[1] You are righteous, Yahweh,
when I contend with you;
yet I would like to plead a case with you.
Why does the way of the wicked prosper?
Why are they all at ease who deal very treacherously?
[2] You have planted them. Yes, they have taken root.
They grow. Yes, they produce fruit.
You are near in their mouth,
and far from their heart.
[3] But you, Yahweh, know me.
You see me, and test my heart toward you.
Pull them out like sheep for the slaughter,
and prepare them for the day of slaughter.
[4] How long will the land mourn,
and the herbs of the whole country wither?
Because of the wickedness of those who dwell therein,
the animals and birds are consumed;
because they said,
“He won’t see our latter end.”
[5] “If you have run with the footmen,
and they have wearied you,
then how can you contend with horses?
Though in a land of peace you are secure,
yet how will you do in the pride of the Jordan?
[6] For even your brothers, and the house of your father,
even they have dealt treacherously with you!
Even they have cried aloud after you!
Don’t believe them,
though they speak beautiful words to you. [7] “I have forsaken my house.
I have cast off my heritage.
I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies.
[8] My heritage has become to me as a lion in the forest.
She has uttered her voice against me.
Therefore I have hated her.
[9] Is my heritage to me as a speckled bird of prey?
Are the birds of prey against her all around?
Go, assemble all the animals of the field.
Bring them to devour.
[10] Many shepherds have destroyed my vineyard.
They have trodden my portion under foot.
They have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.
[11] They have made it a desolation.
It mourns to me, being desolate.
The whole land is made desolate,
because no one cares.
[12] Destroyers have come on all the bare heights in the wilderness;
for the sword of Yahweh devours from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land.
No flesh has peace.
[13] They have sown wheat,
and have reaped thorns.
They have exhausted themselves,
and profit nothing.
You will be ashamed of your fruits,
because of Yahweh’s fierce anger.” [14] Yahweh says, “Concerning all my evil neighbors, who touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit: Behold, I will pluck them up from off their land, and will pluck up the house of Judah from among them. [15] It will happen that after I have plucked them up, I will return and have compassion on them. I will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land. [16] It will happen, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, ‘As Yahweh lives;’ even as they taught my people to swear by Baal, then they will be built up in the middle of my people. [17] But if they will not hear, then I will pluck up that nation, plucking up and destroying it,” says Yahweh.

King James Version
[1] RighteousH6662 [art] thou, O Lord,H3068 when I pleadH7378(QalImpf) with thee: yet let me talkH1696(PielImpf) with thee of [thy] judgments:H4941 Wherefore doth the wayH1870 of the wickedH7563 prosper?H6743(QalPerf) [wherefore] are all they happyH7951(QalPerf) that deal veryH899 treacherously?H898(QalActPtc) [2] Thou hast plantedH5193(QalPerf) them, yea, they have taken root:H8327(PoalPerf) they grow,H3212(QalImpf) yea, they bring forthH6213(QalPerf) fruit:H6529 thou [art] nearH7138 in their mouth,H6310 and far fromH7350 their reins.H3629 [3] But thou, O Lord,H3068 knowestH3045(QalPerf) me: thou hast seenH7200(QalImpf) me, and triedH974(QalPerf) mine heartH3820 toward thee: pull them outH5423(HiphImpv) like sheepH6629 for the slaughter,H2878 and prepareH6942(HiphImpv) them for the dayH3117 of slaughter.H2028 [4] How long shall the landH776 mourn,H56(QalImpf) and