[1] Yahweh’s word came to me, saying, [2] “Son of man, set your face toward the mountains of Israel, and prophesy to them, [3] and say, ‘You mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord Yahweh! The Lord Yahweh says to the mountains and to the hills, to the watercourses and to the valleys: “Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword on you, and I will destroy your high places. [4] Your altars will become desolate, and your incense altars will be broken. I will cast down your slain men before your idols. [5] I will lay the dead bodies of the children of Israel before their idols. I will scatter your bones around your altars. [6] In all your dwelling places, the cities will be laid waste and the high places will be desolate, so that your altars may be laid waste and made desolate, and your idols may be broken and cease, and your incense altars may be cut down, and your works may be abolished. [7] The slain will fall among you, and you will know that I am Yahweh. [8] “ ‘ “Yet I will leave a remnant, in that you will have some that escape the sword among the nations, when you are scattered through the countries. [9] Those of you that escape will remember me among the nations where they are carried captive, how I have been broken with their lewd heart, which has departed from me, and with their eyes, which play the prostitute after their idols. Then they will loathe themselves in their own sight for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations. [10] They will know that I am Yahweh. I have not said in vain that I would do this evil to them.” ’ [11] “The Lord Yahweh says: ‘Strike with your hand, and stamp with your foot, and say, “Alas!”, because of all the evil abominations of the house of Israel; for they will fall by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence. [12] He who is far off will die of the pestilence. He who is near will fall by the sword. He who remains and is besieged will die by the famine. Thus I will accomplish my wrath on them. [13] You will know that I am Yahweh when their slain men are among their idols around their altars, on every high hill, on all the tops of the mountains, under every green tree, and under every thick oak—the places where they offered pleasant aroma to all their idols. [14] I will stretch out my hand on them and make the land desolate and waste, from the wilderness toward Diblah, throughout all their habitations. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.’ ”

[1] And the wordH1697 of the LordH3068 came unto me, saying,H559(QalInf) [2] SonH1121 of man,H120 setH7760(QalImpv) thy faceH6440 toward the mountainsH2022 of Israel,H3478 and prophesyH5012(NiphImpv) against them, [3] And say,H559(QalPerf) Ye mountainsH2022 of Israel,H3478 hearH8085(QalImpv) the wordH1697 of the LordH136 God;H3069 Thus saithH559(QalPerf) the LordH136 GodH3069 to the mountains,H2022 and to the hills,H1389 to the rivers,H650 and to the valleys;H1516 Behold, I, [even] I, will bringH935(HiphPtc) a swordH2719 upon you, and I will destroyH6(PielPerf) your high places.H1116 [4] And your altarsH4196 shall be desolate,H8074(NiphPerf) and your imagesH2553 shall be broken:H7665(NiphPerf) and I will cast downH5307(HiphPerf) your slainH2491 [men] beforeH6440 your idols.H1544 [5] And I will layH5414(QalPerf) the dead carcasesH6297 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 beforeH6440 their idols;H1544 and I will scatterH2219(PielPerf) your bonesH6106 round aboutH5439 your altars.H4196 [6] In all your dwellingplacesH4186 the citiesH5892 shall be laid waste,H2717(QalImpf) and the high placesH1116 shall be desolate;H3456(QalImpf) that your altarsH4196 may be laid wasteH2717(QalImpf) and made desolate,H816(QalImpf) and your idolsH1544 may be brokenH7665(NiphPerf) and cease,H7673(NiphPerf) and your imagesH2553 may be cut down,H1438(NiphPerf) and your worksH4639 may be abolished.H4229(NiphPerf) [7] And the slainH2491 shall fallH5307(QalPerf) in the midstH8432 of you, and ye shall knowH3045(QalPerf) that I [am] the Lord.H3068 [8] Yet will I leave a remnant,H3498(HiphPerf) that ye may have [some] that shall escapeH6412 the swordH2719 among the nations,H1471 when ye shall be scatteredH2219(NiphInf) through the countries.H776 [9] And they that escapeH6412 of you shall rememberH2142(QalPerf) me among the nationsH1471 whither they shall be carried captives,H7617(NiphPerf) because I am brokenH7665(NiphPerf) with their whorishH2181(QalActPtc) heart,H3820 which hath departedH5493(QalPerf) from me, and with their eyes,H5869 which go a whoringH2181(QalActPtc) afterH310 their idols:H1544 and they shall lotheH6962(NiphPerf) themselvesH6440 for the evilsH7451 which they have committedH6213(QalPerf) in all their abominations.H8441 [10] And they shall knowH3045(QalPerf) that I [am] the Lord,H3068 [and that] I have not saidH1696(PielPerf) in vainH2600 that I would doH6213(QalInf) this evilH7451 unto them. [11] Thus saithH559(QalPerf) the LordH136 God;H3069 SmiteH5221(HiphImpv) with thine hand,H3709 and stampH7554(QalImpv) with thy foot,H7272 and say,H559(QalImpv) AlasH253 for all the evilH7451 abominationsH8441 of the houseH1004 of Israel!H3478 for they shall fallH5307(QalImpf) by the sword,H2719 by the famine,H7458 and by the pestilence.H1698 [12] He that is far offH7350 shall dieH4191(QalImpf) of the pestilence;H1698 and he that is nearH7138 shall fallH5307(QalImpf) by the sword;H2719 and he that remainethH7604(NiphPtc) and is besiegedH5341(QalPasPtc) shall dieH4191(QalImpf) by the famine:H7458 thus will I accomplishH3615(PielPerf) my furyH2534 upon them. [13] Then shall ye knowH3045(QalPerf) that I [am] the Lord,H3068 when their slainH2491 [men] shall be amongH8432 their idolsH1544 round aboutH5439 their altars,H4196 upon every highH7311(QalActPtc) hill,H1389 in all the topsH7218 of the mountains,H2022 and under every greenH7488 tree,H6086 and under every thickH5687 oak,H424 the placeH4725 where they did offerH5414(QalPerf) sweetH5207 savourH7381 to all their idols.H1544 [14] So will I stretch outH5186(QalPerf) my handH3027 upon them, and makeH5414(QalPerf) the landH776 desolate,H8077 yea, more desolateH4923 than the wildernessH4057 toward Diblath,H1689 in all their habitations:H4186 and they shall knowH3045(QalPerf) that I [am] the Lord.H3068
