World English Bible Classic
[1] Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to Yahweh, and said,
“I will sing to Yahweh, for he has triumphed gloriously.
He has thrown the horse and his rider into the sea.
[2] Yah is my strength and song.
He has become my salvation.
This is my God, and I will praise him;
my father’s God, and I will exalt him.
[3] Yahweh is a man of war.
Yahweh is his name.
[4] He has cast Pharaoh’s chariots and his army into the sea.
His chosen captains are sunk in the Red Sea.
[5] The deeps cover them.
They went down into the depths like a stone.
[6] Your right hand, Yahweh, is glorious in power.
Your right hand, Yahweh, dashes the enemy in pieces.
[7] In the greatness of your excellency, you overthrow those who rise up against you.
You send out your wrath. It consumes them as stubble.
[8] With the blast of your nostrils, the waters were piled up.
The floods stood upright as a heap.
The deeps were congealed in the heart of the sea.
[9] The enemy said, ‘I will pursue. I will overtake. I will divide the plunder.
My desire will be satisfied on them.
I will draw my sword. My hand will destroy them.’
[10] You blew with your wind.
The sea covered them.
They sank like lead in the mighty waters.
[11] Who is like you, Yahweh, among the gods?
Who is like you, glorious in holiness,
fearful in praises, doing wonders?
[12] You stretched out your right hand.
The earth swallowed them.
[13] “You, in your loving kindness, have led the people that you have redeemed.
You have guided them in your strength to your holy habitation.
[14] The peoples have heard.
They tremble.
Pangs have taken hold of the inhabitants of Philistia.
[15] Then the chiefs of Edom were dismayed.
Trembling takes hold of the mighty men of Moab.
All the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away.
[16] Terror and dread falls on them.
By the greatness of your arm they are as still as a stone,
until your people pass over, Yahweh,
until the people you have purchased pass over.
[17] You will bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of your inheritance,
the place, Yahweh, which you have made for yourself to dwell in:
the sanctuary, Lord, which your hands have established.
[18] Yahweh will reign forever and ever.” [19] For the horses of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and Yahweh brought back the waters of the sea on them; but the children of Israel walked on dry land in the middle of the sea. [20] Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand; and all the women went out after her with tambourines and with dances. [21] Miriam answered them,
“Sing to Yahweh, for he has triumphed gloriously.
He has thrown the horse and his rider into the sea.” [22] Moses led Israel onward from the Red Sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water. [23] When they came to Marah, they couldn’t drink from the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore its name was called Marah.ⓘ [24] The people murmured against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” [25] Then he cried to Yahweh. Yahweh showed him a tree, and he threw it into the waters, and the waters were made sweet. There he made a statute and an ordinance for them, and there he tested them. [26] He said, “If you will diligently listen to Yahweh your God’s voice, and will do that which is right in his eyes, and will pay attention to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I am Yahweh who heals you.” [27] They came to Elim, where there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees. They encamped there by the waters.

[4] Pharaoh’s H6547 chariots H4818 and his host H2428 hath he cast H3384 (QalPerf) into the sea: H3220
His chosen H4005 captains H7991 also are drowned H2883 (PualPerf) in the Red H5488 sea. H3220
[5] The depths H8415 have covered H3680 (PielImpf) them:
They sank H3381 (QalPerf) into the bottom H4688 as H3644 a stone. H68
[6] Thy right hand, H3225 O Lord, H3068 is become glorious H142 (NiphPtc) in power: H3581
Thy right hand, H3225 O Lord, H3068 hath dashed in pieces H7492 (QalImpf) the enemy. H341 (QalActPtc)
[7] And in the greatness H7230 of thine excellency H1347 thou hast overthrown H2040 (QalImpf) them that rose up against H6965 (QalPtc) thee:
Thou sentest forth H7971 (PielImpf) thy wrath, H2740 which consumed H398 (QalImpf) them as stubble. H7179
[8] And with the blast H7307 of thy nostrils H639 the waters H4325 were gathered together, H6192 (NiphPerf)

[9] The enemy H341 (QalActPtc) said, H559 (QalPerf)

[10] Thou didst blow H5398 (QalPerf) with thy wind, H7307 the sea H3220 covered H3680 (PielPerf) them:
They sank H6749 (QalPerf) as lead H5777 in the mighty H117 waters. H4325

