[1] At that time, Jesus went on the Sabbath day through the grain fields. His disciples were hungry and began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. [2] But the Pharisees, when they saw it, said to him, “Behold, your disciples do what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.” [3] But he said to them, “Haven’t you read what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him: [4] how he entered into God’s house and ate the show bread, which was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests?† [5] Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath day the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and are guiltless? [6] But I tell you that one greater than the temple is here. [7] But if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’† you wouldn’t have condemned the guiltless. [8] For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.” [9] He departed from there and went into their synagogue. [10] And behold, there was a man with a withered hand. They asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath day?” so that they might accuse him. [11] He said to them, “What man is there among you who has one sheep, and if this one falls into a pit on the Sabbath day, won’t he grab on to it and lift it out? [12] Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath day.” [13] Then he told the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out; and it was restored whole, just like the other. [14] But the Pharisees went out and conspired against him, how they might destroy him. [15] Jesus, perceiving that, withdrew from there. Great multitudes followed him; and he healed them all, [16] and commanded them that they should not make him known, [17] that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,
[18] “Behold, my servant whom I have chosen,
my beloved in whom my soul is well pleased.
I will put my Spirit on him.
He will proclaim justice to the nations.
[19] He will not strive, nor shout,
neither will anyone hear his voice in the streets.
[20] He won’t break a bruised reed.
He won’t quench a smoking flax,
until he leads justice to victory.
[21] In his name, the nations will hope.”† [22] Then one possessed by a demon, blind and mute, was brought to him; and he healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw. [23] All the multitudes were amazed, and said, “Can this be the son of David?” [24] But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, “This man does not cast out demons except by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.” [25] Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. [26] If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? [27] If I by Beelzebul cast out demons, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges. [28] But if I by the Spirit of God cast out demons, then God’s Kingdom has come upon you. [29] Or how can one enter into the house of the strong man and plunder his goods, unless he first bind the strong man? Then he will plunder his house. [30] “He who is not with me is against me, and he who doesn’t gather with me, scatters. [31] Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. [32] Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age, or in that which is to come. [33] “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree corrupt and its fruit corrupt; for the tree is known by its fruit. [34] You offspring of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. [35] The good man out of his good treasure‡ brings out good things, and the evil man out of his evil treasure brings out evil things. [36] I tell you that every idle word that men speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. [37] For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” [38] Then certain of the scribes and Pharisees answered, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.” [39] But he answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, but no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet. [40] For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the huge fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. [41] The men of Nineveh will stand up in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, someone greater than Jonah is here. [42] The Queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, someone greater than Solomon is here. [43] “When an unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he passes through waterless places seeking rest, and doesn’t find it. [44] Then he says, ‘I will return into my house from which I came;’ and when he has come back, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. [45] Then he goes and takes with himself seven other spirits more evil than he is, and they enter in and dwell there. The last state of that man becomes worse than the first. Even so will it be also to this evil generation.” [46] While he was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, seeking to speak to him. [47] One said to him, “Behold, your mother and your brothers stand outside, seeking to speak to you.” [48] But he answered him who spoke to him, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” [49] He stretched out his hand toward his disciples, and said, “Behold, my mother and my brothers! [50] For whoever does the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.”
[18] “Behold, my servant whom I have chosen,
my beloved in whom my soul is well pleased.
I will put my Spirit on him.
He will proclaim justice to the nations.
[19] He will not strive, nor shout,
neither will anyone hear his voice in the streets.

