[1] Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh, and tell him, ‘This is what Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, says: “Let my people go, that they may serve me. [2] For if you refuse to let them go, and hold them still, [3] behold, Yahweh’s hand is on your livestock which are in the field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the herds, and on the flocks with a very grievous pestilence. [4] Yahweh will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt; and nothing shall die of all that belongs to the children of Israel.” ’ ” [5] Yahweh appointed a set time, saying, “Tomorrow Yahweh shall do this thing in the land.” [6] Yahweh did that thing on the next day; and all the livestock of Egypt died, but of the livestock of the children of Israel, not one died. [7] Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not so much as one of the livestock of the Israelites dead. But the heart of Pharaoh was stubborn, and he didn’t let the people go. [8] Yahweh said to Moses and to Aaron, “Take handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the sky in the sight of Pharaoh. [9] It shall become small dust over all the land of Egypt, and shall be boils and blisters breaking out on man and on animal, throughout all the land of Egypt.” [10] They took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward the sky; and it became boils and blisters breaking out on man and on animal. [11] The magicians couldn’t stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boils were on the magicians and on all the Egyptians. [12] Yahweh hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he didn’t listen to them, as Yahweh had spoken to Moses. [13] Yahweh said to Moses, “Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and tell him, ‘This is what Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, says: “Let my people go, that they may serve me. [14] For this time I will send all my plagues against your heart, against your officials, and against your people; that you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth. [15] For now I would have stretched out my hand, and struck you and your people with pestilence, and you would have been cut off from the earth; [16] but indeed for this cause I have made you stand: to show you my power, and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth, [17] because you still exalt yourself against my people, that you won’t let them go. [18] Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as has not been in Egypt since the day it was founded even until now. [19] Now therefore command that all of your livestock and all that you have in the field be brought into shelter. The hail will come down on every man and animal that is found in the field, and isn’t brought home, and they will die.” ’ ” [20] Those who feared Yahweh’s word among the servants of Pharaoh made their servants and their livestock flee into the houses. [21] Whoever didn’t respect Yahweh’s word left his servants and his livestock in the field. [22] Yahweh said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, on man, and on animal, and on every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.” [23] Moses stretched out his rod toward the heavens, and Yahweh sent thunder and hail; and lightning flashed down to the earth. Yahweh rained hail on the land of Egypt. [24] So there was very severe hail, and lightning mixed with the hail, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. [25] The hail struck throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and animal; and the hail struck every herb of the field, and broke every tree of the field. [26] Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, there was no hail. [27] Pharaoh sent and called for Moses and Aaron, and said to them, “I have sinned this time. Yahweh is righteous, and I and my people are wicked. [28] Pray to Yahweh; for there has been enough of mighty thunderings and hail. I will let you go, and you shall stay no longer.” [29] Moses said to him, “As soon as I have gone out of the city, I will spread out my hands to Yahweh. The thunders shall cease, and there will not be any more hail; that you may know that the earth is Yahweh’s. [30] But as for you and your servants, I know that you don’t yet fear Yahweh God.” [31] The flax and the barley were struck, for the barley had ripened and the flax was blooming. [32] But the wheat and the spelt were not struck, for they had not grown up. [33] Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread out his hands to Yahweh; and the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured on the earth. [34] When Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders had ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his servants. [35] The heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he didn’t let the children of Israel go, just as Yahweh had spoken through Moses.

