jehovah in the place which He chooseth, thou dost proclaim this law before all Israel, in their ears.

Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, you shall sleep with your fathers. This people will rise up and play the prostitute after the strange gods of the land where they go to be among them, and will forsake me and break my covenant which I have made with them.

And the Lord H3068 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Moses, H4872 Behold, thou shalt sleep H7901 (QalActPtc) with thy fathers; H1 and this people H5971 will rise up, H6965 (QalPerf) and go a whoring H2181 (QalPerf) after H310 the gods H430 of the strangers H5236 of the land, H776 whither they go H935 (QalActPtc) [to be] among H7130 them, and will forsake H5800 (QalPerf) me, and break H6565 (HiphPerf) my covenant H1285 which I have made H3772 (QalPerf) with them.

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, ‘Lo, thou art lying down with thy fathers, and this people hath risen, and gone a-whoring after the gods of the stranger of the land into the midst of which it hath entered, and forsaken Me, and broken My covenant which I made with it;

For when I have brought them into the land which I swore to their fathers, flowing with milk and honey, and they have eaten and filled themselves, and grown fat, then they will turn to other gods, and serve them, and despise me, and break my covenant.

and I bring them in unto the ground which I have sworn to their fathers-flowing with milk and honey, and they have eaten, and been satisfied, and been fat, and have turned unto other gods, and they have served them, and despised Me, and broken My covenant.

It will happen, when many evils and troubles have come on them, that this song will testify before them as a witness; for it will not be forgotten out of the mouths of their descendants; for I know their ways and what they are doing today, before I have brought them into the land which I promised them.”

And it shall come to pass, when many H7227 evils H7451 and troubles H6869 are befallen H4672 (QalImpf) them, that this song H7892 shall testify H6030 (QalPerf) against H6440 them as a witness; H5707 for it shall not be forgotten H7911 (NiphImpf) out of the mouths H6310 of their seed: H2233 for I know H3045 (QalPerf) their imagination H3336 which they go about, H6213 (QalActPtc) even now, H3117 before I have brought H935 (HiphImpf) them into the land H776 which I sware. ‘And it hath been, when many evils and distresses do meet it, that this song hath testified to its face for a witness; for it is not forgotten out of the mouth of its seed, for I have known its imagining which it is doing to-day, before I bring them in unto the land of which I have sworn.’

He commissioned Joshua the son of Nun, and said, “Be strong and courageous; for you shall bring the children of Israel into the land which I swore to them. I will be with you.”

And he gave Joshua H3091 the son H1121 of Nun H5126 a charge, H6680 (PielImpf) and said, H559 (QalImpf) Be strong H2388 (QalImpv) and of a good courage: H553 (QalImpv) for thou shalt bring H935 (HiphImpf) the children H1121 of Israel H3478 into the land H776 which I sware H7650 (NiphPerf) unto them: and I will be with thee.

and He commandeth Joshua son of Nun, and saith, ‘Be strong and courageous, for thou dost bring in the sons of Israel unto the land which I have sworn to them, and I-I am with thee.’

They sacrificed to demons, not God, to gods that they didn’t know, to new gods that came up recently, which your fathers didn’t dread.

They sacrificed H2076 (QalImpf) unto devils, H7700 not to God; H433 to gods H430 whom they knew H3045 (QalPerf) not, to new H2319 [gods that] came H935 newly H7138 up, H935 (QalPerf) whom your fathers H1 feared H8175 (QalPerf) not.

They sacrifice to demons-no god! Gods they have not known- New ones-from the vicinity they came; Not feared them have your fathers!

Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he and Joshua the son of Nun.

And Moses H4872 came H935 (QalImpf) and spake H1696 (PielImpf) all the words H1697 of this song H7892 in the ears H241 of the people, H5971 he, and Hoshea H1954 the son H1121 of Nun. H5126

And Moses cometh and speaketh all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he and Hoshea son of Nun;

For you shall see the land from a distance; but you shall not go there into the land which I give the children of Israel.”

Yet thou shalt see H7200 (QalImpf) the land H776 before [thee]; but thou shalt not go H935 (QalImpf) thither unto the land H776 which I give H5414 (QalActPtc) the children H1121 of Israel. H3478

but over-against thou seest the land, and thither thou dost not go in, unto the land which I am giving to the sons of Israel.’

