[1] In that day, Yahweh with his hard and great and strong sword will punish leviathan, the fleeing serpent, and leviathan, the twisted serpent; and he will kill the dragon that is in the sea. [2] In that day, sing to her, “A pleasant vineyard! [3] I, Yahweh, am its keeper. I will water it every moment. Lest anyone damage it, I will keep it night and day. [4] Wrath is not in me, but if I should find briers and thorns, I would do battle! I would march on them and I would burn them together. [5] Or else let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me. Let him make peace with me.” [6] In days to come, Jacob will take root. Israel will blossom and bud. They will fill the surface of the world with fruit. [7] Has he struck them as he struck those who struck them? Or are they killed like those who killed them were killed? [8] In measure, when you send them away, you contend with them. He has removed them with his rough blast in the day of the east wind. [9] Therefore by this the iniquity of Jacob will be forgiven, and this is all the fruit of taking away his sin: that he makes all the stones of the altar as chalk stones that are beaten in pieces, so that the Asherah poles and the incense altars shall rise no more. [10] For the fortified city is solitary, a habitation deserted and forsaken, like the wilderness. The calf will feed there, and there he will lie down, and consume its branches. [11] When its boughs are withered, they will be broken off. The women will come and set them on fire, for they are a people of no understanding. Therefore he who made them will not have compassion on them, and he who formed them will show them no favor. [12] It will happen in that day that Yahweh will thresh from the flowing stream of the Euphrates to the brook of Egypt; and you will be gathered one by one, children of Israel. [13] It will happen in that day that a great trumpet will be blown; and those who were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and those who were outcasts in the land of Egypt, shall come; and they will worship Yahweh in the holy mountain at Jerusalem.
King James Version
[1] In that day H3117 the Lord H3068 with his sore H7186 and great H1419 and strong H2389 sword H2719 shall punish H6485 (QalImpf) leviathan H3882 the piercing H1281§ serpent, H5175 even leviathan H3882 that crooked H6129 serpent; H5175 and he shall slay H2026 (QalPerf) the dragon H8577 that is in the sea. H3220 [2] In that day H3117 sing H6031 (PielImpv) ye unto her, A vineyard H3754 of red wine. H2561 (Ketiv) [3] I the Lord H3068 do keep H5341 (QalActPtc) it; I will water H8248 (HiphImpf) it every moment: H7281 lest any hurt H6485 (QalImpf) it, I will keep H5341 (QalImpf) it night H3915 and day. H3117 [4] Fury H2534 is not in me: who would set H5414 (QalImpf) the briers H8068 and thorns H7898 against me in battle? H4421 I would go H6585 (QalImpf) through§ them, I would burn H6702 (HiphImpf) them together. H3162 [5] Or let him take hold H2388 (HiphImpf) of my strength, H4581 that he may make H6213 (QalImpf) peace H7965 with me; and he shall make H6213 (QalImpf) peace H7965 with me. [6] He shall cause them that come H935 (QalActPtc) of Jacob H3290 to take root: H8327 (HiphImpf) Israel H3478 shall blossom H6692 (HiphImpf) and bud, H6524 (QalPerf) and fill H4390 (QalPerf) the face H6440 of the world H8398 with fruit. H8570 [7] Hath he smitten H5221 (HiphPerf) him, as he smote H4347 those§ that smote H5221 (HiphPtc) him? or is he slain H2026 (PualPerf) according to the slaughter H2027 of them that are slain H2026 (QalPasPtc) by him? [8] In measure, H5432 when it shooteth forth, H7971 (PielInf) thou wilt debate H7378 (QalImpf) with it: he stayeth H1898 (QalPerf)§ his rough H7186 wind H7307 in the day H3117 of the east wind. H6921 [9] By this H2063 therefore shall the iniquity H5771 of Jacob H3290 be purged; H3722 (PualImpf) and this is all the fruit H6529 to take away H5493 (HiphInf) his sin; H2403 when he maketh H7760 (QalInf) all the stones H68 of the altar H4196 as chalkstones H1615 that are beaten in sunder, H5310 (PualPtc) the groves H842 and images H2553§ shall not stand up. H6965 (QalImpf) [10] Yet the defenced H1219 (QalPasPtc) city H5892 shall be desolate, H910 and the habitation H5116 forsaken, H7971 (PualPtc) and left H5800 (NiphPtc) like a wilderness: H4057 there shall the calf H5695 feed, H7462 (QalImpf) and there shall he lie down, H7257 (QalImpf) and consume H3615 (PielPerf) the branches H5585 thereof. [11] When the boughs H7105 thereof are withered, H3001 (QalInf) they shall be broken off: H7665 (NiphImpf) the women H802 come, H935 (QalActPtc) and set them on fire: H215 (HiphPtc) for it is a people H5971 of no understanding: H998 therefore he that made H6213 (QalActPtc) them will not have mercy H7355 (PielImpf) on them, and he that formed H3335 (QalActPtc) them will shew them no favour. H2603 (QalImpf) [12] And it shall come to pass in that day, H3117 that the Lord H3068 shall beat off H2251 (QalImpf) from the channel H7641 of the river H5104 unto the stream H5158 of Egypt, H4714 and ye shall be gathered H3950 (PualImpf) one H259 by one, H259 O ye children H1121 of Israel. H3478 [13] And it shall come to pass in that day, H3117 that the great H1419 trumpet H7782 shall be blown, H8628 (NiphImpf) and they shall come H935 (QalPerf) which were ready to perish H6 (QalActPtc) in the land H776 of Assyria, H804 and the outcasts H5080 (NiphPtc) in the land H776 of Egypt, H4714 and shall worship H7812 (HithPerf) the Lord H3068 in the holy H6944 mount H2022 at Jerusalem.
