Psalm 49 (WEBP)
[1] Hear this, all you peoples. Listen, all you inhabitants of the world,
[2] both low and high, rich and poor together.
[3] My mouth will speak words of wisdom. My heart will utter understanding.
[4] I will incline my ear to a proverb. I will solve my riddle on the harp.
[5] Why should I fear in the days of evil, when iniquity at my heels surrounds me?
[6] Those who trust in their wealth, and boast in the multitude of their riches—
[7] none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give God a ransom for him.
[8] For the redemption of their life is costly, no payment is ever enough,
[9] that he should live on forever, that he should not see corruption.
[10] For he sees that wise men die; likewise the fool and the senseless perish, and leave their wealth to others.
[11] Their inward thought is that their houses will endure forever, and their dwelling places to all generations. They name their lands after themselves.
[12] But man, despite his riches, doesn’t endure. He is like the animals that perish.
[13] This is the destiny of those who are foolish, and of those who approve their sayings. Selah.
[14] They are appointed as a flock for Sheol.° Death shall be their shepherd. The upright shall have dominion over them in the morning. Their beauty shall decay in Sheol,° far from their mansion.
[15] But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol,° for he will receive me. Selah.
[16] Don’t be afraid when a man is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
[17] for when he dies he will carry nothing away. His glory won’t descend after him.
[18] Though while he lived he blessed his soul— and men praise you when you do well for yourself—
[19] he shall go to the generation of his fathers. They shall never see the light.
[20] A man who has riches without understanding, is like the animals that perish.

Psalm 49 (KJVS)
[1] Hear H8085 (8798) this, all [ye] people; H5971 give ear, H238 (8685) all [ye] inhabitants H3427 (8802) of the world: H2465
[2] Both low H1121 H120 and high, H1121 H376 rich H6223 and poor, H34 together. H3162
[3] My mouth H6310 shall speak H1696 (8762) of wisdom; H2454 and the meditation H1900 of my heart H3820 [shall be] of understanding. H8394
[4] I will incline H5186 (8686) mine ear H241 to a parable: H4912 I will open H6605 (8799) my dark saying H2420 upon the harp. H3658
[5] Wherefore should I fear H3372 (8799) in the days H3117 of evil, H7451 [when] the iniquity H5771 of my heels H6120 shall compass H5437 (8799) me about?
[6] They that trust H982 (8802) in their wealth, H2428 and boast H1984 (8691) themselves in the multitude H7230 of their riches; H6239
[7] None [of them] can H376 by any means H6299 (8800) redeem H6299 (8799) his brother, H251 nor give H5414 (8799) to God H430 a ransom H3724 for him:
[8] (For the redemption H6306 of their soul H5315 [is] precious, H3365 (8799) and it ceaseth H2308 (8804) for ever: H5769)
[9] That he should still live H2421 (8799) for ever, H5331 [and] not see H7200 (8799) corruption. H7845
[10] For he seeth H7200 (8799) [that] wise men H2450 die, H4191 (8799) likewise H3162 the fool H3684 and the brutish person H1198 perish, H6 (8799) and leave H5800 (8804) their wealth H2428 to others. H312
[11] Their inward H7130 thought [is, that] their houses H1004 [shall continue] for ever, H5769 [and] their dwelling H4908 places to all H1755 generations; H1755 they call H7121 (8804) [their] lands H127 after their own names. H8034
[12] Nevertheless man H120 [being] in honour H3366 abideth H3885 (8799) not: he is like H4911 (8738) the beasts H929 [that] perish. H1820 (8738)
[13] This their way H1870 [is] their folly: H3689 yet their posterity H310 approve H7521 (8799) their sayings. H6310 Selah. H5542
[14] Like sheep H6629 they are laid H8371 (8804) in the grave; H7585 death H4194 shall feed H7462 (8799) on them; and the upright H3477 shall have dominion H7287 (8799) over them in the morning; H1242 and their beauty H6697 (8675) H6736 shall consume H1086 (8763) in the grave H7585 from their dwelling. H2073
[15] But God H430 will redeem H6299 (8799) my soul H5315 from the power H3027 of the grave: H7585 for he shall receive H3947 (8799) me. Selah. H5542
[16] Be not thou afraid H3372 (8799) when one H376 is made rich, H6238 (8686) when the glory H3519 of his house H1004 is increased; H7235 (8799)
[17] For when he dieth H4194 he shall carry nothing away: H3947 (8799) his glory H3519 shall not descend H3381 (8799) after H310 him.
[18] Though while he lived H2416 he blessed H1288 (8762) his soul: H5315 and [men] will praise H3034 (8686) thee, when thou doest well H3190 (8686) to thyself.
[19] He shall go H935 (8799) to the generation H1755 of his fathers; H1 they shall never H3808 H5331 see H7200 (8799) light. H216
[20] Man H120 [that is] in honour, H3366 and understandeth H995 (8799) not, is like H4911 (8738) the beasts H929 [that] perish. H1820 (8738)
Young’s Literal Translation
Psalm 49 (YLT)
[1] Hear this, all ye peoples, Give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world.
[2] Both low and high, together rich and needy.
[3] My mouth speaketh wise things, And the meditations of my heart are things of understanding.
[4] I incline to a simile mine ear, I open with a harp my riddle:
[5] Why do I fear in days of evil? The iniquity of my supplanters doth compass me.
[6] Those trusting on their wealth, And in the multitude of their riches, Do shew themselves foolish.
[7] A brother doth no one at all ransom, He doth not give to God his atonement.
[8] And precious is the redemption of their soul, And it hath ceased-to the age.
[9] And still he liveth for ever, He seeth not the pit.
[10] For he seeth wise men die, Together the foolish and brutish perish, And have left to others their wealth.
[11] Their heart is: Their houses are to the age, Their tabernacles to all generations. They proclaimed their names over the lands.
[12] And man in honour doth not remain, He hath been like the beasts, they have been cut off.
[13] This their way is folly for them, And their posterity with their sayings are pleased. Selah.
[14] As sheep for Sheol they have set themselves, Death doth afflict them, And the upright rule over them in the morning, And their form is for consumption. Sheol is a dwelling for him.
[15] Only, God doth ransom my soul from the hand of Sheol, For He doth receive me. Selah.
[16] Fear not, when one maketh wealth, When the honour of his house is abundant,
[17] For at his death he receiveth nothing, His honour goeth not down after him.
[18] For his soul in his life he blesseth, (And they praise thee when thou dost well for thyself.)
[19] It cometh to the generation of his fathers, For ever they see not the light.
[20] Man in honour, who understandest not, Hath been like the beasts, they have been cut off!