He said, “Yahweh came from Sinai, and rose from Seir to them. He shone from Mount Paran. He came from the ten thousands of holy ones. At his right hand was a fiery law for them.^‡

And this is for Judah; and he saith:- Hear, O Jehovah, the voice of Judah, And unto his people do Thou bring him in; His hand hath striven for him, And an help from his adversaries art Thou.

for the precious things of the earth and its fullness, the good will of him who lived in the bush.° Let this come on the head of Joseph, on the crown of the head of him who was separated from his brothers.

“Pass through the middle of the camp, and command the people, saying, ‘Prepare food; for within three days you are to pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land which Yahweh your God gives you to possess.’ ”

‘Pass over into the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying, Prepare for yourselves provision, for within three days ye are passing over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land which Jehovah your God is giving to you to possess it.’

Joshua the son of Nun secretly sent two men out of Shittim as spies, saying, “Go, view the land, including Jericho.” They went and came into the house of a prostitute whose name was Rahab, and slept there.

And Joshua H3091 the son H1121 of Nun H5126 sent H7971 (QalImpf) out of Shittim H7851 two H8147 men H582 to spy H7270 (PielPtc) secretly, H2791 saying, H559 (QalInf) Go H3212 (QalImpv) view H7200 (QalImpv) the land, H776 even Jericho. H3405 And they went, H3212 (QalImpf) and came H935 (QalImpf) into an harlot’s H2181 (QalActPtc) house, H802 H1004 named H8034 Rahab, H7343 and lodged H7901 (QalImpf) there.

And Joshua son of Nun sendeth from Shittim, two men, spies, silently, saying, ‘Go, see the land-and Jericho;’ and they go and come into the house of a woman, a harlot, and her name is Rahab, and they lie down there.

The king of Jericho was told, “Behold,^§ men of the children of Israel came in here tonight to spy out the land.”

Joshua 2:2 “Behold”, from “הִנֵּה”, means look at, take notice, observe, see, or gaze at. It is often used as an interjection.

And it was told H559 (NiphImpf) the king H4428 of Jericho, H3405 saying, H559 (QalInf) Behold, there came H935 (QalPerf) men H582 in hither to night H3915 of the children H1121 of Israel H3478 to search out H2658 (QalInf) the country. H776

And it is told to the king of Jericho, saying, ‘Lo, men have come in hither to-night, from the sons of Israel, to search the land.

Jericho’s king sent to Rahab, saying, “Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered into your house; for they have come to spy out all the land.”

And the king H4428 of Jericho H3405 sent H7971 (QalImpf) unto Rahab, H7343 saying, H559 (QalInf) Bring forth H3318 (HiphImpv) the men H582 that are come H935 (QalActPtc) to thee, which are entered H935 (QalPerf) into thine house: H1004 for they be come H935 (QalPerf) to search out H2658 (QalInf) all the country. And the king of Jericho sendeth unto Rahab, saying, ‘Bring out the men who are coming in unto thee, who have come into thy house, for to search the whole of the land they have come in.

The woman took the two men and hid them. Then she said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I didn’t know where they came from.

And the woman H802 took H3947 (QalImpf) the two H8147 men, H582 and hid H6845 (QalImpf) them, and said H559 (QalImpf) thus, There came H935 (QalPerf) men H582 unto me, but I wist H3045 (QalPerf) not whence H370 they [were]:

And the woman taketh the two men, and hideth them, and saith thus: ‘The men came in unto me, and I have not known whence they are;

Behold, when we come into the land, tie this line of scarlet thread in the window which you used to let us down. Gather to yourself into the house your father, your mother, your brothers, and all your father’s household.

lo, we are coming into the land, this line of scarlet thread thou dost bind to the window by which thou hast caused us to go down, and thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all the house of thy father thou dost gather unto thee, to the house;

They went and came to the mountain, and stayed there three days, until the pursuers had returned. The pursuers sought them all along the way, but didn’t find them.

And they went, H3212 (QalImpf) and came H935 (QalImpf) unto the mountain, H2022 and abode H3427 (QalImpf) there three H7969 days, H3117 until the pursuers H7291 (QalActPtc) were returned: H7725 (QalPerf) and the pursuers H7291 (QalActPtc) sought H1245 (PielImpf) [them] throughout all the way, H1870 but found H4672 (QalPerf) [them] not.

And they go, and come in to the mountain, and abide there three days until the pursuers have turned back; and the pursuers seek in all the way, and have not found.

Then the two men returned, descended from the mountain, crossed the river, and came to Joshua the son of Nun. They told him all that had happened to them.

