[1] But now Yahweh who created you, Jacob,
and he who formed you, Israel, says:
“Don’t be afraid, for I have redeemed you.
I have called you by your name.
You are mine.
[2] When you pass through the waters, I will be with you,
and through the rivers, they will not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned,
and flame will not scorch you.
[3] For I am Yahweh your God,
the Holy One of Israel,
your Savior.
I have given Egypt as your ransom,
Ethiopia and Seba in your place.
[4] Since you have been precious and honored in my sight,
and I have loved you,
therefore I will give people in your place,
and nations instead of your life.
[5] Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
I will bring your offspring from the east,
and gather you from the west.
[6] I will tell the north, ‘Give them up!’
and tell the south, ‘Don’t hold them back!
Bring my sons from far away,
and my daughters from the ends of the earth—
[7] everyone who is called by my name,
and whom I have created for my glory,
whom I have formed,
yes, whom I have made.’ ” [8] Bring out the blind people who have eyes,
and the deaf who have ears.
[9] Let all the nations be gathered together,
and let the peoples be assembled.
Who among them can declare this,
and show us former things?
Let them bring their witnesses, that they may be justified,
or let them hear, and say, “That is true.” [10] “You are my witnesses,” says Yahweh,
“With my servant whom I have chosen;
that you may know and believe me,
and understand that I am he.
Before me there was no God formed,
neither will there be after me.
[11] I myself am Yahweh.
Besides me, there is no savior.
[12] I have declared, I have saved, and I have shown,
and there was no strange god among you.
Therefore you are my witnesses”,
says Yahweh, “and I am God.
[13] Yes, since the day was, I am he.
There is no one who can deliver out of my hand.
I will work, and who can hinder it?” [14] Yahweh, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel says: “For your sake, I have sent to Babylon, and I will bring all of them down as fugitives, even the Chaldeans, in the ships of their rejoicing. [15] I am Yahweh, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.” [16] Yahweh, who makes a way in the sea,
and a path in the mighty waters,
[17] who brings out the chariot and horse,
the army and the mighty man
(they lie down together, they shall not rise;
they are extinct, they are quenched like a wick) says:
[18] “Don’t remember the former things,
and don’t consider the things of old.
[19] Behold, I will do a new thing.
It springs out now.
Don’t you know it?
I will even make a way in the wilderness,
and rivers in the desert.
[20] The animals of the field, the jackals and the ostriches, shall honor me,
because I give water in the wilderness and rivers in the desert,
to give drink to my people, my chosen,
[21] the people which I formed for myself,
that they might declare my praise. [22] Yet you have not called on me, Jacob;
but you have been weary of me, Israel.
[23] You have not brought me any of your sheep for burnt offerings,
neither have you honored me with your sacrifices.
I have not burdened you with offerings,
nor wearied you with frankincense.
[24] You have bought me no sweet cane with money,
nor have you filled me with the fat of your sacrifices,
but you have burdened me with your sins.
You have wearied me with your iniquities. [25] I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake;
and I will not remember your sins.
[26] Put me in remembrance.
Let us plead together.
Declare your case,
that you may be justified.
[27] Your first father sinned,
and your teachers have transgressed against me.
[28] Therefore I will profane the princes of the sanctuary;
and I will make Jacob a curse,
and Israel an insult.”
and he who formed you, Israel, says:
“Don’t be afraid, for I have redeemed you.
I have called you by your name.

[1] But now thus saithH559(QalPerf) the LordH3068 that createdH1254(QalActPtc) thee, O Jacob,H3290 and he that formedH3335(QalActPtc) thee, O Israel,H3478 FearH3372(QalImpf) not: for I have redeemedH1350(QalPerf) thee, I have calledH7121(QalPerf) [thee] by thy name;H8034 thou [art] mine. [2] When thou passest throughH5674(QalImpf) the waters,H4325 I [will be] with thee; and through the rivers,H5104 they shall not overflowH7857(QalImpf) thee: when thou walkestH3212(QalImpf) throughH1119 the fire,H784 thou shalt not be burned;H3554(NiphImpf) neither shall the flameH3852 kindleH1197(QalImpf) upon thee. [3] For I [am] the LordH3068 thy God,H430 the Holy OneH6918 of Israel,H3478 thy Saviour:H3467(HiphPtc) I gaveH5414(QalPerf) EgyptH4714 [for] thy ransom,H3724 EthiopiaH3568 and SebaH5434 for thee. [4] Since thou wast preciousH3365(QalPerf) in my sight,H5869 thou hast been honourable,H3513(NiphPerf) and I have lovedH157(QalPerf) thee: therefore will I giveH5414(QalImpf) menH120 