And Joshua cometh at that time, and cutteth off the Anakim from the hill-country, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, even from all the hill-country of Judah, and from all the hill-country of Israel; with their cities hath Joshua devoted them.

Now Joshua was old and well advanced in years. Yahweh said to him, “You are old and advanced in years, and there remains yet very much land to be possessed.

And Joshua is old, entering into days, and Jehovah saith unto him, ‘Thou hast become aged, thou hast entered into days; as to the land, very much hath been left to possess.

and the land of the Gebalites, and all Lebanon, toward the sunrise, from Baal Gad under Mount Hermon to the entrance of Hamath;

and the land of the Giblite, and all Lebanon, at the sun-rising, from Baal-Gad under mount Hermon, unto the going in to Hamath:

As yet I am as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me. As my strength was then, even so is my strength now for war, to go out and to come in.

When she came, she had him ask her father for a field. She got off her donkey, and Caleb said, “What do you want?”

And it cometh to pass, in her coming in, that she persuadeth him to ask from her father a field, and she lighteth from off the ass, and Caleb saith to her, ‘What-to thee?’

Joshua said to the children of Israel, “How long will you neglect to go in to possess the land, which Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has given you?

and Joshua saith unto the sons of Israel, ‘Till when are ye remiss to go in to possess the land which He hath given to you, Jehovah, God of your fathers?

Appoint for yourselves three men from each tribe. I will send them, and they shall arise, walk through the land, and describe it according to their inheritance; then they shall come to me.

Give for you three men for a tribe, and I send them, and they rise and go up and down through the land, and describe it according to their inheritance, and come in unto me,

You shall survey the land into seven parts, and bring the description here to me; and I will cast lots for you here before Yahweh our God.

and ye describe the land in seven portions, and have brought it in unto me hither, and I have cast for you a lot here before Jehovah our God;

The men went and passed through the land, and surveyed it by cities into seven portions in a book. They came to Joshua to the camp at Shiloh.

And the men H582 went H3212 (QalImpf) and passed through H5674 (QalImpf) the land, H776 and described H3789 (QalImpf) it by cities H5892 into seven H7651 parts H2506 in a book, H5612 and came H935 (QalImpf) [again] to Joshua H3091 to the host H4264 at Shiloh. H7887

And the men go, and pass over through the land, and describe it by cities, in seven portions, on a book, and they come in unto Joshua, unto the camp, at Shiloh.

He shall dwell in that city until he stands before the congregation for judgment, until the death of the high priest that shall be in those days. Then the man slayer shall return, and come to his own city, and to his own house, to the city he fled from.’ ”

and he hath dwelt in that city till his standing before the company for judgment, till the death of the chief priest who is in those days-then doth the man-slayer turn back and hath come unto his city, and unto his house, unto the city whence he fled.’

Nothing failed of any good thing which Yahweh had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.

there hath not fallen a thing of all the good thing which Jehovah spake unto the house of Israel-the whole hath come.

When they came to the region near the Jordan, that is in the land of Canaan, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh built an altar there by the Jordan, a great altar to look at.

And when they came H935 (QalImpf) unto the borders H1552 of Jordan, H3383 that [are] in the land H776 of Canaan, H3667 the children H1121 of Reuben H7205 and the children H1121 of Gad H1410 and the half H2677 tribe H7626 of Manasseh H4519 built H1129 (QalImpf) there an altar H4196 by Jordan, H3383 a great H1419 altar H4196 to see to. and they come in unto the districts of the Jordan, which are in the land of Canaan, and the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh, build there an altar by the Jordan-a great altar for appearance.