So the two H8147 men H582 returned, H7725 (QalImpf) and descended H3381 (QalImpf) from the mountain, H2022 and passed over, H5674 (QalImpf) and came H935 (QalImpf) to Joshua H3091 the son H1121 of Nun, H5126 and told H5608 (PielImpf) him all [things] that befell H4672 (QalActPtc) them:

And the two men turn back, and come down from the hill, and pass over, and come in unto Joshua son of Nun, and recount to him all that hath come upon them;

Joshua got up early in the morning; and they moved from Shittim and came to the Jordan, he and all the children of Israel. They camped there before they crossed over.

And Joshua H3091 rose early H7925 (HiphImpf) in the morning; H1242 and they removed H5265 (QalImpf) from Shittim, H7851 and came H935 (QalImpf) to Jordan, H3383 he and all the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 and lodged H3885 (QalImpf) there before they passed over. H5674 (QalImpf)

And Joshua riseth early in the morning, and they journey from Shittim, and come in unto the Jordan, he and all the sons of Israel, and they lodge there before they pass over.

You shall command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant, saying, ‘When you come to the brink of the waters of the Jordan, you shall stand still in the Jordan.’ ”

and thou, thou dost command the priests bearing the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye come unto the extremity of the waters of the Jordan-in the Jordan ye stand.’

and when those who bore the ark had come to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark had dipped in the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks all the time of harvest),

and at those bearing the ark coming in unto the Jordan, and the feet of the priests bearing the ark have been dipped in the extremity of the waters (and the Jordan is full over all its banks all the days of harvest)-

He said, “No; but I have come now as commander of Yahweh’s army.” Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and worshiped, and asked him, “What does my lord say to his servant?”

And he said, H559 (QalImpf) Nay; but [as] captain H8269 of the host H6635 of the Lord H3068 am I now come. H935 (QalPerf) And Joshua H3091 fell H5307 (QalImpf) on his face H6440 to the earth, H776 and did worship, H7812 (HithImpf) and said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, What saith H1696 (PielPtc) my lord H113 unto his servant? And He saith, ‘No, for I am Prince of Jehovah’s host; now I have come;’ and Joshua falleth on his face to the earth, and doth obeisance, and saith to Him, ‘What is my Lord speaking unto His servant?’

Now Jericho was tightly shut up because of the children of Israel. No one went out, and no one came in.

Now Jericho H3405 was straitly H5462 (QalActPtc) shut up H5462 (PualPtc) because H6440 of the children H1121 of Israel: H3478 none went out, H3318 (QalActPtc) and none came in. H935 (QalActPtc)

(And Jericho shutteth itself up, and is shut up, because of the presence of the sons of Israel-none going out, and none coming in;)

So he caused Yahweh’s ark to go around the city, circling it once. Then they came into the camp, and stayed in the camp.

So the ark H727 of the Lord H3068 compassed H5437 (HiphImpf) the city, H5892 going about H5362 (HiphInf) [it] once: H6471 H259 and they came H935 (QalImpf) into the camp, H4264 and lodged H3885 (QalImpf) in the camp. H4264

And the ark of Jehovah doth compass the city, going round once, and they come into the camp, and lodge in the camp.

But all the silver, gold, and vessels of bronze and iron are holy to Yahweh. They shall come into Yahweh’s treasury.”

But all the silver, H3701 and gold, H2091 and vessels H3627 of brass H5178 and iron, H1270 [are] consecrated H6944 unto the Lord: H3068 they shall come H935 (QalImpf) into the treasury H214 of the Lord. H3068

and all the silver and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, holy they are to Jehovah; into the treasury of Jehovah they come.’

Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land, “Go into the prostitute’s house, and bring the woman and all that she has out from there, as you swore to her.”

But Joshua H3091 had said H559 (QalPerf) unto the two H8147 men H582 that had spied out H7270 (PielPtc) the country, H776 Go H935 (QalImpv) into the harlot’s H2181 (QalActPtc) house, H1004 and bring out H3318 (HiphImpv) thence the woman, H802 and all that she hath, as ye sware H7650 (NiphPerf) unto her.

And to the two men who are spying the land Joshua said, ‘Go into the house of the woman, the harlot, and bring out thence the woman, and all whom she hath, as ye have sworn to her.’

The young men who were spies went in, and brought out Rahab with her father, her mother, her brothers, and all that she had. They also brought out all of her relatives, and they set them outside of the camp of Israel.

