World English Bible Classic
[1] Then he cried in my ears with a loud voice, saying, “Cause those who are in charge of the city to draw near, each man with his destroying weapon in his hand.” [2] Behold, six men came from the way of the upper gate, which lies toward the north, every man with his slaughter weapon in his hand. One man in the middle of them was clothed in linen, with a writer’s inkhorn by his side. They went in, and stood beside the bronze altar. [3] The glory of the God of Israel went up from the cherub, whereupon it was, to the threshold of the house; and he called to the man clothed in linen, who had the writer’s inkhorn by his side. [4] Yahweh said to him, “Go through the middle of the city, through the middle of Jerusalem, and set a mark on the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry over all the abominations that are done within it.” [5] To the others he said in my hearing, “Go through the city after him, and strike. Don’t let your eye spare, neither have pity. [6] Kill utterly the old man, the young man, the virgin, little children and women; but don’t come near any man on whom is the mark. Begin at my sanctuary.”Then they began at the old men who were before the house. [7] He said to them, “Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain. Go out!”They went out, and struck in the city. [8] While they were killing, and I was left, I fell on my face, and cried, and said, “Ah Lord Yahweh! Will you destroy all the residue of Israel in your pouring out of your wrath on Jerusalem?” [9] Then he said to me, “The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perversion; for they say, ‘Yahweh has forsaken the land, and Yahweh doesn’t see.’ [10] As for me also, my eye won’t spare, neither will I have pity, but I will bring their way on their head.” [11] Behold, the man clothed in linen, who had the inkhorn by his side, reported the matter, saying, “I have done as you have commanded me.”

[5] And to the othersH428 he saidH559(QalPerf) in mine hearing,H241 GoH5674(QalImpv) ye afterH310 him through the city,H5892 and smite:H5221(HiphImpv) let not your eyeH5869 spare,H2347(QalImpf) neither have ye pity:H2550(QalImpf) [6] SlayH2026(QalImpf) utterlyH4889 oldH2205 [and] young,H970 both maids,H1330 and little children,H2945 and women:H802 but come not nearH5066(QalImpf) any manH376 upon whom [is] the mark;H8420 and beginH2490(HiphImpf) at my sanctuary.H4720 Then they beganH2490(HiphImpf) at the ancientH2205 menH582 which [were] beforeH6440 the house.H1004 [7] And he saidH559(QalImpf) unto them, DefileH2930(PielImpv) the house,H1004 and fillH4390(PielImpv) the courtsH2691 with the slain:H2491 go ye forth.H3318(QalImpv) And they went forth,H3318(QalPerf) and slewH5221(HiphPerf) in the city.H5892 [8] And it came to pass, while they were slayingH5221(HiphInf) them, and I was left,H7604(NiphPtc) that I fellH5307(QalImpf) upon my face,H6440 and cried,H2199(QalImpf) and said,H559(QalImpf) AhH162 LordH136 God!H3069 wilt thou destroyH7843(HiphPtc) all the residueH7611 of IsraelH3478 in thy pouring outH8210(QalInf) of thy furyH2534 upon Jerusalem?H3389 [9] Then saidH559(QalImpf) he unto me, The iniquityH5771 of the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 and JudahH3063 [is] exceedingH3966 great,H1419 and the landH776 is fullH4390(NiphImpf) of blood,H1818 and the cityH5892 fullH4390(QalPerf) of perverseness:H4297 for they say,H559(QalPerf) The LordH3068 hath forsakenH5800(QalPerf) the earth,H776 and the LordH3068 seethH7200(QalActPtc) not. [10] And as for me also, mine eyeH5869 shall not spare,H2347(QalImpf) neither will I have pity,H2550(QalImpf) [but] I will recompenseH5414(QalPerf) their wayH1870 upon their head.H7218 [11] And, behold, the manH376 clothedH3847(QalPasPtc) with linen,H906 which [had] the inkhornH7083 by his side,H4975 reportedH7725(HiphPtc) the matter,H1697 saying,H559(QalInf) I have doneH6213(QalPerf) as thou hast commandedH6680(PielPerf) me.