They came to the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, to the land of Gilead, and they spoke with them, saying,

After many days, when Yahweh had given rest to Israel from their enemies all around, and Joshua was old and well advanced in years,

And it cometh to pass, many days after that Jehovah hath given rest to Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua is old, entering into days,

Joshua called for all Israel, for their elders and for their heads, and for their judges and for their officers, and said to them, “I am old and well advanced in years.

and Joshua calleth for all Israel, for its elders, and for its heads, and for its judges, and for its authorities, and saith unto them, ‘I have become old; I have entered into days;

that you not come among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow down yourselves to them;

so as not to go in among these nations, these who are left with you; and of the name of their gods ye do not make mention, nor do ye swear, nor do ye serve them, nor do ye bow yourselves to them;

“But if you do at all go back, and hold fast to the remnant of these nations, even these who remain among you, and make marriages with them, and go in to them, and they to you;

Else if ye do in any wise H7725 (QalInf) go back, H7725 (QalImpf) and cleave H1692 (QalPerf) unto the remnant H3499 of these nations, H1471 [even] these that remain H7604 (NiphPtc) among you, and shall make marriages H2859 (HithPerf) with them, and go in H935 (QalPerf) unto them, and they to you:

‘But-if ye at all turn back and have cleaved to the remnant of these nations, these who are left with you, and intermarried with them, and gone in to them, and they to you,

“Behold, today I am going the way of all the earth. You know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which Yahweh your God spoke concerning you. All have happened to you. Not one thing has failed of it.

And, behold, this day H3117 I [am] going H1980 (QalActPtc) the way H1870 of all the earth: H776 and ye know H3045 (QalPerf) in all your hearts H3824 and in all your souls, H5315 that not one H259 thing H1697 hath failed H5307 (QalPerf) of all the good H2896 things H1697 which the Lord H3068 your God H430 spake H1696 (PielPerf) concerning you; all are come to pass H935 (QalPerf) unto you, [and] not one H259 thing H1697 hath failed H5307 (QalPerf) thereof.

‘And lo, I am going, to-day, in the way of all the earth, and ye have known-with all your heart, and with all your soul-that there hath not fallen one thing of all the good things which Jehovah your God hath spoken concerning you; the whole have come to you; there hath not failed of it one thing.

It shall happen that as all the good things have come on you of which Yahweh your God spoke to you, so Yahweh will bring on you all the evil things, until he has destroyed you from off this good land which Yahweh your God has given you,

Therefore it shall come to pass, [that] as all good H2896 things H1697 are come H935 (QalPerf) upon you, which the Lord H3068 your God H430 promised H1696 (PielPerf) you; so shall the Lord H3068 bring H935 (HiphImpf) upon you all evil H7451 things, H1697 until he have destroyed H8045 (HiphInf) you from off this good H2896 land H127 which the Lord H3068 your God H430 hath given H5414 (QalPerf) you.

‘And it hath been, as there hath come upon you all the good thing which Jehovah your God hath spoken unto you, so doth Jehovah bring upon you the whole of the evil thing, till His destroying you from off this good ground which Jehovah your God hath given to you;

I brought your fathers out of Egypt: and you came to the sea. The Egyptians pursued your fathers with chariots and with horsemen to the Red Sea.

When they cried out to Yahweh, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea on them, and covered them; and your eyes saw what I did in Egypt. You lived in the wilderness many days.

“ ‘You went over the Jordan, and came to Jericho. The men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Girgashite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite; and I delivered them into your hand.

‘And ye pass over the Jordan, and come in unto Jericho, and fight against you do the possessors of Jericho-the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Girgashite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite-and I give them into your hand.

Adoni-Bezek said, “Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their big toes cut off, scavenged under my table. As I have done, so God^§ has done to me.” They brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.

the five lords of the Philistines, all the Canaanites, the Sidonians, and the Hivites who lived on Mount Lebanon, from Mount Baal Hermon to the entrance of Hamath.

Ehud came to him; and he was sitting by himself alone in the cool upper room. Ehud said, “I have a message from God to you.” He arose out of his seat.

After he had gone, his servants came and saw that the doors of the upper room were locked. They said, “Surely he is covering his feet^§ in the upper room.”

Then Jael, Heber’s wife, took a tent peg, and took a hammer in her hand, and went softly to him, and struck the pin into his temples, and it pierced through into the ground, for he was in a deep sleep; so he fainted and died.