[1] AtG1722 thatG1565 timeG2540 JesusG2424 wentG4198(AorPasDepInd) on the sabbath dayG4521 throughG1223 the corn;G4702 andG1161 hisG846 disciplesG3101 were an hungred,G3983(AorActInd) andG2532 beganG756(AorMidDepInd) to pluckG5089(PresActInf) the ears of corn,G4719 andG2532 to eat.G2068(PresActInf) [2] ButG1161 when the PhariseesG5330 sawG1492(Aor2ActPtc) [it], they saidG2036(Aor2ActInd) unto him,G846 Behold,G2400(Aor2ActImpr) thyG4675 disciplesG3101 doG4160(PresActInd) that whichG3739 isG1832 notG3756 lawfulG1832(PresInd) to doG4160(PresActInf) uponG1722 the sabbath day.G4521 [3] ButG1161 he saidG2036(Aor2ActInd) unto them,G846 Have yeG314 notG3756 readG314(Aor2ActInd) whatG5101 DavidG1138 did,G4160(AorActInd) whenG3753 heG846 was an hungred,G3983(AorActInd) andG2532 theyG3326 that were with him;G846 [4] HowG4459 he entered intoG1525(Aor2ActInd) the houseG3624 of God,G2316 andG2532 did eatG5315(Aor2ActInd) the shewbread,G740 whichG3739 wasG2258(ImpfInd) notG3756 lawfulG1832(PresPtc) for himG846 to eat,G5315(Aor2ActInf) neither forG3761 them whichG3326 were with him,G846 butG1508 onlyG3441 for the priests?G2409 [5] OrG2228 have yeG314 notG3756 readG314(Aor2ActInd) inG1722 the law,G3551 how thatG3754 on the sabbath daysG4521 the priestsG2409 inG1722 the templeG2411 profaneG953(PresActInd) the sabbath,G4521 andG2532 areG1526(PresInd) blameless?G338 [6] ButG1161 I sayG3004(PresActInd) unto you,G5213 ThatG3754 in this placeG5602 is [one]G2076(PresInd) greater thanG3187 the temple.G2411 [7] ButG1161 ifG1487 ye had knownG1097(PlupfActInd) whatG5101 [this] meaneth,G2076(PresInd) I will haveG2309(PresActInd) mercy,G1656 andG2532 notG3756 sacrifice,G2378 ye wouldG302 notG3756 have condemnedG2613(AorActInd) the guiltless.G338 [8] ForG1063 the SonG5207 of manG444 isG2076(PresInd) LordG2962 evenG2532 of the sabbath day.G4521 [9] AndG2532 when he was departedG3327(Aor2ActPtc) thence,G1564 he wentG2064(Aor2ActInd) intoG1519 theirG846 synagogue:G4864 [10] And,G2532 behold,G2400(Aor2ActImpr) there wasG2258(ImpfInd) a manG444 which hadG2192(PresActPtc) [his] handG5495 withered.G3584 AndG2532 they askedG1905(AorActInd) him,G846 saying,G3004(PresActPtc) Is it lawfulG1487 to healG2323(PresActInf) on the sabbath days?G4521 thatG2443 they might accuseG2723(AorActSubj) him.G846 [11] AndG1161 he saidG2036(Aor2ActInd) unto them,G846 WhatG5101 manG444 shall there beG2071(FutInd) amongG1537 you,G5216 thatG3739 shall haveG2192(FutActInd) oneG1520 sheep,G4263 andG2532 ifG1437 itG5124 fallG1706(Aor2ActSubj) intoG1519 a pitG999 on the sabbath day,G4521 will heG2902 notG3780 lay holdG2902(FutActInd) on it,G846 andG2532 lift [it] out?G1453(FutActInd) [12] How muchG4214 thenG3767 is a manG444 better thanG1308(PresActInd) a sheep?G4263 WhereforeG5620 it is lawfulG1832(PresInd) to doG4160(PresActInf) wellG2573 on the sabbath days.G4521 [13] ThenG5119 saithG3004(PresActInd) he to the man,G444 Stretch forthG1614(AorActImpr) thineG4675 hand.G5495 AndG2532 he stretched [it] forth;G1614(AorActInd) andG2532 it was restoredG600(AorPasInd) whole,G5199 like asG5613 the other.G243 [14] ThenG1161 the PhariseesG5330 