[2] For if thou refuseH3986 to let [them] go,H7971(PielInf) and wilt holdH2388(HiphPtc) them still, [3] Behold, the handH3027 of the LordH3068 isH1961(QalActPtc) upon thy cattleH4735 which [is] in the field,H7704 upon the horses,H5483 upon the asses,H2543 upon the camels,H1581 upon the oxen,H1241 and upon the sheep:H6629 [there shall be] a veryH3966 grievousH3515 murrain.H1698 [4] And the LordH3068 shall severH6395(HiphPerf) between the cattleH4735 of IsraelH3478 and the cattleH4735 of Egypt:H4714 and there shall nothingH1697 dieH4191(QalImpf) of all [that is] the children’sH1121 of Israel.H3478 [5] And the LordH3068 appointedH7760(QalImpf) a set time,H4150 saying,H559(QalInf) To morrowH4279 the LordH3068 shall doH6213(QalImpf) this thingH1697 in the land.H776 [6] And the LordH3068 didH6213(QalImpf) that thingH1697 on the morrow,H4283 and all the cattleH4735 of EgyptH4714 died:H4191(QalImpf) but of the cattleH4735 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 diedH4191(QalPerf) not one.H259 [7] And PharaohH6547 sent,H7971(QalImpf) and, behold, there was not oneH259 of the cattleH4735 of the IsraelitesH3478 dead.H4191(QalPerf) And the heartH3820 of PharaohH6547 was hardened,H3513(QalImpf) and he did not let the peopleH5971 go.H7971(PielPerf) [8] And the LordH3068 saidH559(QalImpf) unto MosesH4872 and unto Aaron,H175 TakeH3947(QalImpv) to you handfulsH2651 of ashesH6368 of the furnace,H3536 and let MosesH4872 sprinkleH2236(QalPerf) it toward the heavenH8064 in the sightH5869 of Pharaoh.H6547 [9] And it shall become small dustH80 in all the landH776 of Egypt,H4714 and shall be a boilH7822 breaking forthH6524(QalActPtc) [with] blainsH76 upon man,H120 and upon beast,H929 throughout all the landH776 of Egypt.H4714 [10] And they tookH3947(QalImpf) ashesH6368 of the furnace,H3536 and stoodH5975(QalImpf) beforeH6440 Pharaoh;H6547 and MosesH4872 sprinkledH2236(QalImpf) it up toward heaven;H8064 and it became a boilH7822 breaking forthH6524(QalActPtc) [with] blainsH76 upon man,H120 and upon beast.H929 [11] And the magiciansH2748 couldH3201(QalPerf) not standH5975(QalInf) beforeH6440 MosesH4872 becauseH6440 of the boils;H7822 for the boilH7822 was upon the magicians,H2748 and upon all the Egyptians.H4714 [12] And the LordH3068 hardenedH2388(PielImpf) the heartH3820 of Pharaoh,H6547 and he hearkenedH8085(QalPerf) not unto them; as the LordH3068 had spokenH1696(PielPerf) unto Moses.H4872 [13] And the LordH3068 saidH559(QalImpf) unto Moses,H4872 Rise up earlyH7925(HiphImpv) in the morning,H1242 and standH3320(HithImpv) beforeH6440 Pharaoh,H6547 and sayH559(QalPerf) unto him, Thus saithH559(QalPerf) the LordH3068 GodH430 of the Hebrews,H5680 Let my peopleH5971 go,H7971(PielImpv) that they may serveH5647(QalImpf) me. [14] For I will at this timeH6471 sendH7971(QalActPtc) all my plaguesH4046 upon thine heart,H3820 and upon thy servants,H5650 and upon thy people;H5971 that thou mayest knowH3045(QalImpf) that [there is] none like me in all the earth.H776 [15] For now I will stretch outH7971(QalPerf) my hand,H3027 that I may smiteH5221(HiphImpf) thee and thy peopleH5971 with pestilence;H1698 and thou shalt be cut offH3582(NiphImpf) from the earth.H776 [16] And in veryH199 deedH5668 for this [cause] have I raised thee up,H5975(HiphPerf) for to shewH7200(HiphInf) [in] thee my power;H3581 and that my nameH8034 may be declaredH5608(PielInf) throughout all the earth.H776 [17] As yet exaltestH5549(HipoPtc) thou thyself against my people,H5971 that thou wilt not let them go?H7971(PielInf) [18] Behold, to morrowH4279 about this timeH6256 I will cause it to rainH4305(HiphPtc) a veryH3966 grievousH3515 hail,H1259 such as hath not beenH3644 in EgyptH4714 sinceH4480 the foundationH3117 thereof even until now. [19] SendH7971(QalImpv) therefore now, [and] gatherH5756(HiphImpv) thy