[1] The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying, [2] “Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, ‘Write all the words that I have spoken to you in a book. [3] For, behold, the days come,’ says Yahweh, ‘that I will reverse the captivity of my people Israel and Judah,’ says Yahweh. ‘I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they will possess it.’ ” [4] These are the words that Yahweh spoke concerning Israel and concerning Judah. [5] For Yahweh says:
“We have heard a voice of trembling;
a voice of fear, and not of peace.
[6] Ask now, and see whether a man travails with child.
Why do I see every man with his hands on his waist, as a woman in travail,
and all faces are turned pale?
[7] Alas, for that day is great, so that none is like it!
It is even the time of Jacob’s trouble;
but he will be saved out of it.
[8] It will come to pass in that day, says Yahweh of Armies, that I will break his yoke from off your neck,
and will burst your bonds.
Strangers will no more make them their bondservants;
[9] but they will serve Yahweh their God,
and David their king,
whom I will raise up to them.
[10] Therefore don’t be afraid, O Jacob my servant, says Yahweh.
Don’t be dismayed, Israel.
For, behold, I will save you from afar,
and save your offspring from the land of their captivity.
Jacob will return,
and will be quiet and at ease.
No one will make him afraid.
[11] For I am with you, says Yahweh, to save you;
for I will make a full end of all the nations where I have scattered you,
but I will not make a full end of you;
but I will correct you in measure,
and will in no way leave you unpunished.”
[12] For Yahweh says,
“Your hurt is incurable.
Your wound is grievous.
[13] There is no one to plead your cause,
that you may be bound up.
You have no healing medicines.
[14] All your lovers have forgotten you.
They don’t seek you.
For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy,
with the chastisement of a cruel one,
for the greatness of your iniquity,
because your sins were increased.
[15] Why do you cry over your injury?
Your pain is incurable.
For the greatness of your iniquity,
because your sins have increased,
I have done these things to you.
[16] Therefore all those who devour you will be devoured.
All your adversaries, everyone of them, will go into captivity.
Those who plunder you will be plunder.
I will make all who prey on you become prey.
[17] For I will restore health to you,
and I will heal you of your wounds,” says Yahweh,
“because they have called you an outcast,
saying, ‘It is Zion, whom no man seeks after.’ ”
[18] Yahweh says:
“Behold, I will reverse the captivity of Jacob’s tents,
and have compassion on his dwelling places.
The city will be built on its own hill,
and the palace will be inhabited in its own place.
[19] Thanksgiving will proceed out of them
with the voice of those who make merry.
I will multiply them,
and they will not be few;
I will also glorify them,
and they will not be small.
[20] Their children also will be as before,
and their congregation will be established before me.
I will punish all who oppress them.
[21] Their prince will be one of them,
and their ruler will proceed from among them.
I will cause him to draw near,
and he will approach me;
for who is he who has had boldness to approach me?” says Yahweh.
[22] “You shall be my people,
and I will be your God.
[23] Behold, Yahweh’s storm, his wrath, has gone out,
a sweeping storm;
it will burst on the head of the wicked.
[24] The fierce anger of Yahweh will not return until he has accomplished,
and until he has performed the intentions of his heart.
In the latter days you will understand it.”

[1] The wordH1697 that came to JeremiahH3414 from the Lord,H3068 saying,H559(QalInf) [2] Thus speakethH559(QalPerf) the LordH3068 GodH430 of Israel,H3478 saying,H559(QalInf) WriteH3789(QalImpv) thee all the wordsH1697 that I have spokenH1696(PielPerf) unto thee in a book.H5612 [3] For, lo, the daysH3117 come,H935(QalActPtc) saithH5002(QalPasPtc) the Lord,H3068 that I will bring againH7725(QalPerf) the captivityH7622 of my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478 and Judah,H3063 saithH559(QalPerf) the Lord:H3068 and I will cause them to returnH7725(HiphPerf) to the landH776 that I gaveH5414(QalPerf) to their fathers,H1 and they shall possessH3423(QalPerf) it. [4] And these [are] the wordsH1697 that the LordH3068 spakeH1696(PielPerf) concerning IsraelH3478 and concerning Judah.H3063 [5] For thus saithH559(QalPerf) the Lord;H3068 We have heardH8085(QalPerf) a voiceH6963 of trembling,H2731 of fear,H6343 and not of peace.H7965 [6] AskH7592(QalImpv) ye now, and seeH7200(QalImpv) whether a manH2145 doth travail with child?H3205(QalActPtc) wherefore do I seeH7200(QalPerf) every manH1397 with his handsH3027 on his loins,H2504 