the herbsH6212 of every fieldH7704 wither,H3001(QalImpf) for the wickednessH7451 of them that dwellH3427(QalActPtc) therein? the beastsH929 are consumed,H5595(QalPerf) and the birds;H5775 because they said,H559(QalPerf) He shall not seeH7200(QalImpf) our last end.H319 [5] If thou hast runH7323(QalPerf) with the footmen,H7273 and they have weariedH3811(HiphImpf) thee, then how canst thou contendH8474(TiphImpf) with horses?H5483 and [if] in the landH776 of peace,H7965 [wherein] thou trustedst,H982(QalActPtc) [they wearied thee], then how wilt thou doH6213(QalImpf) in the swellingH1347 of Jordan?H3383 [6] For even thy brethren,H251 and the houseH1004 of thy father,H1 even they have dealt treacherouslyH898(QalPerf) with thee; yea, they have calledH7121(QalPerf) a multitudeH4392 afterH310 thee: believeH539(HiphImpf) them not, though they speakH1696(PielImpf) fair wordsH2896 unto thee. [7] I have forsakenH5800(QalPerf) mine house,H1004 I have leftH5203(QalPerf) mine heritage;H5159 I have givenH5414(QalPerf) the dearly belovedH3033 of my soulH5315 into the handH3709 of her enemies.H341(QalActPtc) [8] Mine heritageH5159 is unto me as a lionH738 in the forest;H3293 it crieth outH5414(QalPerf) against me: therefore have I hatedH8130(QalPerf) it. [9] Mine heritageH5159 [is] unto me [as] a speckledH6641 bird,H5861 the birdsH5861 round aboutH5439 [are] against her; comeH3212(QalImpv) ye, assembleH622(QalImpv) all the beastsH2416 of the field,H7704 comeH857(HiphImpv) to devour.H402 [10] ManyH7227 pastorsH7462(QalActPtc) have destroyedH7843(PielPerf) my vineyard,H3754 they have troddenH947 my portionH2513 under foot,H947(PolePerf) they have madeH5414(QalPerf) my pleasantH2532 portionH2513 a desolateH8077 wilderness.H4057 [11] They have madeH7760(QalPerf) it desolate,H8076 [and being] desolateH8077 it mournethH56(QalPerf) unto me; the whole landH776 is made desolate,H8074(NiphPerf) because no manH376 layethH7760(QalActPtc) [it] to heart.H3820 [12] The spoilersH7703(QalActPtc) are comeH935(QalPerf) upon all high placesH8205 through the wilderness:H4057 for the swordH2719 of the LordH3068 shall devourH398(QalActPtc) from the [one] endH7097 of the landH776 even to the [other] endH7097 of the land:H776 no fleshH1320 shall have peace.H7965 [13] They have sownH2232(QalPerf) wheat,H2406 but shall reapH7114(QalPerf) thorns:H6975 they have put themselves to pain,H2470(NiphPerf) [but] shall not profit:H3276(HiphImpf) and they shall be ashamedH954(QalPerf) of your revenuesH8393 because of the fierceH2740 angerH639 of the Lord.H3068 [14] Thus saithH559(QalPerf) the LordH3068 against all mine evilH7451 neighbours,H7934 that touchH5060(QalActPtc) the inheritanceH5159 which I have caused my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478 to inherit;H5157(HiphPerf) Behold, I will pluck them outH5428(QalActPtc) of their land,H127 and pluck outH5428(QalImpf) the houseH1004 of JudahH3063 from amongH8432 them. [15] And it shall come to pass, afterH310 that I have plucked them outH5428(QalInf) I will return,H7725(QalImpf) and have compassionH7355(PielPerf) on them, and will bring them again,H7725(HiphPerf) every manH376 to his heritage,H5159 and every manH376 to his land.H776 [16] And it shall come to pass, if they will diligentlyH3925(QalInf) learnH3925(QalImpf) the waysH1870 of my people,H5971 to swearH7650(NiphInf) by my name,H8034 The LordH3068 liveth;H2416 as they taughtH3925(PielPerf) my peopleH5971 to swearH7650(NiphInf) by Baal;H1168 then shall they be builtH1129(NiphPerf) in the midstH8432 of my people.H5971 [17] But if they will not obey,H8085(QalImpf) I will utterlyH5428(QalInf) pluck upH5428(QalPerf) and destroyH6(PielInf) that nation,H1471 saithH5002(QalPasPtc) the Lord.H3068