went out,G1831(Aor2ActPtc) and heldG2983(Aor2ActInd) a councilG4824 againstG2596 him,G846 howG3704 they might destroyG622(AorActSubj) him.G846 [15] ButG1161 when JesusG2424 knewG1097(Aor2ActPtc) [it], he withdrew himselfG402(AorActInd) from thence:G1564 andG2532 greatG4183 multitudesG3793 followedG190(AorActInd) him,G846 andG2532 he healedG2323(AorActInd) themG846 all;G3956 [16] AndG2532 chargedG2008(AorActInd) themG846 thatG3363 they shouldG4160 notG3363 makeG4160(AorActSubj) himG846 known:G5318 [17] ThatG3704 it might be fulfilledG4137(AorPasSubj) whichG3588 was spokenG4483(AorPasPtc) byG1223 EsaiasG2268 the prophet,G4396 saying,G3004(PresActPtc) [18] BeholdG2400(Aor2ActImpr) myG3450 servant,G3816 whomG3739 I have chosen;G140(AorActInd) myG3450 beloved,G27 inG1519 whomG3739 myG3450 soulG5590 is well pleased:G2106(AorActInd) I will putG5087(FutActInd) myG3450 spiritG4151 uponG1909 him,G846 andG2532 he shall shewG518(FutActInd) judgmentG2920 to the Gentiles.G1484 [19] He shallG2051 notG3756 strive,G2051(FutActInd) norG3761 cry;G2905(FutActInd) neitherG3761 shall any manG5100 hearG191(FutActInd) hisG846 voiceG5456 inG1722 the streets.G4113 [20] A bruisedG4937(PerfPasPtc) reedG2563 shall heG2608 notG3756 break,G2608(AorActInd) andG2532 smokingG5188(PresPasPtc) flaxG3043 shall heG4570 notG3756 quench,G4570(FutActInd) tillG2193 he send forthG1544(Aor2ActSubj) judgmentG2920 untoG1519 victory.G3534 [21] AndG2532 inG1722 hisG846 nameG3686 shallG1679 the GentilesG1484 trust.G1679(FutActInd) [22] ThenG5119 was broughtG4374(AorPasInd) unto himG846 one possessed with a devil,G1139(PresMidPasDepPtc) blind,G5185 andG2532 dumb:G2974 andG2532 he healedG2323(AorActInd) him,G846 insomuch thatG5620 the blindG5185 andG2532 dumbG2974 bothG2532 spakeG2980(PresActInf) andG2532 saw.G991(PresActInf) [23] AndG2532 allG3956 the peopleG3793 were amazed,G1839(ImpfMidInd) andG2532 said,G3004(ImpfActInd) IsG2076(PresInd) notG3385 thisG3778 the sonG5207 of David?G1138 [24] ButG1161 when the PhariseesG5330 heardG191(AorActPtc) [it], they said,G2036(Aor2ActInd) ThisG3778 [fellow] dothG1544 notG3756 cast outG1544(PresActInd) devils,G1140 butG1508 byG1722 BeelzebubG954 the princeG758 of the devils.G1140 [25] AndG1161 JesusG2424 knewG1492(PerfActPtc) theirG846 thoughts,G1761 and saidG2036(Aor2ActInd) unto them,G846 EveryG3956 kingdomG932 dividedG3307(AorPasPtc) againstG2596 itselfG1438 is brought to desolation;G2049(PresPasInd) andG2532 everyG3956 cityG4172 orG2228 houseG3614 dividedG3307(AorPasPtc) againstG2596 itselfG1438 shallG2476 notG3756 stand:G2476(FutPasInd) [26] AndG2532 ifG1487 SatanG4567 cast outG1544(PresActInd) Satan,G4567 he is dividedG3307(AorPasInd) againstG1909 himself;G1438 howG4459 shallG2476 thenG3767 hisG846 kingdomG932 stand?G2476(FutPasInd) [27] AndG2532 ifG1487 IG1473 byG1722 BeelzebubG954 cast outG1544(PresActInd) devils,G1140 byG1722 whomG5101 do yourG5216 childrenG5207 cast [them] out?G1544(PresActInd) thereforeG5124 theyG846 shall beG2071(FutInd) yourG5216 judges.G2923 [28] ButG1161 ifG1487 IG1473 cast outG1544(PresActInd) devilsG1140 byG1722 the SpiritG4151 of