And Jael wife of Heber taketh the pin of the tent, and taketh the hammer in her hand, and goeth unto him gently, and striketh the pin into his temples, and it fasteneth in the earth-and he hath been fast asleep, and is weary-and he dieth.

Behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, and said to him, “Come, and I will show you the man whom you seek.” He came to her; and behold, Sisera lay dead, and the tent peg was in his temples.

And, behold, as Barak H1301 pursued H7291 (QalActPtc) Sisera, H5516 Jael H3278 came out H3318 (QalImpf) to meet H7125 (QalInf) him, and said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, Come, H3212 (QalImpv) and I will shew H7200 (HiphImpf) thee the man H376 whom thou seekest. And lo, Barak is pursuing Sisera, and Jael cometh out to meet him, and saith to him, ‘Come, and I shew thee the man whom thou art seeking;’ and he cometh in unto her, and lo, Sisera is fallen-dead, and the pin in his temples.

“The kings came and fought, then the kings of Canaan fought at Taanach by the waters of Megiddo. They took no plunder of silver.

‘Curse Meroz,’ said Yahweh’s angel. ‘Curse bitterly its inhabitants, because they didn’t come to help Yahweh, to help Yahweh against the mighty.’

Curse Meroz-said a messenger of Jehovah, Cursing, curse ye its inhabitants, For they came not to the help of Jehovah, To the help of Jehovah among the mighty!

“Through the window she looked out, and cried: Sisera’s mother looked through the lattice. ‘Why is his chariot so long in coming? Why do the wheels of his chariots wait?’

Through the window she hath looked out- Yea, she crieth out-the mother of Sisera, Through the lattice: Wherefore is his chariot delaying to come? Wherefore tarried have the steps of his chariot?

They encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, until you come to Gaza. They left no sustenance in Israel, and no sheep, ox, or donkey.

and encamp against them, and destroy the increase of the land till thine entering Gaza; and they leave no sustenance in Israel, either sheep, or ox, or ass;

For they came up with their livestock and their tents. They came in as locusts for multitude. Both they and their camels were without number; and they came into the land to destroy it.

for they and their cattle come up, with their tents; they come in as the fulness of the locust for multitude, and of them and of their cattle there is no number, and they come into the land to destroy it.

Yahweh’s angel came and sat under the oak which was in Ophrah, that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite. His son Gideon was beating out wheat in the wine press, to hide it from the Midianites.

And there came H935 (QalImpf) an angel H4397 of the Lord, H3068 and sat H3427 (QalImpf) under an oak H424 which [was] in Ophrah, H6084 that [pertained] unto Joash H3101 the Abiezrite: H33 and his son H1121 Gideon H1439 threshed H2251 (QalActPtc) wheat H2406 by the winepress, H1660 to hide H5127 (HiphInf) [it] from H6440 the Midianites. And the messenger of Jehovah cometh and sitteth under the oak which is in Ophrah, which is to Joash the Abi-Ezrite, and Gideon his son is beating out wheat in the wine-press, to remove it from the presence of the Midianites;

Please don’t go away until I come to you, and bring out my present, and lay it before you.” He said, “I will wait until you come back.”

Move not, I pray Thee, from this, till my coming in unto Thee, and I have brought out my present, and put it before Thee;’ and he saith, ‘I-I do abide till thy return.’

Gideon went in and prepared a young goat and unleavened cakes of an ephah° of meal. He put the meat in a basket and he put the broth in a pot, and brought it out to him under the oak, and presented it.

And Gideon H1439 went in, H935 (QalPerf) and made ready H6213 (QalImpf) a kid, H5795 H1423 and unleavened cakes H4682 of an ephah H374 of flour: H7058 the flesh H1320 he put H7760 (QalPerf) in a basket, H5536 and he put H7760 (QalPerf) the broth H4839 in a pot, H6517 and brought [it] out H3318 (HiphImpf) unto him under the oak, H424 and presented H5066 (HiphImpf) [it].

And Gideon hath gone in, and prepareth a kid of the goats, and of an ephah of flour unleavened things; the flesh he hath put in a basket, and the broth he hath put in a pot, and he bringeth out unto Him, unto the place of the oak, and bringeth it nigh.