as a woman in travail,H3205(QalActPtc) and all facesH6440 are turnedH2015(NiphPerf) into paleness?H3420 [7] Alas!H1945 for that dayH3117 [is] great,H1419 so thatH369 none [is] like it: it [is] even the timeH6256 of Jacob’sH3290 trouble;H6869 but he shall be savedH3467(NiphImpf) out of it. [8] For it shall come to pass in that day,H3117 saithH5002(QalPasPtc) the LordH3068 of hosts,H6635 [that] I will breakH7665(QalImpf) his yokeH5923 from off thy neck,H6677 and will burstH5423(PielImpf) thy bonds,H4147 and strangersH2114(QalPtc) shall no more serveH5647(QalImpf) themselves of him: [9] But they shall serveH5647(QalPerf) the LordH3068 their God,H430 and DavidH1732 their king,H4428 whom I will raise upH6965(HiphImpf) unto them. [10] Therefore fearH3372(QalImpf) thou not, O my servantH5650 Jacob,H3290 saithH5002(QalPasPtc) the Lord;H3068 neither be dismayed,H2865(NiphImpf) O Israel:H3478 for, lo, I will saveH3467(HiphPtc) thee from afar,H7350 and thy seedH2233 from the landH776 of their captivity;H7628 and JacobH3290 shall return,H7725(QalPerf) and shall be in rest,H8252(QalPerf) and be quiet,H7599(PilePerf) and none shall make [him] afraid.H2729(HiphPtc) [11] For I [am] with thee, saithH5002(QalPasPtc) the Lord,H3068 to saveH3467(HiphInf) thee: though I makeH6213(QalImpf) a full endH3617 of all nationsH1471 whither I have scatteredH6327(HiphPerf) thee, yet will I not makeH6213(QalImpf) a full endH3617 of thee: but I will correctH3256(PielPerf) thee in measure,H4941 and will not leave thee altogetherH5352(PielInf) unpunished.H5352(PielImpf) [12] For thus saithH559(QalPerf) the Lord,H3068 Thy bruiseH7667 [is] incurable,H605(QalPasPtc) [and] thy woundH4347 [is] grievous.H2470(NiphPtc) [13] [There is] none to pleadH1777(QalActPtc) thy cause,H1779 that thou mayest be bound up:H4205 thou hast no healingH8585 medicines.H7499 [14] All thy loversH157(PielPtc) have forgottenH7911(QalPerf) thee; they seekH1875(QalImpf) thee not; for I have woundedH5221(HiphPerf) thee with the woundH4347 of an enemy,H341(QalActPtc) with the chastisementH4148 of a cruel one,H394 for the multitudeH7230 of thine iniquity;H5771 [because] thy sinsH2403 were increased.H6105(QalPerf) [15] Why criestH2199(QalImpf) thou for thine affliction?H7667 thy sorrowH4341 [is] incurableH605(QalPasPtc) for the multitudeH7230 of thine iniquity:H5771 [because] thy sinsH2403 were increased,H6105(QalPerf) I have doneH6213(QalPerf) these things unto thee. [16] Therefore all they that devourH398(QalActPtc) thee shall be devoured;H398(NiphImpf) and all thine adversaries,H6862 every one of them, shall goH3212(QalImpf) into captivity;H7628 and they that spoilH7601(QalActPtc/Qere) thee shall be a spoil,H4933 and all that preyH962(QalActPtc) upon thee will I giveH5414(QalImpf) for a prey.H957 [17] For I will restoreH5927(HiphImpf) healthH724 unto thee, and I will healH7495(QalImpf) thee of thy wounds,H4347 saithH5002(QalPasPtc) the Lord;H3068 because they calledH7121(QalPerf) thee an Outcast,H5080(NiphPtc) [saying], This [is] Zion,H6726 whom no man seeketh after.H1875(QalActPtc) [18] Thus saithH559(QalPerf) the Lord;H3068 Behold, I will bring againH7725(QalActPtc) the captivityH7622 of Jacob’sH3290 tents,H168 and have mercyH7355(PielImpf) on his dwellingplaces;H4908 and the cityH5892 shall be buildedH1129(NiphPerf) upon her own heap,H8510 and the palaceH759 shall remainH3427(QalImpf) after the mannerH4941 thereof. [19] And out of them shall proceedH3318(QalPerf) thanksgivingH8426 and the voiceH6963 of them that make merry:H7832(PielPtc) and I will multiplyH7235(HiphPerf) them, and they shall not be few;H4591(QalImpf) I will also glorifyH3513(HiphPerf) them, and they shall not be small.H6819(QalImpf) [20] Their childrenH1121 also shall be as aforetime,H6924 and their congregationH5712 shall be establishedH3559(NiphImpf) beforeH6440 me, and I will punishH6485(QalPerf) all that oppressH3905(QalPtc) them. [21] And their noblesH117 shall be of themselves, and their governorH4910(QalActPtc) shall proceedH3318(QalImpf) from the midstH7130 of them; and I will cause him to draw near,H7126(HiphPerf) and he shall approachH5066(NiphPerf) unto me: for who [is] this that engagedH6148(QalPerf) his heartH3820 to approachH5066(QalInf) unto me? saithH5002(QalPasPtc) the Lord.H3068 [22] And ye shall be my people,H5971 and I will be your God.H430 [23] Behold, the whirlwindH5591 of the LordH3068 goeth forthH3318(QalPerf) with fury,H2534 a continuingH1641(HipoPtc) whirlwind:H5591 it shall fall with painH2342(QalImpf) upon the headH7218 of the wicked.H7563 [24] The fierceH2740 angerH639 of the LordH3068 shall not return,H7725(QalImpf) until he have doneH6213(QalInf) [it], and until he have performedH6965(HiphInf) the intentsH4209 of his heart:H3820 in the latterH319 daysH3117 ye shall considerH995(HiplImpf) it.