for thee, and peopleH3816 for thy life.H5315 [5] FearH3372(QalImpf) not: for I [am] with thee: I will bringH935(HiphImpf) thy seedH2233 from the east,H4217 and gatherH6908(PielImpf) thee from the west;H4628 [6] I will sayH559(QalImpf) to the north,H6828 Give up;H5414(QalImpv) and to the south,H8486 Keep not back:H3607(QalImpf) bringH935(HiphImpv) my sonsH1121 from far,H7350 and my daughtersH1323 from the endsH7097 of the earth;H776 [7] [Even] every oneH3605 that is calledH7121(NiphPtc) by my name:H8034 for I have createdH1254(QalPerf) him for my glory,H3519 I have formedH3335(QalPerf) him; yea, I have madeH6213(QalPerf) him. [8] Bring forthH3318(HiphImpv) the blindH5787 peopleH5971 that haveH3426 eyes,H5869 and the deafH2795 that have ears.H241 [9] Let all the nationsH1471 be gatheredH6908(NiphPerf) together,H3162 and let the peopleH3816 be assembled:H622(NiphImpf) who among them can declareH5046(HiphImpf) this, and shewH8085(HiphImpf) us former things?H7223 let them bring forthH5414(QalImpf) their witnesses,H5707 that they may be justified:H6663(QalImpf) or let them hear,H8085(QalImpf) and say,H559(QalImpf) [It is] truth.H571 [10] Ye [are] my witnesses,H5707 saithH5002(QalPasPtc) the Lord,H3068 and my servantH5650 whom I have chosen:H977(QalPerf) that ye may knowH3045(QalImpf) and believeH539(HiphImpf) me, and understandH995(QalImpf) that I [am] he: beforeH6440 me there was no GodH410 formed,H3335(NiphPerf) neither shall there be afterH310 me. [11] I, [even] I, [am] the Lord;H3068 and besideH1107 me [there is] no saviour.H3467(HiphPtc) [12] I have declared,H5046(HiphPerf) and have saved,H3467(HiphPerf) and I have shewed,H8085(HiphPerf) when [there was] no strangeH2114(QalPtc) [god] among you: therefore ye [are] my witnesses,H5707 saithH5002(QalPasPtc) the Lord,H3068 that I [am] God.H410 [13] Yea, before the dayH3117 [was] I [am] he; and [there is] none that can deliverH5337(HiphPtc) out of my hand:H3027 I will work,H6466(QalImpf) and who shall letH7725(HiphImpf) it? [14] Thus saithH559(QalPerf) the Lord,H3068 your redeemer,H1350(QalActPtc) the Holy OneH6918 of Israel;H3478 For your sake I have sentH7971(PielPerf) to Babylon,H894 and have brought downH3381(HiphPerf) all their nobles,H1281 and the Chaldeans,H3778 whose cryH7440 [is] in the ships.H591 [15] I [am] the Lord,H3068 your Holy One,H6918 the creatorH1254(QalActPtc) of Israel,H3478 your King.H4428 [16] Thus saithH559(QalPerf) the Lord,H3068 which makethH5414(QalActPtc) a wayH1870 in the sea,H3220 and a pathH5410 in the mightyH5794 waters;H4325 [17] Which bringeth forthH3318(HiphPtc) the chariotH7393 and horse,H5483 the armyH2428 and the power;H5808 they shall lie downH7901(QalImpf) together,H3162 they shall not rise:H6965(QalImpf) they are extinct,H1846(QalPerf) they are quenchedH3518(QalPerf) as tow.H6594 [18] RememberH2142(QalImpf) ye not the former things,H7223 neither considerH995(HiplImpf) the things of old.H6931 [19] Behold, I will doH6213(QalActPtc) a new thing;H2319 now it shall spring forth;H6779(QalImpf) shall ye not knowH3045(QalImpf) it? I will even makeH7760(QalImpf) a wayH1870 in the wilderness,H4057 [and] riversH5104 in the desert.H3452 [20] The beastH2416 of the fieldH7704 shall honourH3513(PielImpf) me, the dragonsH8577 and the owls:H1323 because I giveH5414(QalPerf) watersH4325 in the wilderness,H4057 [and] riversH5104 in the desert,H3452 to give drinkH8248(HiphInf) to my people,H5971 my chosen.H972 [21] ThisH2098 peopleH5971 have I formedH3335(QalPerf) for myself; they shall shew forthH5608(PielImpf) my praise.H8416 [22] But thou hast not calledH7121(QalPerf) upon me, O Jacob;H3290 but thou hast been wearyH3021(QalPerf) of me, O Israel.H3478 [23] Thou hast not broughtH935(HiphPerf) me the small cattleH7716 of thy burnt offerings;H5930 neither hast thou honouredH3513(PielPerf) me with thy sacrifices.H2077 I have not caused thee to serveH5647(HiphPerf) with an offering,H4503 nor weariedH3021(HiphPerf) thee with incense.H3828 [24] Thou hast boughtH7069(QalPerf) me no sweet caneH7070 with money,H3701 neither hast thou filledH7301(HiphPerf) me with the fatH2459 of thy sacrifices:H2077 but thou hast made me to serveH5647(HiphPerf) with thy sins,H2403 thou hast weariedH3021(HiphPerf) me with thine iniquities.H5771 [25] I, [even] I, [am] he that blotteth outH4229(QalActPtc) thy transgressionsH6588 for mine own sake, and will not rememberH2142(QalImpf) thy sins.H2403 [26] Put me in remembrance:H2142(HiphImpv) let us pleadH8199(NiphImpf) together:H3162 declareH5608(PielImpv) thou, that thou mayest be justified.H6663(QalImpf) [27] Thy firstH7223 fatherH1 hath sinned,H2398(QalPerf) and thy teachersH3887(HiphPtc) have transgressedH6586(QalPerf) against me. [28] Therefore I have profanedH2490(PielImpf) the princesH8269 of the sanctuary,H6944 and have givenH5414(QalImpf) JacobH3290 to the curse,H2764 and IsraelH3478 to reproaches.H1421