When Gideon had come, behold, there was a man telling a dream to his fellow. He said, “Behold, I dreamed a dream; and behold, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the camp of Midian, came to the tent, and struck it so that it fell, and turned it upside down, so that the tent lay flat.”

And Gideon cometh in, and lo, a man is recounting to his companion a dream, and saith, ‘Lo, a dream I have dreamed, and lo, a cake of barley-bread is turning itself over into the camp of Midian, and it cometh in unto the tent, and smiteth it, and it falleth, and turneth it upwards, and the tent hath fallen.’

He said to them, “Watch me, and do likewise. Behold, when I come to the outermost part of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so you shall do.

And he saith unto them, ‘Look at me, and thus do; and lo, I am coming into the extremity of the camp-and it hath been-as I do so ye do;

So Gideon and the hundred men who were with him came to the outermost part of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch, when they had but newly set the watch. Then they blew the trumpets and broke in pieces the pitchers that were in their hands.

So Gideon, H1439 and the hundred H3967 men H376 that [were] with him, came H935 (QalImpf) unto the outside H7097 of the camp H4264 in the beginning H7218 of the middle H8484 watch; H821 and they had but H389 newly H6965 (HiphInf) set H6965 (HiphPerf) the watch: H8104 (QalActPtc) and they blew H8628 (QalImpf) the trumpets, H7782 and brake H5310 (QalInf) the pitchers H3537 that [were] in their hands. And Gideon cometh-and the hundred men who are with him-into the extremity of the camp, at the beginning of the middle watch (it hath only just confirmed the watchmen), and they blow with trumpets-dashing in pieces also the pitchers which are in their hand;

They took the two princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb. They killed Oreb at Oreb’s rock, and Zeeb they killed at Zeeb’s wine press, as they pursued Midian. Then they brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon beyond the Jordan.

And they took H3920 (QalImpf) two H8147 princes H8269 of the Midianites, H4080 Oreb H6159 and Zeeb; H2062 and they slew H2026 (QalImpf) Oreb H6159 upon the rock H6697 Oreb, H6159 and Zeeb H2062 they slew H2026 (QalPerf) at the winepress H3342 of Zeeb, H2062 and pursued H7291 (QalImpf) Midian, H4080 and brought H935 (HiphPerf) the heads H7218 of Oreb H6159 and Zeeb H2062 to Gideon H1439 on the other side H5676 Jordan. and they capture two of the heads of Midian, Oreb, and Zeeb, and slay Oreb at the rock of Oreb, and Zeeb they have slain at the wine-vat of Zeeb, and they pursue unto Midian; and the heads of Oreb and Zeeb they have brought in unto Gideon beyond the Jordan.

Gideon came to the Jordan and passed over, he and the three hundred men who were with him, faint, yet pursuing.

And Gideon H1439 came H935 (QalImpf) to Jordan, H3383 [and] passed over, H5674 (QalActPtc) he, and the three H7969 hundred H3967 men H376 that [were] with him, faint, H5889 yet pursuing H7291 (QalActPtc) [them].

And Gideon cometh in unto the Jordan, passing over, he and the three hundred men who are with him-wearied, and pursuing,

He came to the men of Succoth, and said, “See Zebah and Zalmunna, concerning whom you taunted me, saying, ‘Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in your hand, that we should give bread to your men who are weary?’ ”

And he came H935 (QalImpf) unto the men H582 of Succoth, H5523 and said, H559 (QalImpf) Behold Zebah H2078 and Zalmunna, H6759 with whom ye did upbraid H2778 (PielPerf) me, saying, H559 (QalInf) [Are] the hands H3709 of Zebah H2078 and Zalmunna H6759 now in thine hand, H3027 that we should give H5414 (QalImpf) bread H3899 unto thy men H582 [that are] weary? H3287

And he cometh in unto the men of Succoth, and saith, ‘Lo Zebah and Zalmunna, with whom ye reproached me, saying, Is the hand of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thy hand that we give to thy men who are wearied bread?’