And the young men H5288 that were spies H7270 (PielPtc) went in, H935 (QalImpf) and brought out H3318 (HiphImpf) Rahab, H7343 and her father, H1 and her mother, H517 and her brethren, H251 and all that she had; and they brought out H3318 (HiphPerf) all her kindred, H4940 and left H3240 (HiphImpf) them without H2351 the camp H4264 of Israel. And the young man, the spies, go in and bring out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all whom she hath; yea, all her families they have brought out, and place them at the outside of the camp of Israel.

They took them from the middle of the tent, and brought them to Joshua and to all the children of Israel. They laid them down before Yahweh.

And they took H3947 (QalImpf) them out of the midst H8432 of the tent, H168 and brought H935 (HiphImpf) them unto Joshua, H3091 and unto all the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 and laid them out H3332 (HiphImpf) before H6440 the Lord. H3068

and they take them out of the midst of the tent, and bring them in unto Joshua, and unto all the sons of Israel, and pour them out before Jehovah.

All the people, even the men of war who were with him, went up and came near, and came before the city and encamped on the north side of Ai. Now there was a valley between him and Ai.

And all the people, H5971 [even the people] of war H4421 that [were] with him, went up, H5927 (QalPerf) and drew nigh, H5066 (QalImpf) and came H935 (QalImpf) before the city, H5892 and pitched H2583 (QalImpf) on the north side H6828 of Ai: H5857 now [there was] a valley H1516 between them and Ai. H5857

and all the people of war who are with him have gone up, and draw nigh and come in over-against the city, and encamp on the north of Ai; and the valley is between him and Ai.

The ambush arose quickly out of their place, and they ran as soon as he had stretched out his hand and entered into the city and took it. They hurried and set the city on fire.

And the ambush H693 (QalActPtc) arose H6965 (QalPerf) quickly H4120 out of their place, H4725 and they ran H7323 (QalImpf) as soon as he had stretched out H5186 (QalInf) his hand: H3027 and they entered H935 (QalImpf) into the city, H5892 and took H3920 (QalImpf) it, and hasted H4116 (PielImpf) and set H3341 (HiphImpf) the city H5892 on fire. H784

and the ambush hath risen with haste, out of its place, and they run at the stretching out of his hand, and go into the city, and capture it, and hasten, and burn the city with fire.

He hanged the king of Ai on a tree until the evening. At sundown, Joshua commanded, and they took his body down from the tree and threw it at the entrance of the gate of the city, and raised a great heap of stones on it that remains to this day.

And the king H4428 of Ai H5857 he hanged H8518 (QalPerf) on a tree H6086 until eventide: H6256 H6153 and as soon as the sun H8121 was down, H935 (QalInf) Joshua H3091 commanded H6680 (PielPerf) that they should take H3381 his carcase H5038 down H3381 (HiphImpf) from the tree, H6086 and cast H7993 (HiphImpf) it at the entering H6607 of the gate H8179 of the city, H5892 and raise H6965 (HiphImpf) thereon a great H1419 heap H1530 of stones, H68 [that remaineth] unto this day. H3117

and the king of Ai he hath hanged on the tree till even-time, and at the going in of the sun hath Joshua commanded, and they take down his carcase from the tree, and cast it unto the opening of the gate of the city, and raise over it a great heap of stones till this day.

They went to Joshua at the camp at Gilgal, and said to him and to the men of Israel, “We have come from a far country. Now therefore make a covenant with us.”

And they went H3212 (QalImpf) to Joshua H3091 unto the camp H4264 at Gilgal, H1537 and said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, and to the men H376 of Israel, H3478 We be come H935 (QalPerf) from a far H7350 country: H776 now therefore make H3772 (QalImpv) ye a league H1285 with us.

And they go unto Joshua, unto the camp at Gilgal, and say unto him, and unto the men of Israel, ‘From a land far off we have come, and now, make with us a covenant;’

They said to Joshua, “We are your servants.” Joshua said to them, “Who are you? Where do you come from?”

And they said H559 (QalImpf) unto Joshua, H3091 We [are] thy servants. H5650 And Joshua H3091 said H559 (QalImpf) unto them, Who [are] ye? and from whence H370 come H935 (QalImpf) ye?

and they say unto Joshua, ‘Thy servants we are.’ And Joshua saith unto them, ‘Who are ye? and whence come ye?’