cattle,H4735 and all that thou hast in the field;H7704 [for upon] every manH120 and beastH929 which shall be foundH4672(NiphImpf) in the field,H7704 and shall not be broughtH622(NiphImpf) home,H1004 the hailH1259 shall come downH3381(QalPerf) upon them, and they shall die.H4191(QalPerf) [20] He that fearedH3373 the wordH1697 of the LordH3068 among the servantsH5650 of PharaohH6547 made his servantsH5650 and his cattleH4735 fleeH5127(HiphPerf) into the houses:H1004 [21] And he that regardedH7760(QalPerf) not the wordH1697 of the LordH3068 leftH5800(QalImpf) his servantsH5650 and his cattleH4735 in the field.H7704 [22] And the LordH3068 saidH559(QalImpf) unto Moses,H4872 Stretch forthH5186(QalImpv) thine handH3027 toward heaven,H8064 that there may be hailH1259 in all the landH776 of Egypt,H4714 upon man,H120 and upon beast,H929 and upon every herbH6212 of the field,H7704 throughout the landH776 of Egypt.H4714 [23] And MosesH4872 stretched forthH5186(QalImpf) his rodH4294 toward heaven:H8064 and the LordH3068 sentH5414(QalPerf) thunderH6963 and hail,H1259 and the fireH784 ran alongH1980(QalImpf) upon the ground;H776 and the LordH3068 rainedH4305(HiphImpf) hailH1259 upon the landH776 of Egypt.H4714 [24] So there was hail,H1259 and fireH784 mingledH8432 with the hail,H1259 veryH3966 grievous,H3515 such as there was noneH3808 like it in all the landH776 of EgyptH4714 since it became a nation.H1471 [25] And the hailH1259 smoteH5221(HiphImpf) throughout all the landH776 of EgyptH4714 all that [was] in the field,H7704 both manH120 and beast;H929 and the hailH1259 smoteH5221(HiphPerf) every herbH6212 of the field,H7704 and brakeH7665(PielPerf) every treeH6086 of the field.H7704 [26] Only in the landH776 of Goshen,H1657 where the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 [were], was there no hail.H1259 [27] And PharaohH6547 sent,H7971(QalImpf) and calledH7121(QalImpf) for MosesH4872 and Aaron,H175 and saidH559(QalImpf) unto them, I have sinnedH2398(QalPerf) this time:H6471 the LordH3068 [is] righteous,H6662 and I and my peopleH5971 [are] wicked.H7563 [28] IntreatH6279(HiphImpv) the LordH3068 (for [it is] enoughH7227) that there be no [more] mightyH430 thunderingsH6963 and hail;H1259 and I will let you go,H7971(PielImpf) and ye shall stayH5975(QalInf) no longer.H3254(HiphImpf) [29] And MosesH4872 saidH559(QalImpf) unto him, As soon as I am gone outH3318(QalInf) of the city,H5892 I will spread abroadH6566(QalImpf) my handsH3709 unto the Lord;H3068 [and] the thunderH6963 shall cease,H2308(QalImpf) neither shall there be any more hail;H1259 that thou mayest knowH3045(QalImpf) how that the earthH776 [is] the Lord’s.H3068 [30] But as for thee and thy servants,H5650 I knowH3045(QalPerf) that ye will not yet fearH3372(QalImpf) the LordH3068 God.H430 [31] And the flaxH6594 and the barleyH8184 was smitten:H5221(PualPerf) for the barleyH8184 [was] in the ear,H24 and the flaxH6594 [was] bolled.H1392 [32] But the wheatH2406 and the rieH3698 were not smitten:H5221(PualPerf) for theyH2007 [were] not grown up.H648 [33] And MosesH4872 went outH3318(QalImpf) of the cityH5892 from Pharaoh,H6547 and spread abroadH6566(QalImpf) his handsH3709 unto the Lord:H3068 and the thundersH6963 and hailH1259 ceased,H2308(QalImpf) and the rainH4306 was not pouredH5413(NiphPerf) upon the earth.H776 [34] And when PharaohH6547 sawH7200(QalImpf) that the rainH4306 and the hailH1259 and the thundersH6963 were ceased,H2308(QalPerf) he sinnedH2398(QalInf) yet more,H3254(HiphImpf) and hardenedH3513(HiphImpf) his heart,H3820 he and his servants.H5650 [35] And the heartH3820 of PharaohH6547 was hardened,H2388(QalImpf) neither would he let the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 go;H7971(PielPerf) as the LordH3068 had spokenH1696(PielPerf) byH3027 Moses.H4872