Who is like thee, glorious H142 (NiphPtc) in holiness, H6944
Fearful H3372 (NiphPtc) in praises, H8416 doing H6213 (QalActPtc) wonders? H6382
[12] Thou stretchedst out H5186 (QalPerf) thy right hand, H3225
The earth H776 swallowed H1104 (QalImpf) them.
[13] Thou in thy mercy H2617 hast led forth H5148 (QalPerf) the people H5971 which H2098 thou hast redeemed: H1350 (QalPerf)
Thou hast guided H5095 (PielPerf) them in thy strength H5797 unto thy holy H6944 habitation. H5116
[14] The people H5971 shall hear, H8085 (QalPerf) and be afraid: H7264 (QalImpf)
Sorrow H2427 shall take hold H270 (QalPerf) on the inhabitants H3427 (QalActPtc) of Palestina. H6429
[15] Then H227 the dukes H441 of Edom H123 shall be amazed; H926 (NiphPerf)
The mighty men H352 of Moab, H4124 trembling H7461 shall take hold H270 (QalImpf) upon them;
All the inhabitants H3427 (QalActPtc) of Canaan H3667 shall melt away. H4127 (NiphPerf)
[16] Fear H367 and dread H6343 shall fall H5307 (QalImpf) upon them;
By the greatness H1419 of thine arm H2220 they shall be as still H1826 (QalImpf) as a stone; H68
Till thy people H5971 pass over, H5674 (QalImpf) O Lord, H3068
Till the people H5971 pass over, H5674 (QalImpf) which H2098 thou hast purchased. H7069 (QalPerf)
[17] Thou shalt bring H935 (HiphImpf) them in, and plant H5193 (QalImpf) them in the mountain H2022 of thine inheritance, H5159
In the place, H4349 O Lord, H3068 which thou hast made H6466 (QalPerf) for thee to dwell in, H3427 (QalInf)
In the sanctuary, H4720 O Lord, H136 which thy hands H3027 have established. H3559 (PolePerf)
[18] The Lord H3068 shall reign H4427 (QalImpf) for ever H5769 and ever. H5703
[19] For the horse H5483 of Pharaoh H6547 went in H935 (QalPerf) with his chariots H7393 and with his horsemen H6571 into the sea, H3220 and the Lord H3068 brought again H7725 (HiphImpf) the waters H4325 of the sea H3220 upon them; but the children H1121 of Israel H3478 went H1980 (QalPerf) on dry H3004 land in the midst H8432 of the sea. H3220 [20] And Miriam H4813 the prophetess, H5031 the sister H269 of Aaron, H175 took H3947 (QalImpf) a timbrel H8596 in her hand; H3027 and all the women H802 went out H3318 (QalImpf) after H310 her with timbrels H8596 and with dances. H4246 [21] And Miriam H4813 answered H6030 (QalImpf) them,
Sing H7891 (QalImpv) ye to the Lord, H3068 for he hath triumphed H1342 (QalPerf) gloriously: H1342 (QalInf)
The horse H5483 and his rider H7392 (QalActPtc) hath he thrown H7411 (QalPerf) into the sea. H3220
[22] So Moses H4872 brought H5265 (HiphImpf) Israel H3478 from the Red H5488 sea, H3220 and they went out H3318 (QalImpf) into the wilderness H4057 of Shur; H7793 and they went H3212 (QalImpf) three H7969 days H3117 in the wilderness, H4057 and found H4672 (QalPerf) no water. H4325 [23] And when they came H935 (QalImpf) to Marah, H4785ⓘ they could H3201 (QalPerf) not drink H8354 (QalInf) of the waters H4325 of Marah, H4785 for they were bitter: H4751 therefore the name H8034 of it was called H7121 (QalPerf) Marah. H4785 [24] And the people H5971 murmured H3885 (NiphImpf) against Moses, H4872 saying, H559 (QalInf) What shall we drink? H8354 (QalImpf) [25] And he cried H6817 (QalImpf) unto the Lord; H3068 and the Lord H3068 shewed H3384 (HiphImpf) him a tree, H6086 which when he had cast H7993 (HiphImpf) into the waters, H4325 the waters H4325 were made sweet: H4985 (QalImpf) there he made H7760 (QalPerf) for them a statute H2706 and an ordinance, H4941 and there he proved H5254 (PielPerf) them, [26] and said, H559 (QalImpf) If thou wilt diligently H8085 (QalInf) hearken H8085 (QalImpf) to the voice H6963 of the Lord H3068 thy God, H430 and wilt do H6213 (QalImpf) that which is right H3477 in his sight, H5869 and wilt give ear H238 (HiphPerf) to his commandments, H4687 and keep H8104 (QalPerf) all his statutes, H2706 I will put H7760 (QalImpf) none of these diseases H4245 upon thee, which I have brought H7760 (QalPerf) upon the Egyptians: H4714 for I am the Lord H3068 that healeth H7495 (QalActPtc) thee. [27] And they came H935 (QalImpf) to Elim, H362 where were twelve H8147 wells H5869 of water, H4325 and threescore and ten H7657 palm trees: H8558 and they encamped H2583 (QalImpf) there by the waters.