They said to him, “Your servants have come from a very far country because of the name of Yahweh your God; for we have heard of his fame, all that he did in Egypt,

And they said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, From a very H3966 far H7350 country H776 thy servants H5650 are come H935 (QalPerf) because of the name H8034 of the Lord H3068 thy God: H430 for we have heard H8085 (QalPerf) the fame H8089 of him, and all that he did H6213 (QalPerf) in Egypt, H4714

And they say unto him, ‘From a land very far off have thy servants come, for the name of Jehovah thy God, for we have heard His fame, and all that He hath done in Egypt,

The children of Israel traveled and came to their cities on the third day. Now their cities were Gibeon, Chephirah, Beeroth, and Kiriath Jearim.

And the children H1121 of Israel H3478 journeyed, H5265 (QalImpf) and came H935 (QalImpf) unto their cities H5892 on the third H7992 day. H3117 Now their cities H5892 [were] Gibeon, H1391 and Chephirah, H3716 and Beeroth, H881 and Kirjathjearim. H7157

And the sons of Israel journey and come in unto their cities on the third day-and their cities are Gibeon, and Chephirah, and Beeroth, and Kirjath-Jearim-

Joshua therefore came to them suddenly. He marched from Gilgal all night.

Joshua H3091 therefore came H935 (QalImpf) unto them suddenly, H6597 [and] went up H5927 (QalPerf) from Gilgal H1537 all night. H3915

And Joshua cometh in unto them suddenly (all the night he hath gone up from Gilgal),

The sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the nation had avenged themselves of their enemies. Isn’t this written in the book of Jashar? The sun stayed in the middle of the sky, and didn’t hurry to go down about a whole day.

And the sun H8121 stood still, H1826 (QalImpf) and the moon H3394 stayed, H5975 (QalPerf) until the people H1471 had avenged H5358 (QalImpf) themselves upon their enemies. H341 (QalActPtc) [Is] not this H1931 written H3789 (QalPasPtc) in the book H5612 of Jasher? H3477 So the sun H8121 stood still H5975 (QalImpf) in the midst H2677 of heaven, H8064 and hasted H213 (QalPerf) not to go down H935 (QalInf) about a whole H8549 day. H3117

and the sun standeth still, and the moon hath stood-till the nation taketh vengeance on its enemies; is it not written on the Book of the Upright, ‘and the sun standeth in the midst of the heavens, and hath not hasted to go in-as a perfect day?’

but don’t stay there. Pursue your enemies, and attack them from the rear. Don’t allow them to enter into their cities; for Yahweh your God has delivered them into your hand.”

And stay H5975 (QalImpf) ye not, [but] pursue H7291 (QalImpv) after H310 your enemies, H341 (QalActPtc) and smite the hindmost H2179 (PielPerf) of them; suffer H5414 (QalImpf) them not to enter H935 (QalInf) into their cities: H5892 for the Lord H3068 your God H430 hath delivered H5414 (QalPerf) them into your hand. and ye, stand not, pursue after your enemies, and ye have smitten the hindmost of them; suffer them not to go in unto their cities, for Jehovah your God hath given them into your hand.’

When Joshua and the children of Israel had finished killing them with a very great slaughter until they were consumed, and the remnant which remained of them had entered into the fortified cities,

And it came to pass, when Joshua H3091 and the children H1121 of Israel H3478 had made an end H3615 (PielInf) of slaying H5221 (HiphInf) them with a very H3966 great H1419 slaughter, H4347 till they were consumed, H8552 (QalInf) that the rest H8300 [which] remained H8277 (QalPerf) of them entered H935 (QalImpf) into fenced H4013 cities. H5892

And it cometh to pass, when Joshua and the sons of Israel finish to smite them-a very great smiting, till they are consumed, and the remnant who have remained of them go in unto the fenced cities,

At the time of the going down of the sun, Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and threw them into the cave in which they had hidden themselves, and laid great stones on the mouth of the cave, which remain to this very day.

And it came to pass at the time H6256 of the going down H935 (QalInf) of the sun, H8121 [that] Joshua H3091 commanded, H6680 (PielPerf) and they took them down H3381 (HiphImpf) off the trees, H6086 and cast H7993 (HiphImpf) them into the cave H4631 wherein they had been hid, H2244 (NiphPerf) and laid H7760 (QalImpf) great H1419 stones H68 in the cave’s H4631 mouth, H6310 [which remain] until this very H6106 day. H3117

And it cometh to pass, at the time of the going in of the sun, Joshua hath commanded, and they take them down from off the trees, and cast them unto the cave where they had been hid, and put great stones on the mouth of the cave till this very day.