God,G2316 thenG686 the kingdomG932 of GodG2316 is comeG5348(AorActInd) untoG1909 you.G5209 [29] OrG2228 else howG4459 canG1410(PresMidPasDepInd) oneG5100 enterG1525(Aor2ActInf) intoG1519 a strong man’sG2478 house,G3614 andG2532 spoilG1283(AorActInf) hisG846 goods,G4632 exceptG3362 he firstG4412 bindG1210(AorActSubj) the strong man?G2478 andG2532 thenG5119 he will spoilG1283(FutActInd) hisG846 house.G3614 [30] He that isG5607(PresPtc) notG3361 withG3326 meG1700 isG2076(PresInd) againstG2596 me;G1700 andG2532 he that gatherethG4863(PresActPtc) notG3361 withG3326 meG1700 scattereth abroad.G4650(PresActInd) [31] WhereforeG1223 I sayG3004(PresActInd) unto you,G5213 All manner ofG3956 sinG266 andG2532 blasphemyG988 shall be forgivenG863(FutPasInd) unto men:G444 butG1161 the blasphemyG988 [against] the [Holy] GhostG4151 shallG863 notG3756 be forgivenG863(FutPasInd) unto men.G444 [32] AndG2532 whosoeverG3739 speakethG2036(Aor2ActSubj) a wordG3056 againstG2596 the SonG5207 of man,G444 it shall be forgivenG863(FutPasInd) him:G846 butG3739 whosoeverG1161 speakethG2036(Aor2ActSubj) againstG2596 the HolyG40 Ghost,G4151 it shallG863 notG3756 be forgivenG863(FutPasInd) him,G846 neitherG3777 inG1722 thisG5129 world,G165 neitherG3777 inG1722 the [world] to come.G3195(PresActPtc) [33] EitherG2228 makeG4160(AorActImpr) the treeG1186 good,G2570 andG2532 hisG846 fruitG2590 good;G2570 or elseG2228 makeG4160(AorActImpr) the treeG1186 corrupt,G4550 andG2532 hisG846 fruitG2590 corrupt:G4550 forG1063 the treeG1186 is knownG1097(PresPasInd) byG1537 [his] fruit.G2590 [34] O generationG1081 of vipers,G2191 howG4459 can ye,G1410(PresMidPasDepInd) beingG5607(PresPtc) evil,G4190 speakG2980(PresActInf) good things?G18 forG1063 out ofG1537 the abundanceG4051 of the heartG2588 the mouthG4750 speaketh.G2980(PresActInd) [35] A goodG18 manG444 out ofG1537 the goodG18 treasureG2344 of the heartG2588 bringeth forthG1544(PresActInd) good things:G18 andG2532 an evilG4190 manG444 out ofG1537 the evilG4190 treasureG2344 bringeth forthG1544(PresActInd) evil things.G4190 [36] ButG1161 I sayG3004(PresActInd) unto you,G5213 ThatG3754 everyG3956 idleG692 wordG4487 thatG3739 menG444 shall speak,G2980(AorActSubj) they shall giveG591(FutActInd) accountG3056 thereofG4012 inG1722 the dayG2250 of judgment.G2920 [37] ForG1063 byG1537 thyG4675 wordsG3056 thou shalt be justified,G1344(FutPasInd) andG2532 byG1537 thyG4675 wordsG3056 thou shalt be condemned.G2613(FutPasInd) [38] ThenG5119 certainG5100 of the scribesG1122 andG2532 of the PhariseesG5330 answered,G611(AorMidDepInd) saying,G3004(PresActPtc) Master,G1320 we wouldG2309(PresActInd) seeG1492(Aor2ActInf) a signG4592 fromG575 thee.G4675 [39] ButG1161 he answeredG611(AorPasDepPtc) and saidG2036(Aor2ActInd) unto them,G846 An evilG4190 andG2532 adulterousG3428 generationG1074 seeketh afterG1934(PresActInd) a sign;G4592 andG2532 there shall noG3756 signG4592 be givenG1325(FutPasInd) to it,G846 butG1508 the signG4592 of the prophetG4396 Jonas:G2495 [40] ForG1063 asG5618 JonasG2495 wasG2258(ImpfInd) threeG5140 daysG2250 andG2532 threeG5140 nightsG3571 inG1722 the whale’sG2785
