World English Bible Classic
[1] Yahweh, you God to whom vengeance belongs,
you God to whom vengeance belongs, shine out.
[2] Rise up, you judge of the earth.
Pay back the proud what they deserve.
[3] Yahweh, how long will the wicked,
how long will the wicked triumph?
[4] They pour out arrogant words.
All the evildoers boast.
[5] They break your people in pieces, Yahweh,
and afflict your heritage.
[6] They kill the widow and the alien,
and murder the fatherless.
[7] They say, “Yah will not see,
neither will Jacob’s God consider.”
[8] Consider, you senseless among the people;
you fools, when will you be wise?
[9] He who implanted the ear, won’t he hear?
He who formed the eye, won’t he see?
[10] He who disciplines the nations, won’t he punish?
He who teaches man knows.
[11] Yahweh knows the thoughts of man,
that they are futile.
[12] Blessed is the man whom you discipline, Yah,
and teach out of your law,
[13] that you may give him rest from the days of adversity,
until the pit is dug for the wicked.
[14] For Yahweh won’t reject his people,
neither will he forsake his inheritance.
[15] For judgment will return to righteousness.
All the upright in heart shall follow it.
[16] Who will rise up for me against the wicked?
Who will stand up for me against the evildoers?
[17] Unless Yahweh had been my help,
my soul would have soon lived in silence.
[18] When I said, “My foot is slipping!”
Your loving kindness, Yahweh, held me up.
[19] In the multitude of my thoughts within me,
your comforts delight my soul.
[20] Shall the throne of wickedness have fellowship with you,
which brings about mischief by statute?
[21] They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous,
and condemn the innocent blood.
[22] But Yahweh has been my high tower,
my God, the rock of my refuge.
[23] He has brought on them their own iniquity,
and will cut them off in their own wickedness.
Yahweh, our God, will cut them off.

[1] O LordH3068 God,H410 to whom vengeanceH5360 belongeth; O God,H410 to whom vengeanceH5360 belongeth, shewH3313(HiphImpv) thyself. [2] Lift upH5375(NiphImpv) thyself, thou judgeH8199(QalActPtc) of the earth:H776 renderH7725(HiphImpv) a rewardH1576 to the proud.H1343 [3] Lord,H3068 how long shall the wicked,H7563 how long shall the wickedH7563 triumph?H5937(QalImpf) [4] [How long] shall they utterH5042(HiphImpf) [and] speakH1696(PielImpf) hard things?H6277 [and] all the workersH6466(QalActPtc) of iniquityH205 boastH559(HithImpf) themselves? [5] They break in piecesH1792(PielImpf) thy people,H5971 O Lord,H3068 and afflictH6031(PielImpf) thine heritage.H5159 [6] They slayH2026(QalImpf) the widowH490 and the stranger,H1616 and murderH7523(PielImpf) the fatherless.H3490 [7] Yet they say,H559(QalImpf) The LordH3050 shall not see,H7200(QalImpf) neither shall the GodH430 of JacobH3290 regardH995(QalImpf) [it]. [8] Understand,H995(QalImpv) ye brutishH1197(QalActPtc) among the people:H5971 and [ye] fools,H3684 when will ye be wise?H7919(HiphImpf) [9] He that plantedH5193(QalActPtc) the ear,H241 shall he not hear?H8085(QalImpf) he that formedH3335(QalActPtc) the eye,H5869 shall he not see?H5027(HiphImpf) [10] He that chastisethH3256(QalActPtc) the heathen,H1471 shall not he correct?H3198(HiphImpf) he that teachethH3925(PielPtc) manH120 knowledge,H1847 [shall not he know]? [11] The LordH3068 knowethH3045(QalActPtc) the thoughtsH4284 of man,H120 that they [are] vanity.H1892 [12] BlessedH835 [is] the manH1397 whom thou chastenest,H3256(PielImpf) O Lord,H3050 and teachestH3925(PielImpf) him out of thy law;H8451 [13] That thou mayest give him restH8252(HiphInf) from the daysH3117 of adversity,H7451 until the pitH7845 be diggedH3738(NiphImpf) for the wicked.H7563 [14] For the LordH3068 will not cast offH5203(QalImpf) his people,H5971 neither will he forsakeH5800(QalImpf) his inheritance.H5159 [15] But judgmentH4941 shall returnH7725(QalImpf) unto righteousness:H6664 and all the uprightH3477 in heartH3820 shall followH310 it. [16] Who will rise upH6965(QalImpf) for me against the evildoers?H7489(HiphPtc) [or] who will stand upH3320(HithImpf) for me against the workersH6466(QalActPtc) of iniquity?H205 [17] UnlessH3884 the LordH3068 [had been] my help,H5833 my soulH5315 had almostH4592 dweltH7931(QalPerf) in silence.H1745 [18] When I said,H559(QalPerf) My footH7272 slippeth;H4131(QalPerf) thy mercy,H2617 O Lord,H3068 held me up.H5582(QalImpf) [19] In the multitudeH7230 of my thoughtsH8312 withinH7130 me thy comfortsH8575 delightH8173(PilpImpf) my soul.H5315 [20] Shall the throneH3678 of iniquityH1942 have fellowshipH2266(PualImpf) with thee, which framethH3335(QalActPtc) mischiefH5999 by a law?H2706 [21] They gather themselves togetherH1413(QalImpf) against the soulH5315 of the righteous,H6662 and condemnH7561(HiphImpf) the innocentH5355 blood.H1818 [22] But the LordH3068 is my defence;H4869 and my GodH430 [is] the rockH6697 of my refuge.H4268 [23] And he shall bringH7725(HiphImpf) upon them their own iniquity,H205 and shall cut them offH6789(HiphImpf) in their own wickedness;H7451 [yea], the LordH3068 our GodH430 shall cut them off.H6789(HiphImpf)
